Dream Blogging
I haven't been sleeping much lately. Last night, I finally slept through most of the night. Yay! But, it wasn't a good sleep because I had very graphic and agressive dreams. In one, I was attacked by three squirrels. I don't know what that means. On top of that, I had to ask my former boss (and dean of my alma mater!) for help. She eventually did help me, but it took a while. Overall, a very, very strange night.

Are Gun Rights Dead?
I attended an event tonight sponsored by a gun group that had less than 10 people show up. The group had a "meet the candidates" night, one of several around the state. More people sat at the bar on the other end of the room and drank beer watching television than came and talked to the candidates. Did I mention that the fewer than 10 people included candidates and representatives from 5 campaigns?
I inquired about the advertising and found out that more than 4,500 personal emails were sent, it was advertised in a newspaper that reaches more than 16,000 gun owners in the state, it got mentions in national sportsmen's media outlets, coverage in several local traditional newspapers, advertising in sportsmen's clubs and dealers all over the state.
If gun owners can't come to 1 local free event to send a message for change, have we officially given up the fight? Why should the activists in the group keep fighting for the other lazy asses out there?
Some people made excuses for why more didn't come, like vacation. But tell me how, out of an estimated 20,000 reached, all but 5 people are on vacation. Wouldn't the state shut down?
It's time to stop making excuses for our fellow gun owners. If they don't participate or support at least one pro-gun group, if they don't do at least 3 things like write a letter, make phone calls, or go to a political event, then they can hand over their guns right now. It's time to stop caring about what they think or even acknowledging that they have an opinion. Their opinions should not be wasted on your ears unless they are doing at least three things a year and supporting one group. Don't bother with them anymore, maybe they'll wake up. When they do those three things and support that one group, they can have their rights and voice back.
