4:10 a - Presently
i am watching/listening to a concert of Haydn's Creation on EWTN Catholic Television that appears, judging by the ubiquitous very large spectacles, to have been filmed in the 1980s. It has that charming sound quality that comes along with worn magnetic recordings: .. wommm.. wommmmm..
i am thoroughly unimpressed with the choir. Other than their glasses. The conductor is completely not using any real conducting pattern.* Every time they show him, i get confused trying to figure out what the hell he thinks he's doing.
*No matter how tempting it may be to conduct by swooping your arms about in a facsimile of a very graceful seizure, this is not an acceptable technique. Nor, i'm sorry to say, is sort of keeping the beat by moving your primary conducting hand in circles from the wrist.
The soprano soloist is "amazing," which is to say, i am amazed that her neon floral-print puffed sleeves are LARGER THAN HER HEAD. She sings okay, i guess, but the dress. It is SO DISTRACTING. The bass is funny looking, but if i don't watch, he sounds good; some people just look odd while singing. How, sir, does your top lip stick straight out of your head? It is a mystery. Tenor isn't bad, but i swear he's wearing eyeliner. Actually, upon review, he's pretty good. Thanks, tenor, for being a lyric tenor! As for the choir, they know the notes, but their diction is crap. i'm glad they don't sing much. I AM PICKIEST EVER. The only reason i could tell it was German and not Mush Language X is due to the soloistsAAGH CONDUCTOR WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH YOUR ARMS, IT IS NOT CONDUCTING!?!
Now, to list the 80s _______s that appear in the next scan of the chorus! - Bangs - Feathered bangs - Obvious perms - Obvious perms with bangs - Headbands - Glasses that obsure eyebrows, cheekbones, or both - Large aviator-frame glasses on 75% of the men - Pastel eyeshadow - Orange or frosted pink lipsticks - Large, bulky earrings that are completely out of place - Unfortunate patches of "natural-looking" blush
One of my favorites is the lady with the black helmet hair, amber-tinted glasses that cover most of her face, really dark tan, and frosted pale pink lips. .. was everyone really that unattractive in the 80s? Because, really, it is not just the hair. These people are not pretty.
Okay, i can only see the top of the atrocity the soprano is wearing, but i shall attempt to describe it: textured fabric -- either shiny or crushed velvet, unsure, with coral, orange, turquoise, white, and purple splotchy abstract floral design. GIANT puffed sleeves, tapering in to end at the elbow, lined with inch-wide tan lace. The top of the sleeve is seriously three or four inches above her shoulder line. Anyway, fitted-ish bodice with plunging narrow V neckline, also lined in wide tan lace, which meets at the bottom of the V and runs side-by-side down the front of the bodice. MM MM, DOUBLE-WIDE TAN LACE. With this, she is wearing a short triple-strand of pearls. GOOD GOD THEY ZOOMED OUT I THINK THE ENTIRE SKIRT MIGHT BE ORANGE. AND LARGE.
Yeah, i'm done. This is just.. astonishing.. on some level.. i'm sure. Like the WHY WHY WHY WHY level, but hey, it is after four in the morning. Better than infomercials.

11:20 p - Scott you are offline!
Could you show up here as early as possible after your 0900 call is done? Jen's car is out of commission, and we have a couple errands we need to run. [Nissan dealership for Jen so she can see if her phone is in her now-dead car, and HAIRCUT FOR ME OH GOD].

7:22 p - Depressoboy request:
Hey, not that Matt and i are trying to be all US US US, WE ARE AWESOME USSSSSS WITH THE SONNNNNNGGG, but we would like to make a request:
If you've downloaded and listened to our Christmas track, could you do us a favor and leave some feedback? And hey, if you haven't listened to it yet, listen to it! And give us feedback! Please! Simple things along the lines of "i liked it," "i did not like it and now must commit ritual suicide," and "[x] was good/bad/etc" would be appreciated. We've gotten 105 downloads so far, and only a very small selection of responses. It's not so much that we'd like our egos stroked as we'd like to know what we're doing right and what we need to work on.
Thanks. :]

3:07 a - A present
This year's Winding Path Christmas track:
God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen.
You would not BELIEVE the gymnastics that went into coordinating this one. Yes, i linked you to the news item -- with embedded link -- instead of directly to the mp3. You should read Matt's acknowledgement of slackitude. Besides, now you have a "choice" about downloading, as opposed to OH GOD I CLICKED IT WHAT HAVE I DONE. [Download it. Right now.] [[DO IT]]
Programming etc: Matt Messenger Alto sax: Jen DeLeon French horn: Ben Mulholland Vox: the sassy dame to your left.
Hope everyone enjoys!

11:25 a - From my dear friend Andrew McAlpine
"The Electoral... Kollision! In the event of a lot of lawyercratic counting bullshit, the two kandidates will fight each other to the death with shivs carved from the preserved femur of Paul Revere. Their right arms shall be tied together with the rope of American unity, and they shall be placed in the electric Kage of Kongressional power. After listening to the national anthem (as rockterpreted by The Fucking Champs) they shall stab at each other until one is dead from loss of blue blood or a mortal wound to a major organ. If neither kandidate is dead within four minutes, the ocelots of Justice are to be loosed by the current house majority leader, tearing both kandidates to shreds and giving the nation a good khuckle."

two days in, and for [i'm sure] the first time of MANY this year, i will just say:
it sucks when wireless is down or fluctuating, in a hard way.
AND i have to take my laptop somewhere to get it "certified" or something if i want it to be wired ever, because the IP will be blocked otherwise. retarded.

2:34 a - oh so LATER!
so after the jury, jen and i went and tried a chinese place we hadn't tried before, Hunan Express.. which is also chinese drivethru. how awesome. so we had us some dinna.
then "to work" at the media center [both of us were scheduled] which meant seriously sitting around chatting with matt, kim, and craig while kim/craig copied some CDs. for two hours. :DD jen and i relaced our boots different ways.
thennn we went to walmart to see if we could make jen's hair BLOND. i got a bag-let of no-choogar choco things, agua, HOTT RED LIPSTICK cos whee :DDD, and sample sizes of herbal essences [pink bottle] shampoo/conditioner. this i love because it is my relax-shampoo; when i was stressed during shows in hs i'd just go wash my hair in the paint closet, cos laura/tanya left huge bottles of herbal essences in there.
and jen's hair turned strawberry blond, which is blonder than it was.
so a couple hours later we went BACK to walmart and bought a highlighting kit for her hair. and a lipgloss for me that i'd resisted earlier, but i think it is my new favorite. [clear, smooth/glossy but not sticky, strawberry-tangerine scented (that wears off), but not really flavored. also full of vitamins A, C, D, &E.; w00t.] i just spent the last hour pulling her hair through holes in a cap with an ickle crochet hook, because i am a Devoted Roommate. :D so i think she is rinsing the highlights now. gotta say, SO GLAD i took my contact out earlier. o_O_O_O cos that would've been OW.
surprising amounts of fun. :]

i'd just like to say that i'm currently.. disappointed? disgusted? with my brother's behavior.
not by whom he's hanging out with near-daily, but with the fact that he saw fit to filter myself, matt, and probably stephanie out of posts concerning her. didn't want to deal with any possible disapproval? just because we'd probably give you shit, you suddenly go clandestine? great, scott. that sure is the way family works.
i could care less if you're dating her. not dating her. doesn't matter to me. the circumstance is less meritorious of censure now than it was a year ago.
what i find deplorable is that you felt the need to try and keep it a secret.

first chick: good, but not as good as the last two. first guy: no. amy: okay, but i didn't think she was as good as i'd heard her. obvious changes between chest/head register. ;P jon's rendition of tiny dancer.. i did like it. he's endearing. charly: [GOD I HATE HER ACCENT] but she's really cute. decent song. giant hawaiian guy: smooth voice. placid and unimpressive. also, just. no. seventeen year old girl: surprisingly uncrappy. low register = really good. [except GOOD LORD why the weird leggings under dress?!] latoya: niiiiiice. [kinda uncontrollable vibrato toward the end, but oh well. goooood.]
