Create New Journal

Creating a new LiveJournal is easy, just follow the instructions below!

  1. Username:
    Each LiveJournal.com user must have their own unique username. Your username is what appears in the address to your journal and what you use to log into the LiveJournal.com server. It also shows up when you post comments in other people's journal.

    Your username can contain only lower-case letters (a-z), digits (0-9), and the underscore character (_).
    Underscores cannot be at the beginning or the end of the username, and there cannot be more than one underscore in a row.
    Underscores will be replaced with hyphens (-) in your journal's URL.
    The username cannot be longer than 15 characters.
  2. E-mail Address:
    For verification and security purposes, we need your email address. Read our privacy policy for more information on our information practices.
  3. Password:
    Select a password.
    Confirm password:
    For your security you must choose a secure password. It must be at least six characters long and contain at least four different characters. It must contain at least one number or symbol, and cannot be based upon your username, display name or email address. For further guidelines read our FAQ about choosing a secure password.
  4. Starter Friends
    Add these journals to your friends list to be kept up to date on site news and information.



  5. Age Verification
    Please select the month, day, and year you were born. We require this information to create an account in order to comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). This information is not stored in our database and is only used during account creation. Read our privacy policy for more information on our information practices.
