teabaggers and not recognizing that teabagger racism is dealbreaker for people of color, and I'm tired of his false equivalency of the Dems being the exact same as the Repubs... I know that right know there's a lot of similarlity, but at least I as a woman of color don't feel the Dems hate me because of my background, gender, or sexual orientation. Can't say the same for the Repukes, obviously.

They let him run with a sane / human / liberal-lite persona for a week or two, just long enough to suck in those of us who want to believe that they're on "our side". Then, one day, seemingly out-of-the blue, it's the flip-of-the-switch-- falling all over themselves to out-BP Hannity or Beck-- on some liberal issue you'd have assumed they'd "support."

I've used this one on a couple of other sites and the thing is just big enough at about 1" square to see it legibly. (Or else have the avatar as a thumbnail.) But this little one is pretty useless for me. I'll have to come up with something that uses no words or else doesn't require a prescription lense to read.

My comments were appearing at the top yesterday. Then they would drop.
I think it was MaryK who told me to change the setting in my account to have older comments appear 1st(top down). I changed it, and have had no problems. New comments go to the bottom.
Unless of course it's a reply. Then it's same as it was.
I click on reply, type a comment into the box that says "Reply" above it, and then my comment is just put at the bottom of the page as a newest comment.
When the reply's don't go under the original posters' comment, it can lead to some bizarre posts that look like they are out of left field.
I was wondering if I was missing some important info on the new site - which looks really great by the way.
Go to My Account in the upper right corner. Then click on edit. Scroll down to personal settings and click on "Threaded" (and, if you'd like, "Oldest first"). Make sure that "Disable Ajax comments" is NOT checked. Then go to the bottom and click on save. Then try to reply to this comment.
Despite the appearance, I'm very nice. Feel free to ask me anything.
No italics? Geez, are y'all trying to make me learn how to do programming? On the movie title above I tried to just make the title "strong" but the whole post came out that way.
Also, now I don't see a pop-up for new posts, nor a little red "New!" to point them out, either. I'm betting there are still changes going on; last night there was some little clickon thing on the bottom right that I had to hit to see the posts, and it's gone.
Otherwise, this is a work in progress and we're all trying to figure it out.

How can you tell if that milk that you bought from the grocery store was sourced from a dairy farm operation where the cow had free access to pasture? How do you know if the milk came from a small farmer or a cooperative? Was the operation environmentally friendly and sustainable?
Not really a shocker, but people who take social security tend to be financially insecure. Other new 'normals'. Double-dip on the double. Pentagon security at work. Getting help in the Armed Forces. A metaphor for the melt-down? New Orleans back?
Hi C&L,
I got few suggestions about the new format of the C&L site. I liked the old format, not so sure about the new one.
There are no borders along each post. It's just hanging free for all. When I scroll down the site, I don't exactly know if I have left the upper post and reached the next one or am somewhere in between. It's very unintuitive, visually very hard to get by and very short on visual cues for scroll.
Also, get rid of the "cross posted bar" from under the individual post headers. Hide it somewhere else or make it a very small icon attached somewhere down after the post, just don't put it under the title of the post. It's basically useless.
Ideally a Post should have a Title, Content, Comment Section and anything else in that fucking order. Content means written matter, video, audio and that's it.
Make the tags smaller or make it drop down or just put it somewhere else in the post (use the ideal post guideline above to decide where to put it).
Also, put all that new age "share this post" shit, after the comments or somewhere else.
Look spreading the message requires tact, which means making it easier to understand what it is. I just have difficulty in finding what the post is meant to say if it's so damn hard to browse through.
BTW, the commenting section looks OK.
because nothing proves "macho" like shooting a whale with a crossbow from the safety of a boat. Why not drop Vladamir in the water unarmed with great white shark and a bucket of chum and let's see how macho he is.
Apparently Government scientists have found a previously unknown strain of oil eating bacteria. Guess where they found it? Yup the Gulf! Even better, this strain of bacteria doesn't use up the oxygen supply when it's gobbling up the oil like other oil eating bacteria. It's surmised that this bacteria has been 'unknown' because it evolved at the extreme depths where natural seepage of crude occurs. Now isn't that just convenient that this little bug has come up from Davey Jones' locker to help save the day!
I saw that article in my Korean newspaper yesterday. Need;ess to say, I was rather skeptical, especially after watching the "Psywar" movie this week. Sorry, but I don't buy the story: too too convenient!!!!!!!

The corporate media has been excelling at false equivalency's for decades.
It's about the only thing they are good at.
What's wrong with just "little pictures"? Not cool enough?

Site monitor,
Why are my reply's posted at the bottom as though they were just a comment?
It wasn't doing this yesterday?
Were they appearing at the top yesterday, or are you trying to reply to another comment?

I'm goin' to bed. I'm freakin' exhausted.

Hey, it worked.
Thanks moderator.

Thanks, I'll give it a try.
Yep.

I can tell from this thread we're not young whippersnappers. My students woulkd have the site worked out in 2 minutes.
PS I can see the avatars because I keep a big magnifying glass beside the computer. I'd say call me Grampa, but I'm a very young (cough) 50.
My mother was a grandparent at age 39. I'm 51 and still only a daddy. Isn't 50 the new 30 or something?
my avatar should have changed
It eventually does change though. Moves like a glacier.
