I saw ‘Looper’ last night and had a crush on this one actor who I hadn’t seen before so I just looked at his IMDb page and this is his biography and I want him to get lost in a forest now.
I want to get lost WITH him in a forest forever! He sounds fun and wonderful.
This is one of the best movies I’ve seen all year. Richard Gere coiffes his best hair, Susan Sarandon throws her best shade, and the screenwriter twists his best twists. Arbitrage is smart, well-paced, thrilling, and has one of the most satisfying endings of the year.
It’s out in limited release + On Demand, so you can watch it at home while drinking beer on the couch like I did. Just make sure you also buy Junior Mints while at the bodega. I forgot those.

I really liked the part where Richard Gere yells “WHAT IS AN ‘APPLEBEES’!” That was really the best part. He’s not bad, he’s just never eaten good in the neighborhood.
Do not be fooled. This movie is GARBAGE. With its nonsensical finance talk (like it might as well have actual 3-year-olds inventing the “hedge fund” part of the movie) and its ridiculous contrived plot and reaaaaal weighty and absolutely faux moral whatevering, the awesome Susan Sarandon and generally good cast could barely keep me from walking. Thank God I stayed: I got to see Graydon Carter’s hairwings act. That we should have lived so long to see such a thing!
