Colored Playdough

From The Toddler's Busy Book by Trish Kuffner p. 355
Makes 1 big blob

1 cup water
1 TBSP vegetable oil
1/2 cup salt
1 TBSP cream of tartar
food coloring
1 cup flour

Combine water, oil, salt, cream of tartar (which helps the dough last for about six months), and food coloring of your choice in a saucepan and heat until warm. Remove from heat and stir in flour. Stir, then knead until smooth. Store in an airtight container or Ziploc bag.

I made five half recipes and filled these small containers I found at the dollar store (10/$1) It was a perfect amount to fill 4 with a half recipe. Now they are all ready for party treats for our upcoming rainbow party!

Dry ingredients:
6 c. oatmeal
1 c. fresh sunflower seeds (I didn't use)
1 c. wheat bran
1 c. wheat germ
1 c. oat bran
1 c. dry buttermilk powder
1 c. slivered almonds (I used sliced)
1 c. coconut
1 TBSP cinnamon

Wet ingredients:
1/3 c. maple syrup
1/3 c. honey
1 c. oil
1 teas. vanilla

Dried Fruit options (none of which I used the first time)
1 c. golden raisins
1 c. raisins
1 c. dried apples
1 c. dried cranberries

Mix all the dry ingredients together. Mix all the wet ingredients together. Then mix both together. Spread a thin layer on cookie sheets and cook at 350 until it turns golden.

*Serves really well with fruit and vanilla yogurt. Another one the girls love.

Pizza Bombs

From Andrew and Ashley Wray
Makes 1-2 bombs or pizzas

5 c. flour
1 teas. salt
1/4 teas. pepper
1 T. sugar
1/4 c. oil
2 c. warm water
2 T. yeast

Dissolve yeast in water. Add remaining ingredients. Raise 1 hr. (if desired--this will make two pizzas for sure). Roll out dough. Cut out circles. Spoon sauce on center. Put on cheese, meat, etc. Fold dough over and press edges together. Bake at 400 for about 12-14 minutes until golden brown.

This used to be our one and only pizza that we made, but then we found another (flatbread style) that we use too. This one is still the best for a good old pepperoni & black olive (for the hubby) pizza.
