Wednesday Die-Light – Layer your dies

WednesdayDie-Light Katharina

Welcome to another edition of “Wednesday Die-Light”. I decorated a large matchbox using various beautiful Whiff of Joy Die-Lights. It is so much fun to combine them in different ways! I am also a huge fan of layering lots of different cut pieces on top of each other for more dimension.

matchbox_WhiffofJoy_KatharinaFrei I started with covering the matchbox with white acrylic paint 2 times to make it opaque. Afterwards I cut the following dies from an old book page, from vellum, from kraft paper and from white cardstock.

Thereafter I adhered the cut shapes on top of each other and created the centerpiece from wood leaves, a large paperflower, gauze and a large silver feather charm.

16 Days of Christmas Day #1

16DaysOfChristmas

katharinaFrei

Hi, this is Katharina and it is Day #1 of Whiff of Joy’s 16 days of Christmas Stockings. During the next 16 days, the WoJ Design Team will inspire you with all kinds of projects, each of them in their personal, amazing style. All of these projects will show a Christmas Stocking, but given various uses.

Each day Whiff of Joy will give away one of the stamps used on the current project to one lucky winner. The winner will be randomly chosen from commenters of the particular day. Therefore you should check back often to be in the draw each day! :)
Every day, the new post goes live at 8 am. The winner from the previous day will be announced before the new post.

StockingMiniAlbum_WhiffOfJoy_MyMindsEye I used the template of THIS stocking and decided to create a minialbum. The cover and the backside are made of heavy carton to give it more stability.

I covered the cut out stockings with white acrylic paint and with patterned paper.
The inside pages are cut out from 300g white cardstock. I did them a bit smaller than the cover to give the minialbum a neat finish.

I wanted to create a large festive ornament for the front. Therefore I used the Nested Stars Die-light and cut all the sizes from patterned paper. Afterwards I also cut multiple layers of each size from white tissue paper.

StockingMiniAlbum_WhiffOfJoy_MyMindsEye93StockingMiniAlbum_WhiffOfJoy_MyMindsEye95 I put the different layers on top of each other and adhered them to the stocking with a large brad. Afterwards I crinkled the papers a bit to give the ornament a more natural appearance.

tips A fun side effect: I used the negative of the cut-out stars as template for the inside pages.

StockingMiniAlbum_WhiffOfJoy_MyMindsEye94  chancetowin.jpg I used the beautiful “Glaube, Liebe, Hoffnung” stamp collection throughout the entire project. Therefore I want to offer it as today’s price. If you don’t speak english – no problem, you can enter as well. You will receive the “This is December” stamp collection instead :) Leave a comment until tomorrow 7 am CET to have a chance to win one of these fabulous rubber stamp collections!
