Pistachio Papaya Mojo...

Hi there!

I played around with a couple of challenges this weekend: the colours from Pals Paper Arts and the Mojo Monday sketch...

I pulled out the lovely Venetian Romance paper as it has some beautiful prints in Crisp Cantaloupe and Pistachio Pudding and went from there...

I haven't used the Papaya Collage set in a while and that rose was begging to be coloured with these pretty colours. I also used the butterfly from the same set.

Here's the recipe:
Stamps: Papaya Collage, Petite Pairs, Four Frames
Ink: Stazon, Crisp Cantaloupe, Coastal Cabana, Pistachio Pudding
Paper: Venetian Romance, Crisp Cantaloupe, Coastal Cabana, Naturals Ivory, Very Vanilla
Accessories: Very Vanilla seam binding, pearls, decorative label punch, ovals framelits

I hope you've enjoyed your weekend! Thanks for stopping by...

Beach Portrait Mashup...

Hiya!

This week at the Friday Mashup Lili is bringing us a fun themed challenge...

Here's your Mashup Challenge:
  1. Create a project using the "Masking Technique".
  2. Create a project with some "Beach elements".
  3. Or Mash it Up and create a "Beach'y project using Masking".
I don't actually own any stamps that include any beach elements but fortunately I had borrowed 'By the Tide' from my friend Heather so I used the shell image from that, together with a LOT of masking...

I stamped the frame from Papaya Collage onto Whisper White with stazon first of all, then masked off the inside with sticky notes. I stamped one shell in the corner using Baked Brown Sugar ink, then created a shell mask, attached it over the top and stamped another one, then covered that with another shell mask. I then brayered some Soft Sky ink in the top section, masked off a straight 'horizon' line as well as a torn 'sand' line, then brayered in between with Marina Mist and Tempting Turquoise ink. I then put the reverse of the torn mask back on and sponged So Saffron, Crumb Cake and a bit of Baked Brown Sugar ink to create the sand. When all the sticky note masks were removed I had a lovely little beach scene sitting inside my frame! I stamped another shell in Baked Brown Sugar on Shimmery White card and went over it with an aqua brush to blend the ink a little, then cut it out and popped it over the corner of the frame using dimensionals. The sentiment is from Trust God, stamped in Stazon over the background (I wasn't happy with the intensity of the colour though to I went back and traced over it with a Basic Black marker).

The background was a little idea I had to make it look like a weather-boarded beach house... I stamped the Woodgrain Background on Smoky Slate with Smoky Slate ink, then cut into strips to make the boards. I lightly sponged around the edges of each strip then assembled them onto a piece of card, alternating the placement to create the boarded effect (kinda another version of the brick wall technique from a couple of weeks ago). I 'hung' the picture on the wall using some white baker's twine and an antique brad.

Make sure you check out the other beach-y creations of the design team (although, be warned: they may make you want to go on holiday lol!).

Saffron Butterflies...

Hello!

This week's Dynamic Duos challenge is a pretty one...

I had to laugh when I saw the 'dessert' option... with the amount of ribbon I use, this one wasn't gonna be a stretch lol! I've recently got my hands on the Basic Black craft inkpad and love the effect of stamping with it and embossing with clear EP - so much easier than embossing with black EP with all the speckles etc!

I started by stamping the frame (from Papaya Collage) onto Naturals Ivory with black craft ink and embossed with clear EP, then trimmed it out. I layered some So Saffron and Whisper White card inside and stamped and embossed the sentiment (from Blooming with Kindness). The butterflies were stamped above then on a piece of Very Vanilla, coloured with So Saffron ink and cut out and layered over the top of the main panel. The dsp in the background is from Tea for Two and I layered some lace from the Artisan Embellishments kit over the top as well as some Basic Black ribbon and a silver button.

Make sure you check out the gorgeous creations of the rest of the DT!

I'm off to rest for a bit before a workshop I have later this evening (I've been sneezing and coughing like crazy this morning so I'm hoping I'll feel a bit better in a few hours! Hubby will be on dinner duty...!)Thanks for stopping by...
