traditionals

woodwoolstool woodwoolstool woodwoolstool woodwoolstool woodwoolstool woodwoolstool

A pair of 'good old' traditional woodwoolstools.

Custom made and in the meantime already packed and sent to the new owner, an artist who bought the stools for new gallery in a monumental building.
I've made the stool covers at her request in the traditional way. It's how I once started making stools, more than ten years ago and which explains the origin of the name woodwoolstool.

The woolen covers are completely made with yarn from Marrakech. The wooden stool legs are made of reclaimed wood, that's running out...

Nowadays I do many other things, and hardly make any stools, yet the name woodwoolstool feels so natural to me. I suppose it has become my middle name.

Some people even call me woodwoolstool when they recognize me, but don't know my name... and I do respond immediately.

retro woodwoolstool

woodwoolstool bamboo daybed

At the moment I'm working on a pair of 'good old' traditional woodwoolstools.

Have not been making them for a long, long time in this 'old-fashioned' way (it's how I started more than 10 years ago), until a request came last week.

I still have to make the scrap wood stools, so I tested the handmade woolen case on another stool.
...and where would the color inspiration come from?

a glimmer of gold

wood & wool stool wood & wool stool wood & wool stool wood & wool stool wood & wool stool

A simple white cotton cover with a glimmer of gold for Emily's tailor-made stool. The golden detail was her idea and I am delighted with the shimmering result. The stool is on it's way to London now.

Truth be told; I need to make another one for ourselves, i think it is too cute!

The COLUMBIA ROAD photo book by Johanna Neurath, I got from my cousin Afra a few months ago. Columbia Road is the home to London's most iconic flower market. Come closing time, Johanna turns her lens to what is left behind; the discarded flowers, the used packaging, the buckets of water...

I'm obviously fond of flowers and admire her inspiring way of floral photography.

Good thing is, I will visit London with my son Minne soon and surely will drop by to the flower market (and the fine neighborhoods over there)

wood & word l o v e signs

A love affair with wood.

Some wood & word signs I made recently.
Stamped on wood, a love message is even more romantic, don't you think?

hyacinth fragrance & hare frame

hyacinthhyacinthwood & word sign [jon emil]

The fragrance of hyacinth fills the kitchen. We've enjoyed the white bunch, my sister brought us on Monday, throughout the week.

The name sign I made for a Swiss boy and the little hare, who lives in our kitchen, is a model for the occasion.

I wish you a joyful weekend!

californian sunset colors

wood & wool stool clairewood & wool stool clairewood & wool stool clairewood & wool stool clairewood & wool stool clairewood & wool stool clairewood & wool stool clairewood & wool stool claire

A while ago a lovely lady from California asked me if i could make her a stool, with mainly white cover and some light blue, lavender, grey and teals.
So I picked the colors from my wool cupboard and started the project. Also found a beautiful matching piece of wallpapered scrapwood.
I fell in love with this one...

Meanwhile the stool is standing across the pond, in sunny California.

(those colors remind me of the stunning colors of a Californian sunset)

happy cristina barcelona

"I am in awe with it..."

This is just a part of the sweet mail from Cristina from Barcelona, she's happy with her new harlequin stool.

It's satisfying to make something out of nothing, just with some wood and some wool, creating something with your hands. I love my job.

Moreover the mail I often get when a stool has arrived at it's destination, makes it even better.
People all over the world buy something in my Etsy shop and Í still think it's amazing to receive a very personal thank you mail, once it has arrived.

So good to know, there are so many nice folks in the world, who take the time to send a personal thanks.
I really appreciate it very much...

the stool remains

wood & wool stool sylviawood & wool stool sylvia

Back to where it all began.

I finished another wood & wool stool and have to admit, I still enjoy making custom order stools.
During the years the handmade products have developed and I like to invent and create new designs.
I love this ongoing process of making new designs, anyhow linked to wood or wool.
One thing is for sure, the wood & wool stool remains!

a hat for peer

pear

A hat for Peer.

The parents of baby boy Peer (which means pear), asked me if I could make a pear hat for their son.

The pear shape was not as easy as I thought, but once I found it, I liked that fruity beanie so much and made another one for the S N O R - F E S T I V A L on September 21.

tweed twins

wood & wool stool annwood & wool stool annwood & wool stool annwood & wool stool annwood & wool stool ann

Some time ago Ann bought this T W E E D in my Etsy shop.
Once it arrived, she decided that her wood & wool stool could use some company.
She asked me if I could make another matching tweed cover stool with floral legs and so I did.

With a little luck, they may spend Christmas together...
