what to do with yarn leftovers?
photo: July 2016 - Domburg beach
Using up your yarn leftovers?
I had slightly more than one ball of pima cotton and designed a crochet (tank) top from the We Are Knitters bossa nova sweater I knitted in 2016.
It has become a super cute (tank) top and i will show it soon.
Waiting for the sun to make some proper pics...
In the meantime i’m working on the #coolcrochet tank top pattern; which will soon be available in my Etsy shop.

1st domburg beach day 2018
Sunday at the beach in Domburg. The Dutch North Sea beaches are great, I sometimes just forget about it... Since we live in Dordrecht, we always choose one of the beaches in Zeeland.
We were about the first ones on the beach, except for a few fishermen on the shoreline. Incidentally it was nice and quiet on our beach, totally against my expectations.
The beach is always a lovely place "to play outside" during all seasons and especially during the summer months. When we used to live in The Hague, we went to the beach so often.
In spring and summer, we met after work on our favorite beach between Kijkduin and Scheveningen. At the end of the day, when almost everyone goes home again, it's wonderful on the beach. We used to bring our own picnic basket or ordered something on the beach and stayed until sunset.
Sunday we also stayed on the beach until sunset and we were about the last ones to leave the beach, to take full advantage of these summer days in May!
Ps: The bikini I made the day before, the bikini top is a variation on my crocheted bikini top pattern and the bottom is completely freestyle...

retrospect
January - two days in Paris with my love, in honor of our 25th wedding aniversary.
February - having a drink at Vitrin in Antwerp, it's our tradition to celebrate the day we first met, on February 15th.
March - mid-month, preparing our party and workshops in spring and in the meantime inside it's getting greener by the day.
April - an unforgettable week in Marrakech with my loved ones and some friends. Instead of a grand wedding party, we chose something that is closer to us...
May - 18 days in Morocco, to host the 7th Cool Crochet workshop and the 1st Green Gardens workshop in and around Marrakech.
June - weekend in Domburg, our favorite beach with long rows of pastel colored beach huts along the coast.
July - for the third time to Marrakech, this time for an interior shoot at Chambres d'Amis, the riad of my friend Ank and green oasis basecamp during the travel workshops.
August - mini city break at the Lloyd Hotel in Amsterdam to celebrate my birthday.
September - roadtrip holiday in Portugal, en route from Olhao to Lagos to Southwest Alentejo to Lisbon.
October - back to Morocco for new adventures, whilst traveling with two great groups of the 8th Cool Crochet workshop and 2nd Green Gardens workshop
November - autumn walks in the woods
December - this year has flown by!
2017 was a very special year in many ways. Beautiful memories! I have a lot to be grateful for.
I wish you all the very best for 2018 and focus on the positives!

at the beach
Midsummer mini break at the beach.
We went for two days to our favorite beach in Domburg.
All the pastel colored beach huts in a row are stunning. They are all unique and some are painted by artists. (All photogenic haha...)
We decided to rent a beach hut for the days on the beach and got our pastel yellow hut next to the 'flamingo girls'. It was a perfect way to stay cool during the tropical midsummer days.
We brought our salades and drinks in a cool box and at sunset we had dinner with 'kibbeling' and cava in a plastic beach bucket filled with ice.
We stayed in a hotel in the center of Domburg (thanks Fred & Chris for this treat) and on Monday morning we went to our 'own' beach hut and we almost had the beach to ourselves.
This is one of the advantages of working on a Saturday; you have weekend on Sunday & Monday.

unforgettable moments of 2016
2016 has been a great year.
12 photos, 1 for each month. Randomly chosen.
Those golden sneakers travelled a lot this year.
Londen in February, with my son Minne.
Marrakech in April, for another Cool Crochet workshop.
Paris in June, with my love Henk, son Minne and my friend Rosa.
In July we often went for a day to our favorite beach in Zeeland.
Berlin in August, just the two of us, to celebrate my birthday.
Portugal in September for an amazing roadtrip from Porto to Lisbon.
Marrakech once more, for the 6th Cool Crochet workshop.
The last months of 2016 I've been at home a lot, to work on new projects and enjoy my family and just being at home together.
Two thousand and sixteen was a wonderful year with many happy memories!
I am grateful for that and I'm looking forward to the new adventures in 2017!
Thanks for following my blog and Happy New Year to you all! Xx
