hibernate inside

huge harlequin blanket

The huge harlequin blanket is not a luxury during the cold winter nights in the attic!

This week it's freezing cold and the huge woolen the blanket is very useful, as an extra warm layer over the duvet.

You can download the renewed huge harlequin blanket pattern from my Etsy shop.

You can make a huge harlequin blanket, but also a mini baby blanket and everything in between. The size of the blanket is easy to adjust to any desired size. The huge version is a challenge for enthusiastic and eager crochet queens. A smaller version is easy to handle for everyone and perfect to use all your yarn leftovers.

Cheers to the weekend and keep yourself warm!

on the inside

cards inside the cupboard cards inside the cupboard cards inside the cupboard cards inside the cupboard cards inside the cupboard

A pin board on the inside of the kitchen cabinet.

With pushpins I've pinned some precious postcards and stuff hanging around.
Out of sight until you open the cabinet door.

It annoys me when someone does not close the cabinet door, so that 'problem' is solved too.

evergreen

inside

It's that time of year again...

Time to move the (tropical) garden plants inside, because of autumn frosts. The end of the outside season does not have to mean a parting with our plants, however. We moved our favorite tropicals inside, where they'll survive as houseplants until spring. (i hope...)
Most of the plants will hibernate in the attic, but this huge one is getting too heavy to take it upstairs.

We have a large table by the window in the attic for the plants. They need a bright spot, as most of our plants grow in full sun outdoors.

They also like extra humidity, for indoor air is typically dry and the leaves will turn brown and crispy if there's not enough moisture in it. I know this from experience, so let's hope this hibernation will succeed.

green

green insidegreen insidegreen insidegreen insidegreen insidegreen inside

The strange thing about my love for green is, I'm crazy about flowers and am not too fond of plants.

The temporary beauty of a bunch of flowers on the table, you can enjoy them for a week and then it's done, away with it on to the next.
Houseplants however, are just standing there and it makes me 'nervous' eventually.
Although I love plants in the garden, also houseplants.
So yesterday, when I bought a new bunch of flowers I couldn't resist this plant and decided to adopt it, for the time being in the house and maybe within a few weeks it can move to the garden...

Green touches everyone and everything, especially this time of the year.

day & night

harlequin love pillowharlequin love pillow

We are in the middle of dark December, with short days and long nights.
Sometimes I don't mind staying inside with a knit and a tea.

At the moment I'm busy knitting a black sweater dress for the upcoming winter.
I'm actually living in my knitted sweater dress and decided to make another one in black.

There is now also an English version available in my Etsy shop.

Besides the knitting I'm also working on a new crochet project; the love seat harlequin pillow.

Nathalie Lété's delightful memory game!
I'm absolutely no games person, but for [le joli mémo] I gladly make an exception.

This colorful wooden toy is wholly to my taste.

fiber friday

No summer here.
After the storm of yesterday the garden is flooded with rose leaves.

Between the dark clouds, there was an occasional fifteen minutes of sunshine.
Enjoying the Surprising lounger outside was no option, because it was windy and started raining again.

Fortunately, inside there is enough wool and there is plenty to do.

dark days before christmas

The dark days before Christmas, do have bright spots too.

The colored lights in the tree, you can see from a distance when you enter the street. (sorry to those who do not love the bright LEDs) and the sparkling lights from inside.

A wooden crate with winter fruits. Juicy orange tangerines wíth leaves and twigs.

Long evenings and lots of time for a good read or a nice movie.

Within a few days we will make a new xxl wood & wool x-mas tree for our home.
(it's about time, for someone starting to make x-mas trees since October)
