LRNCE is a Marrakech based lifestyle brand focusing on interior decoration and accessories.

Founded by the talented Laurence Leenaert from Belgium. She is an all round artist, super creative, gorgeous, spontaneous and speaks Flemish, which made it even more fun to talk to her about her work.

Laurence's recognizable work (in short LRNCE) has a colorful cheerful style. We had the pleasure of meeting her in the atelier in Marrakech, during a #marvelousmarrakech studio tour.

The work of LRNCE is unique and handmade and I fell in love with the "occupied" loungers and left the building with a hand painted [mon coeur] plate for my love and a cement leaf tile in matching colors (one of her recent designs).

Well I was already a @LRNCE follower and big fan and now even more.

And Henk loves the plate!

fond of checkered

A new canvas; lilac lemon on blue checks.

The background is inspired by my blue checkered Vans.

And it's not the first time i used a checkered pattern. One year ago i made a xs woodwoolstool with checkered crochet cover, also inspired by my favorite shoes. And moreover spencers, pillows and mittens.

I'm fond of checkered stuff.

pittura di percolatore

pittura di percolatore pittura di percolatore pittura di percolatore percolator painting pittura di percolatore pittura di percolatore

My newest painting is our blown-up percolator for the kitchen, a tribute to our new ritual.

At the beginning of this year, we started drinking moka coffee in the afternoon and it soon became our daily ritual. Slow coffee at the kitchen table, a slow life moment that we both look forward to and enjoy together.

After the lemon painting I was looking for a new subject to paint for our kitchen wall. Because the lemon ended up in the daybed corner in the livingroom in the end.

I came across a percolator print on the instagram account of @picame and liked the drawing of the artist Meredith Ann a lot, cause they resemble the colors in our kitchen. The moroccan bread baskets, the golden yellow of our Zelliges tiles and our bright blue kitchen chair.

On many more 'dolce vita' coffee moments together, per favore...

lemon painting

lemon painting lemon lemon lemon lemon lemon lemon lemon lemon

Today was all about painting.

For the background of the lemon (that I painted yesterday) I mixed a soft salmon pink, just like our lemon tapestry on which this painting is based.

Applying the color neatly along the lines was even more work than painting the lemon itself.

Eventually some tiny dots here and there. Which I thought was quite a tricky job hahaha, the idea you can screw up everything.

Fortunately that did not happen and I am well pleased how the lemon turned out.

And even though the lemon was supposed to be placed on a tiny wall in the kitchen, Henk and I both agreed it should be placed in the corner of the daybed.

It totally looks like a fresh spring boost!

And THIS is where the inspiration came from.
