Sewing: Game Day Jersey Sport and Racing Dress (Pattern Extension)

Hi Friends. I have been busily engaged in many things, but not many "blog-able."  Or maybe I just wasn't creative enough about how to blog, but in any event, I've been living life and falling behind on that list of things I wanted to do here.

But now that a big fundraiser is past, and some big family moves are underway I am catching up! I'm starting with this pattern release, my favorite version of the Game Day Jersey pattern. It's a pattern EXTENSION, actually, which means it's an add-on to the original pattern rather than a stand-alone.

This pattern extension includes pattern pieces and detailed instructions for sewing a straight dress, the Sport Dress, version of the Game Day Jersey. And it also has everything you need to sew the Racing Dress version, which has (no surprise) racing stripes down the side. See this fun gold version I sewed a couple years ago.

As with all my Wee Muses patterns, this one is digitally drafted and includes digital illustrations for all of the step-by-step. It also includes yardage requirements (meters too) and diagrams for taping your print-at-home pattern together to make it really easy.

On another note. Has the kendama craze hit your kids' school yet? Ours peeked when I took these photos, which were a year ago. This is one of those much-harder-than-it-looks games, but a lot of fun and so much better than screen time!

The Game Day Jersey Sport and Racing Dress works well in light to medium weight knits. The tribal pattern knit is from Girl Charlee and is lightweight. This cute pink camo is a terry fleece, which is extra comfy. And the sleeveless version is in one of the gorgeous organic knits from Birch Fabrics.

Hop on over to my Wee Muses Etsy shop to find the original Game Day Jersey pattern and this new pattern EXTENSION: The Game Day Jersey Sport and Racing Dress.

And if your kids need some summer entertainment, or you're looking for a birthday present, why not a kendama? (Totally unrelated to this sewing post, other than it was a fun prop, and I wasn't asked to promote it but I am throwing in this affiliate link.)

Sewing: City Tee Pattern for the Sew What Club

The City Tee pattern is one I've been working on for some time. Or maybe "not working on" is more accurate! I drafted this pattern and sewed it in time for a summer vacation a couple years ago. Then I thought it would be fun with a three quarter sleeve to push up. Then I thought cuffs would be cute on the short sleeves. And finally I added tie neck.

If it weren't for Kelly and The Sew What Club, I may never have reached the deadline for this project. I have a tendency to iterate forever with something I'm enjoying.

I am happy to report this women's pattern (my first!) is finished and available to The Sew What Club members for the March subscription. (I'll be selling it stand-alone in my Aesthetic Nest Etsy shop next month.)

The pattern includes the basic City Tee with cap sleeves, which is the quickest sew ever! It's the perfect impulse project and the answer to what to do with that great knit you've been hoarding. The pattern also includes options for a drop-shoulder, three-quarter sleeve, cuff and a tie neck. That should suit you for all seasons! The pattern comes in a great ranges of  women's sizes: from XXS to XXL.

You have to check out the cuff sleeve and three-quarter sleeve versions Kelly sewed. She makes this style look so fabulous! And if you haven't joined The Sew What Club you definitely need to check it out.

Sewing: Nautical Dresses and a Pretty Piped Skirt (Pattern Preview)

It's Summer's end. At least in terms of our routine. we're headed back to school this coming week. So I had to get in one last, celebratory post for summer: some nautical dresses at the beach.

I'd had all this cute fabric sitting in my stash for a couple years and finally sewed something with it when I set up a crazy two-days-before-the-plane deadline for myself. I love this Dear Stella "Ahoy Matey" fabric with signal flags and sailboats, and the coastal sailboat scene canvas from Cath Kidston.

I sewed two sleeveless Sophisticate Dresses for Audrey and Scarlett. This is a pattern I've shared a few times before (originally here in a gold version, here in a houndstooth for Easter, and then here in a safari print) that's been partially drafted for more than a year now. It's not the only one, sadly. I really need to finish it because I love it.

And for Tess I sewed a Pretty Piped Skirt. This classic skirt has a flat front waistband with piping, and a gathered back waistband for ease of fitting and wearing. The first one I made is one of my favorite projects, a dog printed skirt with piped pockets. For this nautical version I made flap pockets. When I mentioned that the Sophisticate Dress isn't the only pattern sitting on my list, I was thinking of this skirt pattern too.

Oh well, with the change of seasons there's always the hope of finding more time in the routine!

It's been great having some time to play as a family and now I'm excited about the Fall routine with new classes, teachers and things to learn! I hope you are looking forward to the change of seasons too.

Sewing: Game Day Jersey Racing Dress in Gold

I've been working on another version of the Game Day Jersey pattern. An even "sportier" version. I'm calling this the Racing Dress.

The original pattern includes an option for an a-line dress, which I love. But I also love this straight version. With the racing stripe.

I'll offer this as a pattern extension with options for the Racing Dress, with side stripe, and a Tee Dress, which is sans stripe. With all the sleeve options from the original pattern the possibilities have pretty much exploded.

I sewed this Racing Dress with a heathered grey jersey I purchased at Jo-Ann for the yoke. The cool gold foil and grey knit used for the body of the dress and the gold swim and dance fabric on the stripe and banding are also from Jo-Ann.

This fabric almost makes this dress look dress-y. But my girl is a sport at heart.

Stay tuned. I hope this pattern extension will be ready really soon.
You can find the original Game Day Jersey Tee and Dress pattern in my Wee Muses Etsy Shop.
