MSM caught 'watering the plants'

There has been heavy media coverage of the picture of Obama-with-Hitler-mustache that a guy was displaying outside one of the townhall meetings the other day. The picture is at one of the links below. Several talking heads on TV blamed Republicans and conservative talk radio for motivating this ugly display (see third link below). One might be forgiven for thinking that they knew what they were talking about. One might have assumed, naively, that the network news people did some investigative reporting to determine the facts.

In fact, it would have been quite easy. All they had to do was to read the message on the bottom of the picture and go to the web site, which is a Lyndon LaRouche web site (first link below). But no, they simply parroted what their world view told them must be the case. This sloppiness and utter disregard for the facts have become more and more typical of liberal TV news programs.

As it happens, Lyndon LaRouche is closer to a communist than he is to a conservative. On the issue at hand, his web site actually advocates a "single payer" health care plan, just not Obama's.

The activist who was displaying the picture was later seen handing out literature for Democratic Representative John Dingell (see second link below). Thus either he was a Democrat plant or else he was a LaRouche supporter who also supported Dingell.

They call this particular kind of deception "watering the plants". The liberal media bought it willingly, and then spread it far and wide. We can expect to see much more of this now that Nancy Pelosi falsely accused conservative town hall participants of carrying swastikas.

Regarding TV news, it's been tempting to say "trust but verify". But now one can't trust it at all.

Instructions for Congress: (1) STOP what you are doing. STOP destroying the country. Do NOT pass any more legislation. (2) Repeal ALL the legislation you have passed this year. (3) Use a "continuing resolution" from 2008 to cover the 2010 federal budget. I.e., freeze discretionary spending at the 2008 level, minus the 2008 "stimulus".

(4) Go to Hawaii on vacation and have fun. Go exploring. If you're lucky, maybe you'll stumble onto Obama's birth certificate.

'Duty to die' hinted in Obamacare

Government-run health care just keeps getting better and better. "One troubling provision of the House bill compels seniors to submit to a counseling session every five years (and more often if they become sick or go into a nursing home) about alternatives for end-of-life care (House bill, p. 425-430)," writes Betsy McCaughey in the New York Post. The sessions cover highly sensitive matters such as whether to receive antibiotics and 'the use of artificially administered nutrition and hydration.' "This mandate invites abuse, and seniors could easily be pushed to refuse care. Do we really want government involved in such deeply personal issues? "

So if you're elderly, you're contributing to the national debt and your exhaling of carbon dioxide is contributing to global warming. As ex-governor of Colorado Dick Lamm put it some years ago, you should just "get out of the way".

Lamm was a Democrat, of course, along with the ghouls who are putting together this bill. They call themselves the "Party of Compassion".

Dick Lamm is now 74 years old. If he's an honest man, he'll do his duty any day now.

Own a house? Beware climate bill

If you will ever consider buying or selling a house, you need to beware of the Democrats' "cap and trade" bill that recently passed the House of Representatives. It could dramatically lower the value of your property and/or make it very difficult for you to sell it without very expensive and time-consuming upgrades. (Story linked here, with full text below.) They call it a national "retrofit" policy. If it becomes law, you will not be permitted to sell your property until it meets federal energy standards that Congress has not seen fit to define.

In this bill Congress asserts enormous additional (and unconstitutional) power for the federal government, but delegates the practical details to the environmental zealots and other bureaucrats in the EPA and in state governments. Thus nobody in particular can be held accountable for requiring building retrofits that could bankrupt many homeowners and businesses.

Congress is unleashing regulatory pit bulls on unsuspecting citizens while preserving its own ability to deny any wrongdoing. Politicians do know how to cover their posteriors while doing great damage.

If you have ever sold a house, you know how much stress is involved, especially in a weak housing market such as we already have. This bill is all we need to destroy the market and force us to visit Congress with torches and pitchforks.

If the Senate also passes this abomination, President Obama will sign it. But you still have a little time left to influence the Senate vote. I suggest you get to it pronto.

CNSNews.com Democrats’ Cap-and-Trade Bill Creates ‘Retrofit’ Policy for Homes and Businesses Wednesday, July 01, 2009 By Matt Cover

(CNSNews.com) – The 1,400-page cap-and-trade legislation pushed through by House Democrats contains a new federal policy that residential, commercial, and government buildings be retrofitted to increase energy efficiency, leaving it up to the states to figure out exactly how to do that.

This means that homeowners, for example, could be required to retrofit their homes to meet federal "green" guidelines in order to sell their homes, if the cap-and-trade bill becomes law.

The bill, which now goes to the Senate, directs the administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to develop and implement a national policy for residential and commercial buildings. The purpose of such a strategy – known as the Retrofit for Energy and Environmental Performance (REEP) – would be to "facilitate" the retrofitting of existing buildings nationwide.

"The Administrator shall develop and implement, in consultation with the Secretary of Energy, standards for a national energy and environmental building retrofit policy for single-family and multi-family residences," the bill reads.

It continues: "The purpose of the REEP program is to facilitate the retrofitting of existing buildings across the United States."

The bill leaves the definition of a retrofit and the details of the REEP program up to the EPA. However, states are responsible for ensuring that the government’s plans are carried out, whatever the final details may entail.

"States shall maintain responsibility for meeting the standards and requirements of the REEP program," the bill says.

VP deserves incarceration in bunker

More on (or moron) the Democrat Lunatic front. We all remember that after 9/11, occasionally Dick Cheney was said to be in an "undisclosed location". The purpose was to preserve the chain of command authority of the federal government and the military in case the leadership was otherwise decapitated. Well, the location of this secret bunker has now been divulged over casual dinner conversation by the VP himself, Joe Biden. Eleanor Clift of Newsweek says that he blabbed this classified information to his dinner companions.

Now Biden may think that it is of no major consequence if he is taken out. He is wrong. If something happens to Obama, then Joe Biden is the only bulwark standing between us and a Nancy Pelosi presidency. This is a serious matter indeed. Joe Biden must be protected at all costs!

Now if disclosing the identity of Valerie Plame, a defunct CIA spy, was a prosecutable offense, then surely this is two orders of magnitude more serious. However, when the prosecutors begin investigating, at least there won't be much of a mystery about who the leaker was. Perhaps the VP bunker in its newly-disclosed location can double as Biden's prison cell until the president pardons him.

Ironically, during the recent presidential primary campaign Joe Biden told CNN's Candy Crowley that he might "save the world" if voters elected him president. What a dunce.
