DIY Ribbon American Flag

Ya'll! I hit the crafting jack-pot! My oldest daughter is making all my "Pinterest dreams" come true.

You know all those things I have pinned (see here) but have never actually gotten around to making. Well I found someone to make them! My kids! Before you laugh, take a took at this DIY Ribbon American Flag my oldest made. It turned out so cute.

T-Shirt Hacks {4th of July Fashion}

Happy Summer friends! With the 4th of July just around the corner, the girls and I wanted to put together some cute 'diy fashion' to wear to the Lake. We love how they turned out and can't wait to share our new 't-shirt hacks' with you!

Make a Cute Tank with a Bow on the Back (T-Shirt Hack)

Did you have a great 4th of July? We sure did! With all the festivities, my girls and I need something patriotic to wear. I was at Michael's and found some "Americana" t-shirts. I loved the graphics (how cute are the designs?!), but the shape wasn't great (big and boxy) and they only came in adult sizes. So I bought three of them and decided to try out a new t-shirt hack.

This hack is easy, turn a boxy T-Shirt into a Racer Back Tank with a Bow!

1. Cut off the sleeves. I cut inside the seam. Start with less, you can always cut off more if needed.

2. On the back only, cut in little deeper- so it looks like a racer back tank.

3. Cut the bottom of shirt to the desired length. All three of these shirts are an adult small, but after the hack- one fit my 5 year old and one fit my 9 year old. To get the length 'just right'- use a shirt you already own as a guide. Lay it on top to help you figure out how much to cut off the bottom. I also rounded it instead of cutting straight across. It makes the shirt 'hang' cuter.

4. Use a scrap from the sleeve to gather the back of the tank. Tie the scrap into a knot - which looks like a bow!

We wore the shirts to both the 'Stars and Stripes in Southlake' on July 3rd and our neighborhood 'Bike Parade' on July 4th.

Now that the holiday weekend is over, I am going to try this t-shirt hack with some of my girls' other t-shirts. This would be cute for a camp shirt don't you think?

So last night while running errands, the glow of our local "Old Navy" lured me inside with promises of "$2, $4, $6, $8" shirts for the whole family! I had intentions of buying plain white tanks or tees and then using one of the craft ideas above to create 'the perfect 4th of July shirt'.

However, that plan went out the window when I saw these cute shirts. I figured they were a better 'value' because the girls can wear them long after July 4th passes. And because I am so tired from all of our summer activities and remodel projects, I honestly didn't have it in me to craft special shirts this year.  But it was fun to think about right?! Hopefully I inspired at least one of you to try a crafty 4th of July shirt! And if not, we can all agree---sometimes "BUY" feels just as good as "DIY" :)

Fingers crossed I will find the motivation to at least make these "Let Freedom Ring" Ring Pops or an adorable Pipe Cleaner Sparkler Crowns.  Pinterest... it gets me every time!

Happy Fourth of July! I hope you are celebrating the USA with your family and friends today. We spent last night watching fireworks with friends. Today, we are heading to my Dad's house for a cook-out.

Red, White & Blue-- With Chevron {Shop Update}

"All American" Styles by SAMANTHA CONNER DESIGNS

I am all about the nautical look for summer. Red, white, and blue. It is so summery, happy, and fun. New to the shop this summer are chic styles for all those summer holidays- Memorial Day thru Labor Day. These accessories can be worn by babies thru adults. Add a headband to a pair of crisp white trousers and a chambray shirt for an instant "patriotic" look. Or clip a rosette to a white t-shirt and jeans for an "all American" style. What girl doesn't need a little 'red,white and blue' in her wardrobe?

Perfect as gifts for your daughter, your friend, your granddaughter, your sister-- or yourself!

A Recipe for "Smiles"

How is it that July will be here on Sunday? This summer is going by more quickly than I anticipated! The girls had swim lessons the past two weeks and after some tears on the first few days (from Maisy) all went well. Afton loved every minute of it and Maisy is learning to follow in her foot-steps.

We've  also been finding ways to beat the 'hotter than hot' North Texas heat. Indoor tea parties, lots of Barbie-playing and making silly snacks. These apple smiles are from "Highlights" magazine. Both girls gobbled them down, a fun way to eat fruit! You could use peanut butter or cream cheese to hold the marshmallow teeth in place :)

I have been busy with blogging and working on my little business. The girls went down to Dallas Market with me and got to see the showroom. They were more excited about the bus ride from the parking garage to market than anything else! I love that my girls can be along for this journey.

If you follow me on facebook, you probably know that I am running a sale right now in my Etsy shop. I want to get a rid of few things to make room for some beautiful new items, so pop over and take a look.

These patriotic colors are perfect for summer, the 4th of July, Labor Day, and anytime you feel like wearing some "R,W &B".
