Author Guidelines

Please review the author guidelines. Writing for the web is different than writing for a print publication... It is not a literary contest. It is an information contest.

TO SUBMIT YOUR ARTICLE...

First, the author needs to be a Registered Member so that you can choose your own username and password to submit and edit your article. Register now. If you are not sure whether you are registered or forgot your password or username, just click here (receiving our emails does not mean that you are registered).

Second, submit your article using this simple form.

PLEASE FOLLOW THESE SIMPLE GUIDELINES...

  • Focus on your audience: the major and mega donors.
  • Provide significant and valuable information of interest to donors.
  • Edit vigorously... it is all about providing information for donors.
  • Each article can be as long as you need... but no longer. Edit, edit, edit to avoid extraneous wording. As a guideline: many of our articles are 1,000 words for the public page and similar length for the part which is exclusive to Registered Members.

  • On the web, people scan more than they read. Use many SECTION HEADLINES (IN CAPITALS AND BOLD) to draw the reader to your next paragraph.
  • Use short sentences. And short paragraphs (1 to 3 sentences maximum). Notice how this page is written... use a similar style.
  • Pack your sentences with the words that matter. Internet readers want high-content articles.

There are many type of articles, please review the Authorship Opportunities and contact us with your ideas.

Once we are in agreement, you can write your article in any word processor and copy and paste it onto our Submission Form.

After you have submitted your article, we will assist you with the title and headline so that they meet our overall scheme.

PROVIDE EXCLUSIVE INFORMATION

Information in most websites is open to everybody to see. eQualityGiving allows you to have a second part of your article that can be viewed only by Registered Members. This is a middle point between no confidentiality afforded by regular websites to the confidentiality of hanging a numbered report to somebody.

eQualityGiving's Registered Members are vetted. We work hard to limit registration to donors, staff of non-profits, and in general bona-fide people committed to equality for LGBTQ Americans.

Authors can also provide attachments. If placed in a public page, the attachments will be available to everybody. Attachments can also be placed so that only Registered Members can access them.

eQualityGiving can also host videos and pictures (both for public viewing or only for Registered Members).

KEEP ON TOPIC

Since you can edit directly on our servers, some authors could feel that they can change the topic of the article at will. Update the article as often as you wish, but do not change the topic. Only one, very focused topic per article, please.

If you want to talk about a different topic, contact us and we will be glad to provide additional pages for you.

BLOG ABOUT YOUR ARTICLE

Feel free to post to eQualityGiving's What's New Blog about your article when it is first published or when it is updated... or when you have news that you think are of interest to donors.

This blog is exclusive for eQualityGiving's authors and your submission is posted immediately and automatically. After posting you can edit your posting at any time.

You can also post in the Discussion Network about your article or significant updates.

Feel free to link to the article on your website or distribute a link via email to your lists.

KEEP YOUR ARTICLE UP TO DATE

We will send you a gentle reminder twice a year, but feel free to update your article at any time. You can edit your article from anywhere in the world, at any time, without our participation. It is simple... check our guidelines for telling the world about your article as well as updating it.
