    Memorandum

despite your long resume, you were patient with my inexperience:
overheads beforehand, sticky notes during, and after, a wrap session
detailing early growth, highlights, ups and downs. Your conclusion:
    I was worth investment.

you monitored the coming months with the same precision:
you presented improving trends, widening pie chart wedges,
and thicker dividends, so I was staggered
    to receive your two-week’s notice.

I acted unprofessionally then, for the first time
in our textbook office romance. I apologize.
All mergers end, all partnerships dissolve,
and I prefer to remember that first presentation:
your assets under sticky censor squares,
yellow reminders of what went where.

I'm glad to see you back. I found you highly entertaining last year. I see you're starting out highly suggestive again. Hope you can stay for the duration. Or at least give a two week notice?

Wow, I can't believe I made that lingering an impression, PClem, newleaf. Thanks for stopping by, Sorella, jppoetryreader.

Thanks for having me back, and for all the kind words, everyone. We'll see if I prove more durable this year.

great stuff, it reminded me of the office environment and culture and the relationship really emerged out of that and was dealt with humor which is always great to read

"Memorandum" is a good idea with a decent execution, a good piece to start NAPO with--something good to use as the basis for revision.

    Looking forward to more.

#2, more on time. Thanks to GiantRumblebuffin (great name!) and BrianIsAtYou for the encouragement.

Sir Gawain and the Brazen Hussy

You were supposed to be the token around my bicep
but you made me a notch in your garter belt.
I tried to pour you French wine,
already, you’d mixed yourself a cocktail.

I won the joust and its cash reward, but
when I arrived at your door, clothes bloody and torn
your father explained you had a job of your own
and that you’d never be content to wait at home.

Locked in the linens with some other flapper
at the petting party you hosted for me,
tasting her gin-lips and inhaling her cigarette breath,
I felt closer to you than ever before
understanding, at last, that I have more fun
doffing my armor and donning a rubber.

This small-town knight, lost in the big city,
    thanks the rouge-painted, high-hemmed princess
for derailing the tale and rescuing him.

Acoylte! Office sex is one my favorite topics...so your memorandum is memorable! I like your knight and his hussy, too. Heheheh. Truck on!

Smut as a theme? I like it. >>

Great to see you, good to read you, hope all's well. Loved that you used 'flapper', loved the yellow notes. I'll be back.

Love this twist on the knight in shining armor theme twisted further on the girl used and abused theme. What a fun romp!

    hey A,

It's not too painful is it?
I think 'Sir Gawain and the Brazen Hussy' has a lot going for it, 'Memorandum' too. By the end of this you'll have plenty to work on in the coming months.

    See ya,
    Mike

Sir Gawain and the Brazen Hussy is a fascinating disintegration of traditional roles. Well done!
