COCONINOITE
Specimen coc-1

$ 20.00
Dims: 1.9" x 1.5" x 1.3" (4.8 x 3.8 x 3.3 cm)
Wt: 2.14 oz. (60.7 g)
White Canyon Mining District, San Juan County, Colorado, U.S.A.
A rather nondescript-looking specimen, this piece consists of a pale-brown host rock that has patches and thin veins of Coconinoite, a rather rare uranium-bearing phosphate mineral, running through it. The Coconinoite exhibits no crystal form or habits. It has a pale-yellow color, a dull, matte luster, and is opaque. It does not glow appreciably under either short- or long-wave UV light, but there are some tiny spots that do, which probably consist of other uranium minerals.
