"Come on Spend That Dirty Sexy Money on Me"

The track below is another reminder of how woven into pop culture EDM has become. If you listen to the track below, you'd have to wait a full 45 seconds to have a clue that David Guetta or Afrojack produced the track. The soft keys to open the track and vocal lead in by Charli XCX would lead you to believe Dirty Sexy Money is a ballad. Unsurprisingly it's anything but that with a high energy drop and steadily increasing tempo throughout the track. Unfortunately there's a half minute of filler courtesy of French Montana around the two minute mark, but his presence doesn't entirely sink the potential of the track. It's still a fun track that has some Top 40 potential, so hopefully it leaves a more lasting taste in your mouth than Big League Chew...#DirtySexyMoney

"Let's Catch a Shooting Star in the Sky and Rise"

A few months back I posted a warning shot from an up and comer named Whethan. Well, it didn't take him long to hit his stride because his new one with Charli XCX is bangin'! On first listen the edgy guitar riff caught my attention. The more I listen to it, the more I appreciate how Charli's soft vocals contrast with the heavy beat and stop and go tempo. The icing on the cake was that soothing chord progression around the two minute mark that invites you to come closer before smacking you in the face with another drop. Lucky for us, there are more than one free way to enjoy this one below. Enjoy picking a favorite below or head on over to iTunes or Spotify if you're already sold...#LoveGang

Alan Walker Goes After the Afterparty

There's heating up NBA Jam style and then there's whatever Alan Walker is after yet another stellar release. At this point on the verge of being convinced that I genuinely like his style of using high-pitched, whiny synths to capture your attention. I wasn't a huge fan of Charli XCX and Lil Yachty's original version of After the Afterparty, but you overlay an ethereal, calming beat and I'm all about the remix. For comparison, check out the video for the original below...

Side note - does anyone else hear Icona Pop when listening to Charli's vocals? Hard for me to distinguish, but they work just fine for a party starter like the one below.

Remix aside, I hope a full length album becomes a reality for Alan in 2017. He's been so consistent at churning out great music, it's about time he makes the leap to super stardom...#AfterTheAfterparty

Keys N Krates Are Doing It and Doing It Well

High pitched, bouncy and repetitive. Those are the words I would associate with Keys N Krates general sound. It doesn't matter if they are remixing or on their own, they have an amped up style that is hard to mistake with anyone else's. I don't care how successful your style may or may not be, the fact that people can pick your music out in a crowded genre of EDM is a win.

For reference, the original version of Charli XCX and Rita Ora's track is below if you haven't heard it on Top 40 yet...
It will be hard to top the success of the original version of the track, but anytime a remix can successfully reimagine a core element of the original track (like tempo or bass for example), I'd consider it a success. Chalk another one up for Keys N Krates who found a way to twist the original into a position that I'm board with...#DoingIt
