My favorite holiday

I just love Thanksgiving.

Lily does too.
he pups are waiting for Gary to drop something while carving the turkey.
Look at her tongue sticking out.

I'm super thankful for our new home this year. We are loving it and we are happy to have invited family to join us in our turkey day feast!

Look at the adorable bottles my momma made me for decor.  I'm going to keep them around all year long, I just love them!

I love food!

I'm so excited we are sitting on our deck. Gary and his awesome buddies build us a deck and we are loving it.  We plan to finish staining it in a few months, but for now it is a wonderful addition to our backyard.  The pups are loving laying on it and sunbathing.

We are blessed and so thankful!

12 on the 11th

Layla's birthday cake of the year was cookie cake this year.  She woke up 12 years old and decided to have cookie cake for breakfast.  We have to stick to our traditions!!

Birthday selfie!!

Layla had 3 friends over for a birthday sleepover.  They painted shirts, jumped on the trampoline and giggled a TON!

She was thrilled to have buddies come to our new house.  We are getting settled in, but that didn't stop her from having a fun sleepover party!

We are thankful for our 12 year old!
Happy Happy Day!

Last day of school!!!

I can't believe it is the last day of school for these two!

I'm thrilled for them.  They have worked so hard this year.  They have been super busy with soccer and volley ball.  We had activities every night for weeks and weeks and they did great!

Hayden has one more year in elementary school.  He will finish out 4th grade next year.  I'm so excited for him!

Layla is moving up to middle school.  She's our 7th grader!

Goodness I just love my cuties!

I survived my first year as a working mom.  I managed to find a way to keep us all fed and alive.  We all had clean laundry and a somewhat clean house!  It was a wonderful year for me and I wouldn't trade it for anything.  I'm thrilled I decided to go back to work!

We are so ready to dive into summer!!

a picture for your thoughts

I know this is a strange photo.

Do you ever have moments you just don't want to forget?  I have them often and I can't always remember them all, but I try.  I try to stick them somewhere in this busy momma brain so I won't forget.

One memory I will never forget:  Gary, Layla and I moved into our house in Haslet.  We just closed and signed paperwork on our house.  Our very first home purchase.  We watched it being built.  I was sitting in the hallway on the fresh brand new carpet.  Gary was in the playroom that eventually turned to Layla's bedroom.  It was right next door to what was eventually Hayden's room before he was even born.  Dang, that was a mouthful.  I remember like it was yesterday.  I can still see Gary's back.  In shorts of course, because that is Gary.  He was measuring windows for blinds.  I prayed at that moment for Layla, for our family to be and I asked God to bless that house and all who stepped foot into it.  What wonderful memories we made there, but also what hurt we endured there too.  Life isn't perfect, but I will always remember that moment like it was yesterday.  I was a good memory very similar to this picture.

In the above photo Layla is letting me blow dry her hair.  Have you ever wondered when would be the last time you would blow dry your childs hair?  Layla is 11. She is going to middle school next year and she will be able to do her own hair.  I'll cherish every brush stroke, every single time she lets me blow dry her hair.  I don't want it to be the last time.  I'll always remember this moment just like sitting on the carpet of our new house.

Also in the picture I see her lotions.  She loves smelly lotions.  Lotions I never used until high school, but she loves them and saves her money to buy fun lotions.  That's Layla.  I see her cute outfit.  She carefully picked it out to attend a birthday party with friends.  I see her royal blue shirt.  The one that makes her eyes pop!

I see the pink bathroom in this silly little awful rent house.  I will certainly never forget this moment in this bathroom.  I'm thankful for his house, but at the same time I can't stand it.  This house helped us move back to Texas, so while I don't like it, I love it.  I'll always remember the pink bathroom.  The first thing Hayden did in this pink bathroom the day we moved in was barf on the carpet.  Yes, I said carpet in the bathroom.  Who does that?? Who puts carpet in the bathroom?

Since I mentioned Hayden.  In this picture, I see his water, his lotions and his soap.  He can't take a shower in the local water.  He's allergic to it, so we sponge bathe him with bottled water.  When I look at this picture I see and will never forget this stage of our life.  This chapter in Hayden's life and the way having eczema has affected our entire family.  I will always remember.  We are stronger because if it!

I encourage you to stop and look at a picture now and again. When you do, really look and devour every single detail. Stop and think back to a time in the past you remember.  Think about a good time, or a bad time.  Think about how you learned and how it made you grow.  Every single moment, good or bad shapes our lives and our character.  I will cherish the moment I was blow drying Layla's hair.  I'll remember the little moments, just like I did sitting on the carpet in our first home.

Spring Break 2017

We stayed in town for spring break this year and we ended up having so much fun!

We found the Pokey O's truck and had ice cream sandwiches.

We went to the Dr. Pepper Museum and to the zoo.

Hayden rode his motorcycle and we all went to watch him.  I loved watching him and I ended up sitting in the cool breeze watching him ride.  It was a nice day in the sunshine, but it was cloudy some too.

We had dinner with friends at the lake.

The sunset at the lake was perfection!

Layla has been on the trampoline every waking moment perfecting her back flips and back handsprings.  She moved to the gym mat for a bit.  She's just loving tumbling so much!

We went roller skating with friends and then out for milk shakes.

And when Hayden wasn't riding his motorcycle he was riding his bicycle.  The boy is obsessed with everything that has wheels.

The first Saturday of spring break we made a quick road trip to Georgetown.  It was a rainy mess, but we had fun exploring.  We made a pit-stop at Buc-ee's.  The kids declared it the best store ever.  It was a fun outing.

We did tons of exploring here in town and had a wonderful 'staycation' instead of traveling.

Ho Ho Ho!!

Today was the last day of school and Christmas break is in full swing!  The weather was wonderful outside and so these two silly heads were outside being goofy.  Guess who had her camera handy to snap a few pics?  Their mother of course!!!!

Who needs to mail out Christmas cards when your momma takes pics and posts them EVERY.SINGLE.DAY?

My guy needs a haircut and so that is on the list for tomorrow, but goodness I love these two!

Layla is so flexible...Am I right?

We can't believe our first Christmas living back in Texas is finally here!!

our weekend in fredricksburg

Gary planned a weekend getaway for us and surprised me with it!

I am not that great at receiving surprises, so he ended up telling me where we were going before we left so I could pack correctly.  I'm super grateful for all he did in planning a fun weekend for us and our buddies.

We stayed at a Bed n Breakfast in Fredricksburg, very very close to Luckenbach. It's called the Full Moon Inn.  It was very quint and perfect.

It was cold and rainy all weekend so we didn't get to enjoy the outdoors, but we still made the best of our kid free weekend.  Every once in awhile it is important to just get away from it all!

Breakfast was served promptly each morning at 9:00am.

Saturday morning we had breakfast with several other couples and one family with children.

We had eggs Luckenbach, pumpkin pancakes and yummy bacon.  We had coffee in our room before breakfast and we also had coffee with breakfast.  I know it sounds odd to comment on the coffee, but it was fabulous.  I should have asked what kind of coffee they served, but I didn't.  It wasn't just your basic Folgers though.

Gary and I chose the Smoke House Cottage.  Our buddies stayed in the Peach room.  Both rooms were very cute and cozy, but the Peach room is more modern and updated.  Gary and I loved the old fashioned and rustic look of our choice.

After our breakfast we headed to a winery to sample some great wine.  I don't think I've ever tasted port.  I'm not sure how that hasn't been in my life until now.  It was such a wonderful treat and Gary and I ended up buying several bottles of wine and joining the  GrapeCreek wine club.

The scenery was fabulous and I'm so excited to go back in the spring so I can enjoy a glass of wine on their many patios!!

We left the winery and headed to a brewery to watch some football.

We were freezing cold and had frizzy hair, but that didn't stop us from sampling a few beers at  the Fredrickburg Brewery.  I love trying different beers!

After a delicious German lunch we headed to Luckenbach before heading back to our rooms before dinner.  I was disappointed with Luckenbach, but I won't discount it all together. We must go back in better weather!  I'm sure I'll love it more then.  I thought I had memories of Luckenbach from childhood and seeing it again at age 40...it just wasn't the same.

See the cat on the counter??  It was bizarre and the flies y'all.  There were flies buzzing around everywhere.  I couldn't believe it.  Maybe they were drawn to the wood burning fireplace.  Who knows?!?

Look at that cool little Christmas tree to the right of us. I thought it was perfect!

After our tour of Luckenbach we headed back to the Full Moon Inn.  We watched more football and got ready for dinner.

The common area was so fun and inviting.

So cozy and warm!

********

Gary and Jarred chose Cross Roads for dinner and dancing after.

We had happy hour in the bar area while we waited on our table.  Ok, so yes I'm going there....

This table looks like a butt.  What in the world?  LOLOLOLOL! I'm such a child.

I was craving chicken fried steak and this one was amazing.

Gary ordered quail, Jarred ordered a steak and Shelby ordered the flounder special.  All the food was wonderful!  I was hoping to dance off the steak I ordered, but the band wasn't what we expected.  We had hopes of doing some country dancing, but the band wasn't that.  I can't even explain what kind of music they played but it was modern with a side of jazz and the crowd was loving it WAY more than us 40 something old people.  It wasn't what we visualized in Fredricksburg.

All in all we had a great time.  We relaxed and enjoyed our time away!  I'm very thankful for my wonderful husband for planning every last detail of a wonderful weekend away. If you are looking for a Bed n Breakfast in the Texas Hill Country you must visit the Full Moon Inn.
Now I want to own my own bed and breakfast even more that I did before.
