Little Gingham Skirt

Monday, August 1, 2016

Somehow July has come and gone and it's already August 1st today! August always was a big month for me when I was still a student, it often involved back to school shopping, moving to a new dorm, starting a new semester, seeing old friends again, and all together big changes.

One of the biggest adjustments post-college is that there's no big "new start" every year like when you're in college and even grade school. All the same, I still like to savor every moment of summer, and that includes dressing the part.

I scooped up this cute little gingham mini skirt from J.Crew on sale in July and I'm so happy I decided to bite the bullet and buy it. It's the perfect piece to wear to dinner, going out, or hanging out on a hot summer afternoon. I wore this outfit on Friday night when we had our friends Laura and Kevin from my work over for dinner, I liked the combo of the white cropped top with the high-waisted gingham skirt so much I wanted to share it here on the blog.

Pink Summer Sweater

Wednesday, July 20, 2016

summer_sweater
When the sun begins to set and the nights begin to cool down there's nothing better than a lightweight sweater to wear in the summer. I am always cold so I'm actually shocked that I don't have more lightweight summer sweaters

We took these pictures at my favorite park, Peace Valley Park, on my way to my parents' house on Saturday afternoon. It had been a rough morning (read this post for my information on that) and so it was really nice to walk near the lake in one of my favorite spots growing up. Fun fact, I actually learned how to drive in the parking lot of this park!

I paired this lightweight sweater that I scored on mega-sale with my new favorite cut-off jean shorts. I know this outfit will take me into the fall on those Indian summer days and cool nights.

I'm also kind of surprised I don't own more pink in my wardrobe. Looking at these pictures I really like how it pops against the denim shorts! I am also a Phi Mu alumna and our colors are pink and white, so I should probably start buying some more pink tops!

What do you think of this look? I hope everyone has a great Wednesday!

A Walk in the Park

blue_white_seersucker_top
I have spent the last couple years stocking up my closet with fun, easy tops to throw on in the summer. This little seersucker top is no exception. I love how comfortable, breezy, and downright easy it is to throw on with a pair of shorts and sandals, BAM instant cute outfit!

I wore this top up to my parents' house in Bucks County, Pennsylvania over the weekend. We had a little BBQ and pool party on Saturday night and then went to grab breakfast at one of my dad's favorite spots, The Yardley Inn, on Sunday morning. Alex and I took these photos after brunch at Washington Crossing State Park; yes this is where George Washington crossed the Delaware in the Revolutionary War (they even do a reenactment every year on Christmas Day).

On another note, these little jean shorts from Gap are so comfortable! I've been wanting a pair of cute destroyed denim shorts for awhile, we stopped into the Gap over the weekend and I found this pair on major sale! I was so excited I scooped up a pair in white too!

Now, on a personal note. Before heading to Bucks County this weekend we had a little bit of a rough Saturday morning. If you follow me on Twitter or Snapchat (@lauraaimevous) then you might have seen what happened in the apartment over the weekend. Basically, I woke up on Saturday morning, got ready, and ran out to my favorite coffee shop (Peddler Coffee) to grab breakfast, leaving my phone at home. I came home about ten minutes later and Alex was distraught asking me to call to the landlord immediately. The hot water heater had broken and water was pouring out of our bathroom ceiling!

Long story short, the landlord came over and turned off the heater, stopping anymore water from coming out. We now have a hole in the ceiling and are waiting for a plumber to come today to repair or replace the unit. As for the ceiling that will need to be fixed too. Not sure how long this whole process will take, but we will be having to shower at the gym for the time being.

Anyways, hopefully things turn around this week! I am thankful for a nice weekend with my family and friends, upcoming trips to look forward to, and a good job, things could be a lot worse!

How were your weekends? I hope you all have a good Monday and a great week!

Summer Brights

Monday, July 11, 2016

Wearing bright colors is something I like to do year round. Even though I relish the navy, black, and gray pieces in my wardrobe I also like to mix it up and wear pops of bright colors to spruce things up.
If you're a regular reader around here, by now you're well aware of my addiction to blue and white outfits. Well, I decided to mix it up today and add a couple more colors to the mix. By pairing my M.Gemi Stellato flats (so comfortable) and my favorite little neon crossbody bag.
This outfit was perfect for the rare cool morning we had on Saturday. I wore to run and grab some coffee and then hang out with Alex in the morning before going to my hometown to visit my parents and then go to my friend Concetta's pool party!
Another trend I'm loving lately? The tie-front tops that are popping up anywhere. I love the trend in t-shirts (like this outfit I wore here) and I decided it would be fun to try one of the button-downs in a similar style. I love how it adds a pop of interest to an otherwise simple outfit.

One last thing, these flats are from M.Gemi, a new-ish brand which sells luxury Italian crafted shoes for significantly less mark-up than their brand name counter parts. I can personally attest to the amazing quality of the shoes. I decided to get the Stellato style which were inspired by a smoking slipper. They're so comfortable, literally no break-in time. These will be my go-to work shoes for days with lots of meetings and running around, but I also plan on packing them in my suitcase for my upcoming vacation with Alex in August.

Do you like mixing bright colors together? Have you tried the tie-front trend yet? I hope everyone has a great Monday!

Striped Knot Tee (Perfect Outfit for 4th of July)

Friday, July 1, 2016

Happy first day of July! And happy Canada Day to any Canadian readers out there! Can you believe we're already at the halfway mark in 2016? Where did the time go? Anyways, when this post goes live I will be on a ferry heading to Nantucket to spend my Fourth of July weekend with some of my best friends! I'm so excited for a long weekend filled with beach time, bike rides, delicious drinks, seafood, and laughter.

Speaking of Fourth of July, do you know what you're going to wear? If not, no worries because the outfit I'm sharing today would be perfect for the fourth!

I scooped up this little knot-front t-shirt from Nordstrom in the beginning of the month since it was such a steal at under $25. I'd been wanting something to wear the knotted trend this summer so this shirt seemed like a no brainer.
Striped_Knot_Front_T-shirt

I decided to pair the shirt with my stay-white jeans from Old Navy...seriously the best ever, when we were in L.A. I spilled salsa on these and it didn't even sink into the pants, you can't tell! I love a good white jean in the summer, and these have been a staple in my closet. I also added in my favorite sneakers, Adidas Stan Smiths! They run large, I sized down a half-size but if you're in-between sizes I'd go down a whole size!

This outfit will be in my suitcase for Nantucket this weekend and I'm sure I'll have it on repeat all summer, it's just so easy and comfortable!

What are you doing for the Fourth of July? Any ideas what you're going to be wearing yet?

Little White Dress

Monday, June 27, 2016

Hey everyone! How were your weekends? Like I said in my post on Friday, I didn't really have any concrete plans this weekend, and that turned out to be amazing! On Saturday, Alex and I decided to drive up to Carousel Lavender Farm to explore after getting the idea from Chelsea's summer bucket list on her blog! While we were there I couldn't pass up the amazing photo opportunities for the blog...and I also had just happened to receive this adorable little white dress (a summer staple) in the mail!

If you are in the Philadelphia or Bucks County area I highly recommend the drive out to the farm! It's open on Saturdays and Sundays in the summer and it's free! There other people on the grounds taking photos, painting pictures, and enjoying the day. It's really a nice place to spend your time in the summer. After taking these photos we also had to check out the store on site, especially since I LOVE the smell of lavender. I bought a lavender cucumber candle which smells amazing! I've never heard of that combination before but it seriously smells so good.

After exploring the farm we headed to nearby Lambertville, New Jersey for lunch at Lilly's on the Canal (one of my favorite spots) and ice cream at oWowcow Creamery. It was really the perfect Saturday afternoon with the perfect weather.

And a little note on this outfit. This dress is just PERFECT. I've been looking for a go-to little white dress for summer and I saw Jess wear this on her blog a few weeks ago. It's the perfect length and I love the the lace details. I paired this dress with my suede red Franco Sarto platform espadrilles (so comfortable and on trend for summer) and my favorite turquoise tassel earrings. I guess I was kind of going for the 'red white and blue' look with this outfit, Fourth of July is just around the corner!

What did you do this weekend? Do you have a go-to little white dress?

P.S. There's still time to enter my giveaway for a veggie spiralizer! Enter to win right here!
