I may be gone for a bit

********************
Why is that just about the time that I think things are going well, something comes along out of the blue and totally derails that particular thought? I would imagine that there is one of Murphy's Laws floating around out there somewhere that applies but right now I'm probably on too many drugs to really remember what it might be.

As some of you may or not know, I had some major back issues just about two years ago to the day that put me out of commission for several months with some of the worst pain of my entire life. This pain was so bad that I wouldn't have even wished it on my ex-husband! After a series of steroid epidural injections in the Spring, I eventually had lumbar back surgery in August of 2005 which seemed to repair the problem. Of course, since then I have been scared to death that I'm going to sneeze or move the wrong way or something and cause a relapse.

Last night when I went to bed, I had a minor backache that didn't really seem to be much of anything but when it came time to try to get out of bed this morning - not possible. The small ache in my lower back had turned into a full blown ache starting in my lower back and traveling down both of my legs. Oh boy ...

back painI managed to hobble downstairs and take a Flexerel and Ultracet (leftovers from two years ago that, thankfully, haven't expired yet) and then I worked my way back upstairs and into bed where I have been since then. I have no idea when I'm going to be able to get back out of bed again as just a simple trip to the bathroom is cause for excruciating pain and I'm in no great hurry to inflict that upon myself. Call me a wuss if you'd like but I don't do real well with pain and try to avoid it whenever possible.

I am hoping that this backache can be attributed to weather patterns (I think there's a storm moving in) or something simple that will clear itself up soon as I can't think of anything that I've done that would cause my back to go out on me again. Granted, once you have herniated discs, you always have herniated discs and no doubt they'll flare up once in awhile so I can only hope that's what this is and nothing more serious than that.

In the meantime, even though I have the laptop and can get on-line, I don't plan on doing a whole lot with it because the medications that I'm taking make me kind of fuzzy around the edges so I'm posting now to say that I may not be posting again anytime soon. I'm definitely sure I won't be doing tomorrow's Photo Hunt but if I'm not feeling too loopy, I will try to get around to a few other people's pages.

Anyhow, just wanted to let folks now what's up (not me!) if I don't have the chance to post in awhile or come by to visit your pages.

Everyone else take care and hopefully I'll be feeling better soon!

  5. Oh no!! You might want to get the MD on the phone if it's not better by Monday. DO NOT take chances! Meanwhile, you're in mine & "Mrs. Bulldog"'s prayers. If it gets too bad, call for transport - I'll make sure I'm on the ambulance if you call @ night. Wouldn't be the first time we did this for you - right? That's what friends are for.

  9. Feel better soon. But, I will tell you we had a storm move thru here last monday and tuesday in Oregon going your way after that. Everybody I knew was aching. Even my dog if she sat very long when she got up she could hardly walk she would hobble. Now she is perfectly fine. Weird. wooooo what's going on. If your way better in a couple days. I am going to blame that dang storm. wooooooooo to weird. Let us know how you are girl. Send up a flag once in a while that says still alive or something. Don't just check out like what happened to skittle's last week and then everybody's wondering. Well, caring about you here in Oregon girl. We had a great idea about our fix yourself page. But, I am thinking we are both so damn busy. we have good intentions.
Someday when we are super old we may have time. Ha Ha yeah right.

Take care, Linda. I hope you'll be better soon, too. I have one bad backache in my life and I thought it might have been more merciful to shoot me. I don't know how you are able to tolerate it.

  12. Linda, here's hoping you feel better soon. It could have been all that science the day before, but I would think it would start at the top of your neck and work it's way down. Take care, prayers and hugs your way.

    Linda,
So sorry to hear of your pain--I hope you feel much better soon. Seeing as I enjoy reading you when you are "normal", I think I would love to read what you blog while on Med--might be pretty hysterical!!! hahahaha
On another note, if for some reason this doesn't clear up, I thought I'd let you know that I would be willing to take Amanda to the MCR concert for you (she says with a sly grin!!). You know, as the most caring and wonderful mother that you are, you would just HATE for your precious daughter to have to miss that concert. I would be more that willing to give up a great night at home to take Amanda. I know it would be a sacrifice (hehehehe) on my part, but I think I could do it for you!!!!!! hahahaha

Seiously, take care, and get better soon!!

Hi, Linda. I'm sad to hear that your back is causing you so much pain. I don't do this often, but I'm putting my wit on ice this one time so I can wish you better days ahead.

OK, wait ... is your pain in the back anything like the pain in my ass who used to live next door to me several years ago?

Well ... THAT didn't last long, did it!

    hee hee

I am thinking good thoughts for you, Linda. You rock. Get better soon, girl.

I hope you have the best doctors and hospitals. It makes all the difference.

  23. Oh no Linda!!!! I'm so, so sorry to hear this!!!

You might know that hubby has had back problems over the years and just had his back surgery at the end of last summer.. so I know the pain you are talking about. Even the thing with the legs. He still has trouble with one of them not working as well as it should.

I hope you've called your doctor???

    Sending you hugs and prayers!!!!!
