The 13 Best ‘Boruto’ Ships, Ranked
Vote up your favorite Boruto ships.
While fans don't necessarily put as much energy into shipping Boruto couples as they do into Naruto, the sequel series still has an active fandom with a lot of opinions about who should fall in love with who.
One of the most popular Boruto ships involves the protagonist Boruto Uzumaki and his teammate Sarada Uchiha. Though they bicker a bit, the two have a great rapport with one another. But some people prefer these characters with other people - some would rather see Boruto with Mitsuki, and see Sarada with Kawaki. For fans who aren't interested in romance between the kids, there's always Konohamaru x Hanabi - two buddies who are often seen drinking together.
Who do you think is the best couple in Boruto?

Konohamaru x Hanabi

Hinata's little sister Hanabi didn't have much of a role in the original Naruto, but now that she's an adult leading her own team of neophyte shinobi, she shows up a lot more often - and she spends plenty of time hanging out with other jonin. One of the people she spends the most time with is Konohamaru. The two are frequently seen drinking together, or discussing problems with their students. Hanabi is a lot more laid-back than Konohamaru is, which means that she doesn't get as worked up about things and can sometimes think more clearly, making her an excellent source of advice.
Whether the two are just good friends or something more is up to the fans, but for some, it's definitely romantic.

Boruto x Sarada

Boruto and Sarada are close friends and teammates who have been through everything from training to dangerous missions together. Some people see their relationship as more sibling-like, since they bicker like siblings and they both see Sasuke as a father figure, albeit for completely different reasons.
But the two aren't actually siblings, and it's quite possible to interpret their arguments as a reaction to romantic feelings they haven't yet admitted to themselves. They clearly care deeply about one another, and even get blushy on the rare occasion that one of them overcomes their pride enough to compliment the other.
While this doesn't apply to everyone who ships them, some people like this pair because they're similar to Sakura x Naruto, a ship that was heavily hinted at in the early days of Naruto, but which did not become canon.

Shikadai x Yodo
- Photo:

Although Yodo and Shikadai haven't spent that much time together, they make an interesting couple. Yodo is from Sunagakure, the nation that Shikadai's mother Temari hails from. She's also on Team Shinki - Shinki being Shikadai's adoptive cousin.
The two meet during the Chunin Exams when they face off against one another. While Shikadai defeats Yodo, he has a hard time with it due to her exceptional sensory skills, but he eventually figures out a strategy to defeat her.
The two end the fight with a lot of respect for one another, which is a good base for a relationship. Yodo's origins are also a good point of connection. Shikadai sometimes feels estranged from his Sunagakure heritage, a problem that could be ameliorated by getting closer to Yodo.

Mitsuki x Chocho

Most of Chocho and Mitsuki's interactions are on the jokey side, which is part of what makes them a good couple. They have fun with each other, something that isn't exactly easy for Mitsuki to do.
They do have a few moments that are a bit more emotionally resonant, When Chocho loses confidence in herself during the Chocho Arc because she's only being valued for her skinnier “Butterfly Mode” appearance, Mitsuki helps her see herself in a more positive light by using a potato chip-based metaphor that she responds to. Later, when Mitsuki is describing humans to Sekiei, Chocho's traits are the first that come to his mind, indicating that he thinks about her a lot.

Shinki x Chocho

Shinki isn't a very friendly person, and he rarely acknowledges anybody's strength, let alone a girl who is demonstrably not as strong as him. But he refuses to go easy on Chocho when they fight because he believes that that would be disrespectful and he considers her to be a worthy opponent. He also goes out of his way to support her during her Chunin Exam matches despite showing little interest in anyone else's.
Meanwhile, Chocho explicitly says that Shinki is handsome and she has a thing for him. Chocho can be kind of boy-crazy, so it's hard to know how serious she is, but that's up to the fans.

Wasabi x Namida

Wasabi and Namida might be the Izumo and Kotetsu of Boruto. Neither one is a major character, so they aren't going to be the most popular ship - but their friendship with one another is quite obvious. Though the two have very different personalities - Namida is shy and anxious while Wasabi is straightforward and fearless - the two are totally devoted to one another.
Namida occasionally displays interest in boys, which makes Wasabi jealous. This could indicate that Wasabi has a crush on Namida, which Namida might reciprocate later.

Boruto x Sumire

Sumire and Boruto are close friends who treat each other with kindness and respect. Boruto can be rude and bratty sometimes, but he rarely shows Sumire that side of himself. He's gone out of his way to protect and defend her on multiple occasions, and believed that she was inherently good despite her initial involvement with Root. Meanwhile, Sumire has explicitly claimed to have a crush on Boruto in the manga.
Because of Sumire's sweet, shy nature, many people see this ship as the next generation's answer to Naruto x Hinata. For those who liked that ship, this is very much a good thing.

Boruto x Mitsuki

Though most people would feel at least a little bit uncomfortable around Mitsuki after learning about his origins as an Orochimaru clone, all Boruto wants to do is support him. Mitsuki might see himself as a replaceable tool, but Boruto sees him as an individual person with immense value. Mitsuki has similarly passionate feelings about Boruto - he calls himself the “moon” to Boruto's “sun" and one of his greatest goals in life is to see Boruto succeed and eventually become Hokage.
The two of them demonstrate these positive feelings for one another with physical closeness - Boruto often hugs Mitsuki for no particular reason, and the two are very comfortable in each other's personal space.

Mitsuki x Sumire

Mitsuki and Sumire both have similar backgrounds - both are the children of scientists who have no qualms about using their children to fulfill their personal goals, even if it's at those children's expense. That's something that not a lot of people will easily understand, which makes it a powerful source of bonding for both of them.
They also both have calm, quiet personalities, although Sumire is a bit more prone to anxiety than Mitsuki is. Oh, and both of them harbor deep respect and admiration for Boruto.
Besides their similarities, they just seem to enjoy each other's company. That can be the most important thing in any relationship.

Kawaki x Sarada
- Photo:

A lot of people call Kawaki x Sarada the new-gen Sakura x Sasuke. Since we don't yet know how things will shake out with Kawaki, it's hard to say whether that's 100% accurate, but they do have similar vibes. Kawaki is a “bad boy” with a tragic past, while Sarada is a logical, intelligent girl who finds him fascinating. They're also both deeply connected to the protagonist, though in very different ways.
Despite being a potential enemy, Kawaki is still a lot nicer to Sarada than Sasuke was to Sakura, which means that even for those who didn't love the relationship between Sarada's parents might still appreciate this one.

Sarada x Sumire
- Photo:
- Boruto: Naruto Next Generations
- Studio Pierrot
While this may not be the most popular ship involving either Sarada or Sumire, it does have a following. People like the ship because both girls are close friends who support and trust one another. They rarely argue, and are often seen standing up for each other against others. The two sometimes communicate through eye contact, which is something that people typically have to know each other pretty well to do effectively.
In the manga, Sumire asks Sarada if she has a crush on Boruto, and seems relieved when she says no. While many people interpret this as Sumire's interest in Boruto, it's also possible to interpret it as Sumire being happy that Sarada isn't crushing on someone else.

Shikadai x Boruto
- Photo:
- Boruto: Naruto Next Generations

Like Naruto and Shikamaru before them, Boruto and Shikadai are good friends. They're frequently seen having fun together playing video games, training, and otherwise enjoying each other's company. But their relationship goes beyond just being fun. Shikadai encourages Boruto to be a better version of himself - he's often seen counseling Boruto about how to behave in a more mature way. Although he's disappointed and hurt when Boruto cheats during their Chunin Exams battle, he ultimately forgives him when he sincerely apologizes, which proves that their friendship is strong.
The two also have something major in common - Boruto's father is the Hokage and his mother is a Hyuga, while Shikadai's uncle is the Kazekage, plus he's carrying the expectations of the whole Nara clan. This sort of storied lineage puts a lot of pressure on them both, which helps them understand each other.

Sarada x Chocho

When Sarada isn't hanging out with Sumire or her team, she's hanging out with Chocho. The good thing about their relationship is that while they obviously have a lot of fun together, they're also completely different people.
Chocho is an impulsive romantic, while Sarada is a logical person who makes her choices carefully. Sarada encourages Chocho to actually slow down and think things through, while Chocho helps Sarada let go and enjoy herself. Though they're very different, they both make each other better.
