Find The Best Mexican Food Spot
From Redditor u/pecoto:
Ask some locals about the best "hole in the wall" Mexican food restaurant in the area, visit it, and prepare to have your MIND BLOWN. Seriously, California has some of the best Mexican food in the world, because it's right out of Mexico.

Spend Some Time On the Water
From Redditor u/buttrumpus:
My #1 recommendation is to get on a sailboat and spend some time on the water. There’s a reason the San Diego Yacht Club is in the top three for America’s Cup wins. No better way to see the city.

Go Wine Tasting In Napa
From Redditor u/Boomeowww:
Go wine tasting and out to eat in Napa. Go out to [San Francisco]; there's a ton of food to choose from. Go see the redwoods near Big Sur or even better, up north. You can also go to Muir Woods, which are beautiful redwoods in Marin area which is just north of SF. Yosemite. And if you wanna see the desert I loved Death Valley.

Visit The Happiest City In America
From Redditor u/deku12345:
If you're going from San Francisco to LA, about halfway through is a little college town called San Luis Obispo. It was voted the happiest city in America and third happiest in the world. It has fantastic food, great hikes, a beautiful, active downtown, and is really close to the beach. It has a really fun nightlife as well.

See The Sights In Yosemite
From Redditor u/oredumperror:
GO TO YOSEMITE! That National Park is the most gorgeous place I've ever been in my entire life. Half Dome is incredible, and the Tuolumne Valley is utterly gorgeous. If you don't have time for more, just drive through it during the day. You will not be disappointed!
Also, shout out to Six Flags Magic Mountain. If you like roller coasters, there are very few places in the world on par with Magic Mountain.

Kayak In La Jolla
From Redditor u/mwhite1249:
There was lots of street stuff in Ocean Beach when I lived there. Also, Bates Nut Farm is a nice excursion, especially in the fall when they do a corn maze and have pumpkins. Kayak in La Jolla; there are rents, caves to explore, and a breakwater so you're not getting smashed with waves. There's also an active archery club that maintains a nice 50+ target walking range in Balboa Park, a hidden wonder because most people don't even know it's there.
