CIRCA 1900's, WONDERFUL EDWARDIAN ERA TAMBOUR LACE CURTAINS

CIRCA 1900's, WONDERFUL EDWARDIAN ERA  TAMBOUR LACE CURTAINS. It is always quite rare to fine early curtains in good condition. I have two pairs of these Tambour curtains, we can sell each pair or if desired we can sell both sets. The design is quite ornate and yet elegant. Measuring approx.112-114 by 42" wide for each panel, the other pair measures approx.100-111 by 42" for each panel. These were never used and so never turned over at the top which means one can turn over at desired length for windows. In very good unused condition, a few openings from storage ,minor.. these are good strong curtains and are quite lovely hung up. The have  wonderful ethereal quality to them and are enhanced by the ornate embroidery.

CIRCA 1889, RARE PARIS EXHIBITION FILET LACE CLOTH W/MUSIC,POETRY DESIGNS

CIRCA 1889, RARE PARIS EXHIBITION FILET LACE CLOTH W/MUSIC,POETRY DESIGNS. A rare  Filet lace panel,  tablecloth or bedspread that was specially made for the World's Fair Exposition in Paris in 1889.The Eiffel tower was created especially for this Exposition and it has been said that over thirty-two million people attended the fair, including famous luminaries like Thomas Edison, The Shah of Persia and others. The main theme of the exposition was to celebrate the overthrow of the French Monarchy. The panel is ornate and quite fabulous , the central theme is "La Science Et La Travail" which means the Science of Work. There is a large central vignette with classical dressed ladies underneath the title. The largest female seems to hold a torch? perhaps in a sign of the times. The worlds fair celebrated the centennial of the Fresh revolution.  So the theme was freedom, enlightenment ,work etc.The fine arts are depicted in each corner,Poetry, Music, Painting and Sculpture. The panel measures approx. 80" by 80" and probably would have been used as a back drop to a lace stand. The designs are grand and are large scaled with images of ladies in classical dress, children, cherubs, musical instruments etc.A Belle Epoque design of scrolling vines and florals with flower swags. The lace seems unused and was probably used in the Fair as a wall hanging. One could use as curtain, panel or bedspread if desired.

CIRCA 1900, LOVELY TRANSLUCENT "ART NOVEAU" ERA TAMBOUR LACE CURTAINS

CIRCA 1900, LOVELY TRANSLUCENT TAMBOUR LACE CURTAINS. Lovely 'Art Nouveau" era pair of curtains measuring approx. almost 90" by 24" wide with 2" turnover for each panel. The design is very unusual with meandering vines and flowers that seem like lilies. This is the first time I have come across a design like this, it seems similar to designs done during the Art Nouveau period. In very good strong condition, a couple minor tiny openings.Personally I think they were just stored in trunk for many years and perhaps were never used. We laundered these to make sure they came up strong and in good condition. This listing is for one pair, we also have another matching pair in good condition. It is very rare to find unusual curtains like this in such good condition.

CIRCA 1880-1900, ORNATE TAMBOUR LACE CURTAINS W/TRELLIS DESIGN,ROSES

CIRCA 1880-1900,ORNATE TAMBOUR LACE CURTAINS W/TRELLIS DESIGN,ROSES. A wonderful pair of curtains with a lovely trellis design and lovely raised padded florals and leaves.  These seem unused and are in very good strong condition, perhaps a couple of tiny openings, as said , they seem unused. One panel measures approx.96 by 55", the other panel 96-97 by 56-58 inches. One outer edge was cut or not finished, the other has the scalloped edge. This is not the front part of curtains but the outer part so not a problem, just turn over and use as the most important part of the curtains are at the front. the tops have never been turned over which make me think these were never used.A beautiful design on these.,even more beautiful than pictures. It is rare to find curtains that are in such good strong condition.
