CIRCA 1890-1900,SUPERB HAND EMBROIDERED CANTON SILK SHAWL W/HEIRLOOM ROSES. A dazzling hand embroidered Canton silk shawl measuring approx. 64-65" with an additional measurement for the Macrame fringe that is approx. 23-24",  in centimeters approx. 165.1cm with an additional 60.96cm for fringe. The design is quite beautiful with large ornate heirloom roses surrounded by a lovely array of other florals and with meandering vines and flowers throughout the shawl. The polychrome colors are bright and bold and the design is abundant. The Macrame heading also has a unusual design and is very well done. This shawl has  good weight to it, always a sign of the best of shawls made during that period..There is one small 1-2" seam or mend near the bottom of shawl.It is totally minor .The shawl has been packed away for many years and  seems as if it was rarely used. The silk is strong and in very good condition. It has been 45 years now that I have sold these beautiful Canton shawls... this is a very good one!

CIRCA 1890-1900,EXQUISITE HAND EMBROIDERED CANTON SHAWL W/BIRDS. One of the most amazing shawls I have ever been fortunate to offer! In many many years and thousands of shawls, this beauty stands out well above the rest. First, the hand embroidery is absolutely superb and as for the design.. well this was designed by quite a wonderful artist . There are probably more than two hundred birds, there are Birds of Paradise, Love birds,Flamingos,Swallows, Cranes, Peacocks, Owls,Ducks, Partridges  to name just a few.The Swallows soar in the design amidst the meandering floral vines.There are roses and nests of baby birds, owls sitting on branches while below Ducks and other birds take to the water. There is a outer garland of clouds and birds and finally a lovely fine Macrame edging. Measuring approx.52" with an addition very long hand made 22" Macrame fringe. This shawl is in wonderful condition, seems rarely used or unused. The fine  silk has a good weight and is a lovely item to wear or to use in home decoration.One of the best shawls in design and workmanship, well worthy of a serious collection.

CIRCA 1880-1900, LUMINOUS CREAM SILK CANTON SHAWL W/ROSES. A wonderful luminous cream Canton hand membroidered shawl with a double Macrame fringe measuring approx. 65" with an additional 15-16" for the double fringe edging. This is one of the better Canton shawls that became popular during the 1900's. The shawl has a good weight and the hand embroidery is exceptional and whole shawl is almost entirely covered with large heirloom cabbage roses, florals , and lovely elongated branches and leaves. The quality of embroidery is exceptional! The cream silk has the most beautiful sheen and as said has such a luminous quality to it. In very good strong condition, a couple of minor spots that have no significance.This shawl might well have been unused or used very rarely. It is in great condition.

CIRCA 1920-30's,RARE SILK SHAWL W/FIGURES,PAGODAS,LANDSCAPED GARDENS. Quite an unusual shawl! There is a central large dragon at the center with numerous people all around the shawl. Some are playing games, some study scrolls, and there are musicians playing instruments. There are numerous scenes , beautiful landscaped gardens, pagodas, bridges and architectural structures throughout the shawl.My favorite scenes are the wild untamed mountainous landscapes and rock formations. The colors are gentle and the designs are quite wonderful. Measuring approx. 52-54" with a wide Macrame fringe measuring approx.17". In very good condition, . The shawl seems rarely used.

CIRCA 1920, BEAUTIFUL ASSUIT, "TULLE BI TELLI " SHAWL W/FIGURALS. A impressive large Asset shawl measuring approx.83" long by approx. 43-44" wide.A heavy shawl with a lovely design of central large geometrics in the cents and then very elaborate wide borders containing figures and houses. The shawl came from a good estate, and seems hardly worn, there are threes small openings and a very small bit of tarnish..I consider minor as the shawl is in overall very good condition . The edges sometimes had a little more net and hammered silver added at the bottom . A lovely shawl!

CIRCA 1880-1900, MAGNIFICENT CANTON SILK EMBROIDERED SHAWL. This Canton silk shawl is truly a work of art! Circa 1880-1900, shawls like this were hand embroidered in Canton for the European market and were acquired by society ladies who travelled abroad for their Grand Tour.  They were used originally as piano shawls or decorative throws but also were worn. In Spain where there is such a tradition of wonderful festivals, the women are quite glorious wearing their shawls and it is quite a sight to behold. I have sold thousands of Canton shawls in the last forty odd years, but when one sees a shawl like this , one understands it is not only the design but the workmanship.. and in this , this shawl excels.It is not possible to praise it enough!The polychrome silk threads glisten against the silk and there is perfection in the embroidery. The leaves, the flowers basically sing out in joy.  There are assorted beautiful flowers with amazing detailed work and elegant shaded leaves and vines trail off throughout the shawl. Measuring approx. 65", 165cm with additional silk fringe almost 10",25cm.The shawl has a few tiny wear areas near edge fringe,and a couple of small spots also on the edge, absolutely minor in relation to the very good strong condition, this shawl appears as if it was never used and is in beautiful condition. The person who has been a collector of these shawls will know that this is the very best of the Canton shawls  and so ideal for the serious collector or for a museum.

CIRCA 1890-1900, MAGNIFICENT SILK CANTON EMBROIDERED SHAWL. I think this is one of the most beautiful shawls I have come across. The cream silk thread  used is luminous!! Circa 1890-1900, this hand embroidered shawl has everything, perfect workmanship and a truly wonderful design. The blue-turquoise silk is superb and the combination of the hand embroidery with the finest cream silk thread is quite wonderful.The scale of the large heirloom cabbage roses at the center of the shawl, the elegant floral swags around the edges and the deep glistening Macrame silk fringe all around the edges ,all this is perfection. Measuring approx.64-65" with additional 27-28" for Macrame fringe. A few small minor spots,MINOR, this shawl was rarely used and is in very good strong condition.
