John 3:8 NIV The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit
With this illustration and study, I learned that Greek for "wind" and "spirit" are the same. When studying a verse or passage, checking various translations can be very helpful for me. The Douay-Rheims 1899 American Edition was very interesting.
John 3:8 DRA The Spirit breatheth where he will; and thou hearest his voice, but thou knowest not whence he cometh, and whither he goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

Today I'm using:
Dayspring Illustrating Bible
Leaves and pressed 4 Leaf Clovers
Pencil and Eraser
Children's Liquid Glue
Distressed Oxides in Blue, Green and Gold
Acrylic Paints
Small Paint Brush
Black 05 Micron Pen
Black Marker
I grabbed a few doo-dads that were blowing across my yard. Aren't they beautiful? I certainly could have just glued them down, put some weight on my Bible and left it closed until they were flat. That would have been gorgeous as well as simple. Here's what I did instead.
Washi tape was placed on my selected verse, and a couple of other spots that are to remain white.
I used Distressed Oxides in green, blue and gold to lay a soft background.
It was so difficult to choose which lovely leaves would actually be used on my page. I traced around them and began layering acrylic paint. Gentle reminder: If you don't like the paint color you chose, no worries, just wait for it to dry and paint over it with a color you do like.
Once I'm OK with the paint on my leaves, I heavily load a wet brush and spatter each color across my page. Flicking a drippy paint brush makes me surprisingly happy!
After doodling, children's liquid glue was used for the pressed four leaf clovers. Notice, I hid one of the acorns I didn't like!
Bible illustrating is so much fun! What are your favorite ways to study your Bible?
