Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Was Super Excited About But Still Haven't Read

Welcome to this week's edition of Top Ten Tuesday which is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week's theme is Books I Was Super Excited to Get My Hands on but Still Haven’t Read. And yes, I am sticking to the script this week. It isn't always the case

Daisy and Kate by Meredith Appleyard
- I first saw the cover for this at a reader retreat last year and wanted to read it straight away....but still haven't!

The Other Bridget by Rachael Johns - I bought this as soon as it came out in book form, as opposed to on Kindle, but still haven't read it.

The Missing Sister by Lucinda Riley - I listened to all the previous Seven Sisters books, but the idea of listening to a book 30 hours long is very intimidating right now as I don't get to listen that much anymore. And then I have the next book after that as well

Midnight Blue by Simone van der Vlugt - I had to have this book as soon as I saw it!

The Diamond Eye by Kate Quinn - What am I waiting for? Yeah, I don't know either

The Last Bookshop in London by Madeline Martin - I could also mention this author's subsequent books too.

Welcome to the Hyunam-Dong Bookshop by Hwang Bo-Reum - I have had this on my radar since last year.

The Starfish Sisters by Barbara O'Neal - I have quite a few unread books by this author

An Astronomer in Love by Antoine Laurain - Maybe I'll get to read this for Paris in July.

The Air Raid Book Club by Annie Lyons -  I like the sound of this author's upcoming book too.

Have you read any of these books?

Welcome to this week's edition of Top Ten Tuesday which is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week the themis Most Anticipated Books Releasing During the Second Half of 2023.  Normally I have to go looking for books for this prompt but there are so many good books coming out over the next few months!

Codenamed Charming by Lucy Parker - I read the first book in this series a couple of years ago and have been waiting for this ever since.

Daisy and Kate by Meredith Appleyard - This author was at the retreat I went to last month and the book sounds good. It doesn't hurt that the cover is gorgeous.

The Girl from Portofino by Siobhan Daiko - I read The Girl from Venice a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it so I am on the lookout for this one.

Top Ten Tuesday: Ten Books that were reviewed three times for the 2022 Historical Fiction Reading Challenge

Welcome to this week's edition of Top Ten Tuesday which is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week there is no set theme so I am going to focus on books that were reviewed three  times for the 2022 Historical Fiction reading challenge.

On Sunday I shared the statistics for the 2022 challenge and highlighted five books that were the most reviewed during the year. You can see that post here.

There were, however, 16 books that were reviewed three times each and these are the books that I am going to focus on today. The question was how to get from 16 to 10. I didn't quite manage it, but here are 10 11 books that were reviewed three times for the 2022 Historical Fiction Reading Challenge which also begin with the word "The".

The Belle of Belgrave Square by Mimi Matthews - This is the second book in the Belles of London series. The first book, The Sirens of Sussex was also reviewed 4 times.

The Brightest Star by Emma Harcourt - If you are looking for a change from WWII fiction, this book is set in Renaissance Italy.

The Christie Affair by Nina de Gramont - I wonder if we will ever know what happened to Agatha Christie when she disappeared for 11 days back in 1926.

The Dance Tree by Kiran Millwood Hargrave - This book is set in 1518 and talks about the strange phenomenon of dancing women.

The Diamond Eye by Kate Quinn - It's not really a surprise to see Kate Quinn at the top of the list of books reviewed.

The Fugitive Colours by Nancy Bilyeau - This is the second book in Genevieve Planche series, set in 1700s London.

The Kitchen Front by Jennifer Ryan - I am reading this one at the moment.

The Leviathan by Rosie Andrews - Set in 1600's England during the Civil War

The Man in the Bunker by Rory Clements - This is the 6th book in the Tom Wilde series of historical thrillers set in WWII

The Marriage Portrait by Maggie O'Farrell - Maggie O'Farrell turns her attention to medieval Italy

The Night Ship by Jess Kidd - This is the bonus book for this list. In theory, I am reading this at the moment.

It's not too late to sign up for this year's challenge. All the details can be found here. Whether you already love historical fiction or if you want to begin to explore the genre, you are most welcome to join us!

Sunday Salon: Historical Fiction Reading Challenge -August stats

This year as part of the Historical Fiction Reading Challenge I am intending to provide some stats after each month and then at the end of the year I will do an overall wrap up for the year. Today I am sharing a few stats about August.

During August there were 67 reviews shared by 25 participants. There were lots of people who shared multiple reviews, including 3 people who shared 5 or more reviews. Thank you to everyone who has shared! I think I have visited everyone this month, and there were some fascinating titles, and I added more than one book to my TBR list!

In terms of the books, there were 66 individual titles reviewed, written by 64 different authors.

There was only one book that was reviewed twice for the challenge. This was:

Lessons in Chemisry by Bonnie Garmus was reviewed both by Curly Geek from The Book Stop and Laura from Laura's Reviews.

There were two other authors who had two individual titles reviewed. Signal Moon and The Diamond Eye by Kate Quinn were both reviewed as were two books by Madeline Martin being The Last Bookshop in London and The Librarian Spy.

It's not too late to join the challenge this year. You can find all the sign up details here and if you have a link to add to the challenge the September Linky can be found here.

Six Degrees of Separation: The True History of the Kelly Gang to The Goldminer's Sister

Welcome to this month's edition of Six Degrees of Separation, which is a monthly meme hosted by Kate from Books Are My Favourite and Best.  The idea is to start with a specific book and make a series of links from one book to the next using whatever link you can find and see where you end up after six links.  I am also linking this post up with The Sunday Salon, hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz.

The starting point for this month is The True History of the Kelly Gang by Peter Carey

The Codebreakers by Alli Sinclair - My first choice based on a true story that didn't come to light until the early 2000s. This book tells the story of the women who worked out of a garage in suburban Brisbane breaking codes.

The Rose Code by Kate Quinn - Another book based on the hidden history of codebreakers, this time based in Bletchley Park in the UK.

The Diamond Eye by Kate Quinn - Myconnection is really that this another Kate Quinn novel, but it doesn't hurt that this book features  a femail pilot which links it back to The Codebreakers too.

Black Diamonds by Kim Kelly - Speaking of diamonds.....

The Diamond Hunter by Fiona McIntosh- and sticking with the diamond theme

The Goldminer's Sister by Alison Stuart - My final selection moves away from diamonds towards gold. Another name for someone who hunts for diamonds and gold is a miner.

So there we have six choices that  are all historical fiction which often gives us a fictionalised version of history.

The starting poing for next month is Sorrow and Bliss by Meg Mason.
