Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe Afternoon Tour

3 Days Solo Trip in Summer Zimbabwe - Zambia for Victoria Falls
December 26 to 28, 2018

Victoria Falls also known as "Mosi oa-Tunya" ("the smoke that thunders") is positioned almost exactly half way along the mighty Zambezi River's 2700 km journey from it's source to the sea. Here the river plunges headlong into a 100m vertical chasm spanning the full one-and-a-half kilometre width of the river. Creating the biggest curtain of falling water in the world and also one of the seven natural wonders of the world. Words cannot describe the awesome beauty and power of the Victoria Falls. David Livingstone in 1855 probably came the closest with “Scenes so wonderful must have been gazed upon by Angels in their flight”.

3 Days Solo Trip in Summer Zimbabwe - Zambia for Victoria Falls

Victoria Falls summer adventure in the Zimbabwe - Zambia border
December 26 to 28, 2018

My 70th solo backpacking trip, 11th and 12th country to visit in African continent89th and 90th country visited on my journey #lakbay100, 5th continent on my list and of course, usual budget do-it-yourself itinerary from arrival to departure. I did not research that much for this country due also on limited time and laziness.

Victoria Falls, named after Queen of Great Britain, presents a spectacular sight of awe-inspiring beauty and grandeur on the Zambezi River, forming the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe. It was described by the Kololo tribe living in the area in the 1800’s as ‘Mosi-oa-Tunya’ – ‘The Smoke that Thunders’. In more modern terms Victoria Falls is known as the greatest curtain of falling water in the world. Victoria Falls is the only waterfall in the world with a length of more than a kilometer and a height of more than hundred meters. It is also considered to be the largest fall in the world. The noise of Victoria Falls can be heard from a distance of 40 kms, while the spray and mist from the falling water is rising to a height of over 400 meters. No wonder that the local tribes used to call the waterfall Mosi-o-Tunya “The smoke that thunders”.

Iskanderkul Hike to Waterfalls

5 Days Solo Trip in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan
April 20 to 25, 2018

Hissar Fortress Morning Tour

I just decided the night after my 1st day tour to again avail a private tour, now going to the most beautiful mountain lake in Fan Mountain. I contracted the contacted driver by the hostel (who can speak a little english only but very nice) for a day tour negotiated down to $100. We left the Hostel around 0900H arrived in Iskanderskul at 1200H. We trekked 3km trail to falls then had a lunch beside the lake. We left Iskanderkul at 1400H and arrived back to Hostel at 1700H.  Iskanderkul is a Tajikistan mountain lake named after Alexander the Great who passed by here en route to India from Turkey.

Solo Trekking and Hitch-hike to Ala Archa Waterfalls (Ak Sai)

5 Days Solo Trip in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan
April 20 to 25, 2018

Bishkek City Walk Tour

The real deal of experiencing Central Asia adventure is to sight-see and feel the glaciers of mountain ranges. For now, day-hike only to have that experience and by the way, I'm above the chased waterfall at 2,665masl covered by very thick ice in spring season. Self-guided solo budget day hike to Ala Archa Waterfalls (2,665masl). 5 hours steep, slippery, muddy and icy trekking with more than 500m elevation gain on an 8km trail. Countless slippage throughout the trail using this light-trekking type shoes with soaked socks penetrated by mud and ice. I underestimated the Kyrgyzs mountain in spring season (aside from wearing light sweater, long sleeve dry fit shirt and ordinary pants).

My 19th family outing initiated and of course, usual budget do-it-yourself itinerary from arrival to departure. This trip also served as my 2nd tour-visit in Pangasinan, the first one was also a budget day-trip but with new-found friends in Hundred Islands, Alaminos (Jun. 2010)Please take note I did not perform any advance booking, we just simply arrived there as this day was considered as off-peak (weekday and start of rainy season). Calayan Island's Pristine Cove, Hill and Waterfalls

7 Days Budget DIY Trip to Babuyan Group of Islands
May 11 to 19, 2016

Calayan Island is the largest of the Babuyan Islands (Calayan, Camiguin, Dalupiri and Babuyan Island) of Calayan Municipality where the municipal hall is located. On this island, there is no ATM (bring cash), no GLOBE signal (use only SMART and SUN sim card) and no Wifi (only in Municipal Mayor's office). No electricity from 12am to 12pm daily. Convenience stores usually closed 7pm to 8pm. Sunrise occurs in Nagudungan Hills.

How to Go to Calayan Island;
There are daily departures at 0600H only from Aparri and irregular schedule from Claveria. One-way fare costs PhP500 for a 5hr boat ride.

The highlight or best scenic spot of unspoiled Calayan Island is the Sibang Cove and Nagudungan Hill. This cove and hill is located next to each other at around 5km east of the centertown. Sibang Cove is a pristine fine white sand beach just like the Mahabang Buhangin Beach of Calaguas Island. Nagudungan Hill has a lighthouse near to cliffs with lots of awesome rock formation due to strong winds and ocean waves faced regularly. What we did on our first day was we walked our way to this places routing the main road and guided by asking the locals.

The Viewing Deck Collections; Majestic Waterfalls

A waterfall is a place where flowing water rapidly drops in elevation as it flows over a steep region or a cliff. Waterfalls are commonly formed when a river is young. At these times the channel is often narrow and deep. When the river courses over resistant bedrock, erosion happens slowly, while downstream the erosion occurs more rapidly. As the watercourse increases its velocity at the edge of the waterfall, it plucks material from the riverbed.

Surigao del Norte's Some Nature Landmarks

solo exploring of eastern mindanao in 4-days
saturday to thursday august 04-09, 2012

The last day of my 4-day provincial trailing in this part of the Philippines. I took the 1000H schedule of ferry bound to surigao city, around 1300H was my ETA. Afterwards I rode a multicab bound to downtown, asked the locals then proceed to the game plan for the day

Lumondo Waterfalls and eco-park
an almost forgotten nature wonder. It because when I arrived there, the trail going down is very savage. It has been neglected due to the roads en route is very very rocky. How did I go? from surigao downtown, I rode a multicab bound to alegria then asked the driver to drop-off to alegria bus stop. Good thing there is a signboard that tells where this waterfalls goes when I arrived in alegria. Then I rented a habal-habal for only 60 pesos roundtrip.
