This thumbnail specimen displays an area of brown, transparent, granular burbankite crystals on a white host rock. The burbankite crystals are tiny, rounded and distinct (averaging perhaps ½mm long), and have a vitreous luster. There are no prismatic crystals whose form can be studied, yet it is clearly crystalline. The color reminds me of some golden topaz crystals. The host matrix consists of a white granular mineral, and my loupe reveals that the crystals are colorless and transparent, with a rough fracture, and some clean surfaces showing grown patterns, but no good crystals to examine. I suspect that it is diopside.
