A Mo Manning Thank You Card

Wow! Can you guys believe that Christmas is less than a month away??? I sure can't!! I'm nowhere near ready for it and still have some cards and gifts to make. I don't know how in the world I'll get them all finished in time. I guess I'll just put one foot in front of the other and hope that I get there before time runs out.

Today, I have a card that I made for my daughter-in-law last week. She has been such a sweetheart since I moved down here and has gone out of her way to help not only with the move but also by lending a hand whenever I have needed it. So I wanted to tell her in my own way how much I love her and appreciate everything she does for everybody, myself included.

I used this sweet image by Mo Manning, called Alisa with Roses. I have made a couple of cards with this one before but I think this one is my favorite of the three. I just think this is the sweetest little girl and makes into such a soft and feminine card.

Here's the inside of the card.

The photo above shows the box/envelope I made to go with the card. I had to improvise a bit because the card is a bit large and quite dimensional with all the flowers on it and I had no cardstock larger than 12"x12" on hand. It turned out quite well though, I think.

Supplies used:

Image - Alisa with Roses by Mo Manning
Copic markers
Sentiment stamp - Studio G (front); TPC Studio (inside)
Martha Stewart Punch Around the Page punch set - Deco Fan
Butterflies - (gold glitter) Martha Stewart Classic Butterfly; (pink) Memory Box Kaleidoscope Butterfly
Evergreen branches - Martha Stewart branch punch
Corner Punch - Manufacturer unknown
Cardstock from the DCWV Modern Bouquet stack for the envelope
White Cardstock - Coordinations
Branch and leaves diecuts - Sizzix
Flowers - I Am Roses
Quick Quotes Powderpuff Chalk Ink - Pink Cheeks
Pink rhinestone flourish - Prima Say It With Crystals
Pearls - Studio G
Adhesives - Scotch ATG, Aleene's Fast Grab Tacky Glue
Metallic Gold ink - Gelly Roll gel pen
White faux stiches - Gelly Roll gel pen
Foam mounting tape - Front Porch Treasures
Scissors
Paper, dark pink flower buds and ribbon from my stash

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

TBD

This card is a little more frilly than the ones I normally make but I really love this style and will probably make a few more. They allow me to embellish to my heart's content! LOL I hope you enjoyed seeing it.  I'll be back with a new project for WOW! Embossing Powders on Friday and if time permits, I might even have another card for you before then. Thanks for stopping in, have a wonderful week and until next time...

Happy crafting!

Paper a la Mode Challenge at The Outlawz

Paper a la Mode Challenge

Another week has come and gone and it's time for a new Paper a la Mode challenge at The Outlawz!  This week, our sweet, talented Jane has given us our challenge to create a project using the following photo for inspiration.

We could have used the color palette, the layout or any number of other elements on which to base our own designs.  I used the basic layout, minus the text as my inspiration.  I really wanted to use the color scheme,  as I thought it both interesting and vibrant, but I didn't have the right shades that would work together in my stash and I didn't feel like going shopping for a couple of pieces of scrapbook paper.  As you'll see in just a moment, my interpretation is not very strict.  I chose to play up the cross shape created by the intersections of the different papers and the ribbon I used, and a beautiful angel by an illustrator who goes by the name ina jane, that I colored with a combination of Copics and Primsacolor pencils.

This is the inside of the card. Oopsie! I didn't notice it until I downloaded the photos from my camera to my hard drive but the larger butterfly had come loose and fallen down just before I shot the picture.  It is permanently glued in place now so if I have time to do a retake, I'll post a newer pic this weekend.

Materials and Supplies:

card base and cream cardstock from Core'dinations
Gold foil cardstock from American Crafts
dp from DCWV's Tradewinds stack
image from Sweet Coloring pages
ribbon - royal blie grosgrain from Michael's
Sentiment label - Spellbinders Shapeabilities Fancy Tags
blue dew drops - sent to me by Kim at JustWordz Clear Stamps
corner punch - Martha Stewart Punc Around the Page set
front stamp - Fiskars clear stamp set called Squarely Sentimental
Inside sentiment stamp - Stampabilities
Dark blue chalk ink pad - Studio G
butterfly dimensional chipboard stickers - K & Company
Metallic gold gel pen

It's time again for the Saturday Paper a la Mode Challenge at The Outlawz

Saturday again already! The time is just flying by despite the fact that I can't do anything outdoors due to the heat wave we're having.  I know, I complain a lot about that, don't I? Well, I can't help it. This heat is worse to me than if it rained all the time. Okay, I'm done whining for today. Now it's time to show you a couple of little projects I completed for The Outlawz Paper a la Mode challenge. In case you haven't ever visited that challenge site, there is a different challenge each day of the week and the design team is divided among those 7 challenges. I'm on the Paper a la Mode team and our challenges run from Saturday through the following Friday. We have some absolutely wonderful regular sponsors, among which is Oozak. I won a $50 gift certificate for Oozak when I first joined The Outlawz! I was so thrilled to be able to do some online shopping for free and you'll never guess what I bought with it.... if you said Copics, you were correct! There are prizes for each challenge and a grand prize winner for the whole month. We also have a gallery where members can enter photos of their projects and from those photos, several entries are chosen to be featured each month. It's an awesome site and I'm so honored to be on their design team.

The theme for this week's Paper a la Mode challenge is gift bags, tags, boxes and gift card holders. I had a really hard time deciding what I wanted to make so I made 2 projects. The first one is a gift card holder.
I scrap-lifted the design from a StampTV video on You Tube. You can see the video here. It's an excellent step-by-step tutorial presented by Gina K and I just love the way mine turned out. I'll be making lots more of these in the future.

I just love the way it turned out.  Here are the details:

Card base - Best Occasions textured cardstock in royal blue
Mats - DCWV Shimmer card stock in bright gold
DP - DCWV Royal Garden (6.4"x4.5" mat stack)
Mat for message spot - DCWV Glitter cardstock in turquoise
White cardstock for message spot - Recollections
Page Pebble on belly band - MakingMemories (extra large circle)
1" circle punch
Martha Stewart corner punch from one of her Punch Around the Page sets
Super strong double sided adhesive tape

My second project is a little gift box set.  Each box is 2" square and is made of double-sided cardstock.  I made a double gift tag to attach to the ribbon from the same cardstock.  These are a cute size to hold some small sweet treats or little small gifts like bracelets, earrings, etc.

I'm afraid these pictures don't do it justice as they're prettier in person but at least they give you an idea.
And the recipe:

Double-sided patterned cardstock - Stampin' Up! 6" square Designer Series "In Color" stack
Ribbon - purchased from Michael's
Martha Stewart small butterfly punch
tiny pearls for butterfly thorax - Recollections and colored orange with Copic marker
Aleene's Fast Grab Tacky Glue to adhere the folded corners of the boxes

There ya go!  Two projects in one day.  I had a lot of fun making these and I hope they inspire you to make some of your own gift packaging.  I can picture lots of variations on these designs in my mind.  It's all in the papers and colors you choose.  I'll be posting a mini album on Monday and it's one I think you'll really enjoy so I hope you'll stop by again to see it.  Until then...

Happy crafting!
