Love and Laughter...

TGIF!

So I'm a couple days late, but I was inspired by this super cute Aihan image from Sister Stamps to create a card for the Chinese new year. I got her from Hanko Designs awhile back when she released and her joy filled pose seemed pretty perfect for a celebratory card like this. I paired Aihan with the lanterns from the Miyono set and when I colored them I added a subtle snake pattern to the round lanterns in honor of it being the year of the snake. Fun fact... I myself, was born in the year of the snake so this one feels kinda special, LOL! The sentiment is from a retired Hello Bluebird set and I stamped it in red ink to match back to Aihan's cute outfit. I also used a gold gel pen to squiggle on some abstract embroidery to her top to fancy it up just a bit. Well, let's hope that this new year is a good one.  ;)

Ssssssee ya later!

Happy bird...

Hey there!

So I just got my order of new Sister Stamps images from Hanko Designs yesterday and I could not stop myself from inking one of them up for a card to share today. This joy filled little Jumping Girl was really speaking to me so I inked her up along with the little birds that are also part of the set, using Memento rich cocoa ink. I even added a third bird using a mirror stamp so it would be facing the opposite direction. I then proceeded to color in a pretty cherry tree in full bloom to set the scene on the small die cut panel that I had them on. Before adding the colored panel to my card front I used the Petal Play Background stamp from Hello Bluebird to add a tone on tone print to the base. I love how it jazzes the whole thing up but in a very subtle way. Now I can't wait to stamp up the rest of the sets from my order!  :)

Laters!

You make my heart blossom...

Hello, hello!

I was so excited to read the news on Facebook that Sister Stamps is making a comeback to our crafty community after a long absence. I've been a big fan of their adorable images since the beginning and it's so great seeing new designs being offered. All ten stamp sets are currently up for pre-order both at Impronte d'Autore and Hanko Designs, so depending on where in the world you are you've got shopping options. Well, all of this happy news had me reaching for my binder of the original red rubber Sister Stamps and ink up little Kiyomi here. I looked it up on my blog archive and it was September of 2011 when I last created a card with her and it was a sepia toned Fall card. This time around I went with fresh Spring colors and a scene where the cherry blossoms are in full bloom. It feels so good revisiting the older stamps in my craft stash and hopefully I can continue doing these deep dives throughout the rest of the year.  :)

Toodles!

Warm wishes...

Good morning!

I got another card done for my cousin to send out this Christmas. For this one I inked up sweet Yuki from Sister Stamps as well as the fireplace from Impronte d'Autore. Originally the fireplace has Santa popping out of it but I wiped him away before stamping so that Yuki was the star of the show. I love the story that these stamps tell together, you can just feel the magic of Christmas morning as she hugs that fun filled stocking tight. It was great to revisit these retired Sister Stamps images and hopefully that won't have to wait as long before getting on Christmas cards again in the future. :)

A merry little Christmas...

Hey there crafty peeps!

I'm checking another card off my cousin's order with this one. Two down, two to go. For this one I inked up happy little Setsuna from Sister Stamps and paired him with a Christmas tree from Impronte d'Autore. I'm 99% sure that they are drawn by the same artist so they really look great together. In keeping with my one layer rule for these cards I colored in a wood floor and wall behind them to pull the simple scene all together. I also made sure to leave a lot of open space up above because I really wanted to use this cool sentiment with Setsuna. To finish it all off I added plenty of sparkle and gloss to the ornaments decorating the tree.

Alrighty then, catch ya later! :)

Supply list:
cardstock- Papertrey Ink and Bazzill

Season's Greetings...

Good morning!

This weekend I had a request from my cousin, Michael, for some Christmas cards that he could send to the parents of his exchange student friends who are staying with him. They are from Japan and right away I thought of my Sister Stamps stash. The way we stampers tend to accumulate new stamps it is easy to always be using the new, new, new! I know I fall into that all the time, so it makes it even sweeter when I revisit old favorites. This fun stamp is called Shimo San and in order to keep the card nice and flat for mailing I decided to go ahead and color in a winter background for them to inhabit. I also just got my hands on some Curious Metallics Cryogen White cardstock to see what it was like to color on and I gotta say, I LOVE it! The Copic ink goes on so smooth, blending beautifully and the cardstock has a subtle iridescent shimmer to it that makes the finished card positively sparkle and shine. I wish the photo captured the magic of this cardstock because it is so pretty in person. Well I hope Michael likes this card as much as I do because I had a blast coloring up these winter kiddos once again.

Later gators! :)

What's new pussycat...

Hi guys!

Hi had another super busy day at work yesterday and there wasn't a lot of time to wind down in the crafty room once I got home. What's a girl to do? I searched around my desk until I found this little kitty from Sister Stamps, called Otsu, all colored up and fussy cut ta boot. I had done all that work back in October for a Halloween card but it didn't come together back then. Now originally this sweet kitty is meant to be on its back and you can add a ball of yarn, present, etc to his paws but I thought it would be cute to flip him around and have him peeking through a window, like we've caught him contemplating how to get that fish out of the bowl. That mischievous look is all too familiar around my house, LOL! Anywho, it was fun putting this quick card together even if I didn't spend a lot of time on it. :)

Catch ya on the flip side!

Eat, drink and be merry...

TGIF my friends!

It's Christmas Eve, Eve and there are only two more sleeps until the big day. I've got to work again today but I hope to get home in the early afternoon so I can start making some Christmas cookies to give out on Saturday. There is still so much to do and so little time... yikes!
In fact yesterday was another busy day and once again I wasn't left with a lot of time in the crafty room. I figured this would be the perfect time to get the December cupcake from the Baker's Dozen set onto a card. It's another one that I colored up back in the fall so that saved some time. But I really wanted to pair this one up with a character stamp and since I love this sweet mouse from Sister Stamps he seemed a great choice. By masking the cupcake I could tuck him in nice and close then I did a tiny alteration by drawing in a tongue so it looks like he is licking the cream cheese frosting off that red velvet cupcake. To save more time I even used the same MFT sketch as yesterday's card, that has been very handy indeed! :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Easter's on its way...

Good morning!

Umm... can I just say that I'm not a fan of Easter landing in March like it is this year. Seriously, I can't believe it is already this weekend! I haven't made many Easter cards this year so I wanted to make sure I at least got a couple in before the big day. For today's card I inked up Peeker Pixie from Sister Stamps because I just adore this sweet bunny. I paired her up with a panel from the new Doodlebug Bunnyville papers which makes for a quick and easy, but still super cute, card. Sadly when I was linking Pixie up for this post I read the sad news that Sister Stamps has closed down as of the end of 2015. I will really miss their wonderful stamps, especially since I was so hopeful for some kitty peekers.  :(
I guess I will just have to be happy with the lovely collection of Sister Stamps that I already have. Thank you Sister Stamps... you will be missed so much!

 Toodles!

Wag more...

Hey there!

I had a busy day at work yesterday which didn't leave me with a lot of crafty time once I got home. Still, I needed to unwind a bit with something quick and easy. So I grabbed one of the fun peeker pups, Peanut, from Sister Stamps and started coloring. I am such a fan of all the Sister Stamps critters, I just love how much personality each one has. I paired Peanut up with some dog themed Snap Pack papers and decided that the card needed something else for that perfect finishing touch. That's when I spotted the Lucky Dogs set from The Greeting Farm sitting on my desk. The bone, ball and bowl all came from it and now I think it looks like we've caught Peanut mid romp amongst all his favorite possessions. :)

Later gators!

Warm thoughts...

Hi there!

When it came time to get crafty yesterday I was in a bit of a time crunch so I needed something super quick to color. That is when I remembered that I had this pair of bear cubs from Sister Stamps already inked up and ready to go. Don't Boo Boo and Bobo make for a super cute duo of polar bear cubs? I love how mischievous they both look peeking out from behind that sentiment block. I can just imagine them romping away through the powdery snow after getting a look at what was going on. And I can hardly believe that I only pulled five Copics to get these two colored up... talk about speed coloring, LOL! The papers are a mix of scraps that I found in my stash and I think the monochromatic look really sets the scene here.

Well, here's hoping that today isn't quite as busy as yesterday was.
Later gators!  :)

Happy Halloween...

Hi-dee-ho!

It sure is looking like this week is shaping up to be all about the kitties... LOL! Sister Stamps just had a new release at the beginning of the month and it is all about these super cute Peeker Pet stamps. There are bears, bunnies and puppies all of which are super adorable but I gotta admit that I was a bit bummed there where no peeker kitties in this release. Not just because I love my kitties but more so because they would be perfect for the Halloween cards that I am making right now. Once I got my order though and started stamping them up my altering inclinations could not be ignored. So I grabbed the two bunnies, Pixie and Dixie, wiped away the ears on both and Pixie's right paw before stamping. Then I drew in pointy kitty ears and a new leg that went to the ground as well as a tail for Pixie. Now those bunnies have been transformed into two black kitties ready to get into some serious mischief. :)

Okey dokie, time for me to scoot. Have a great day my friends!   :)

Hugs and kisses...

Hey there!

Oy, you are not going to believe the weekend I've had! Remember when I said on Friday that I hoped the storms didn't cause anymore problems? Well I totally jinxed us because early Friday morning about fifty lightening strikes started more fires and these ones where super close to home. By Friday afternoon homes where being evacuated in Chelan as well as the state park and we all lost power and cell phone service. Roads were closed off and on making us feel very isolated. Helicopters and big bomber planes were flown in to drop fire retardant and scoop water out of the lake to fight the blaze. My home wasn't in danger like so many others but the experience was still quite nerve wracking. We were without power until early Sunday morning and the phones finally came back by Sunday afternoon. I didn't get internet back until yesterday, thus my absence here on the blog. Thankfully, none of my extended family who live here in the Chelan valley actually lost their homes though there were a couple close calls. Sadly not everyone in the community where as lucky, last I heard about 21 homes and 100 structures total are gone. As the fires continue to burn the fire fighters and national guard continue to work tirelessly and I am so grateful to the brave men and women who have come to save our town.

I spent some of those powerless day light hours coloring and this fun little Hiilei image from Sister Stamps was one of the stamps that I worked on as well as another cute turtle from the Turtle set. When I went to put them on a card I thought that it kinda looked like he is giving Hiilei a kiss on the cheek which inspired the hugs and kisses sentiment. I gotta say that this card reflects my current desire for some cool, clean water to just wash all this fire and smoke away. ;)

Well, take care everyone... barring any new unforeseen circumstances popping up I will be back with another card tomorrow.
Hugs! :)

A lovely hello...

Hey there!

I'm back today with the second new digi merbean from The Greeting Farm. Her name is Coralina and she has got such a fun attitude about her, must be that cheeky little wink she is throwing our way. I went with a different color combo compared to my earlier merbean card this week, Coralina being very cool with the purples and dark blue plus I thought it would be fun to try a silver looking fin. I paired her up with this funky print by Heidi Grace because I liked how the circles kinda looked like the tops of jellyfish. As I was putting the card together I realized that Coralina needed someone to be waving hello to and I immediately thought of this cute puffer fish from the Sister Stamps Octopus set. One problem though... he was facing the wrong direction. What to do? Well, I stamped him up, flipped the cardstock over onto my light box and then proceeded to trace the image right there on the back of the cardstock. It was super easy and just like that my puffer fish pal was looking right at Coralina. Success!  ;)

Ta Ta for now!

Floating by...

Hey, hey, hey!

It's another bright, sunshiny day so I thought I would share another bright, sunshiny card with you all.  :)

This is one of the new stamps from the Sister Stamps summer release called, Kyana. I was lucky enough to win this cutie during the sneak peeks and I couldn't wait to get her on a card. She totally reminds me of my own childhood days spent at my grandparents pool, we always had these great animal blow up toys to ride around in. Awww... good times.  ;)
Anywho, I couldn't find any water looking paper that I loved so I pulled out the watercolor paper and a whole slew of blue Distress Inks to create my own background for Kyana to float in. Once that was dry I used some old Doodlebug alpha rub ons to create my own sentiment since I didn't have a stamp that said what I wanted. A small sprinkling of enamel dots and a googly eye on her floaty and I had a summer fun card all ready to go.

Later gators!

Oh, my stars...

Good morning!

Look who showed up in my mailbox yesterday... Starfish Anya. Obviously I couldn't wait to ink her up and get her on a card, LOL! She was just begging for an entire scene to be a part of so I also grabbed my new sand castle stamp from Sister Stamps and gave Anya something to work on. I even added one of her starfish to the top of the castle to make it look like Anya is decorating it with her seashore finds. Next I added some clouds in the sky and a bucket of sand to complete this idyllic scene. I gotta say, this was a fun card to put together. :)

Awesome...

Hello again!

Sister Stamps had a big new release this month, full of super adorable beach kiddos. If you haven't checked them out yet I highly recommend that you do... cute, cute, cute! I was lucky enough to win one of the new stamps during previews and as soon as the rest were available I placed my order so that she wouldn't get lonely, LOL! And guess what arrived in the mail yesterday... yep, there wasn't a chance that I wouldn't be inking them up almost as soon as I got them out of the package.  ;)

So my card for today features the underwater adventurer, Makai, and I was inspired by Jenny and her fab design team to pair him up with some critters from the previously released Octopus set. The sizing between the stamps is perfect. The papers are Bella Blvd's Camp Out collection, which I know I used recently with a mermaid but it was too great a background to pass up. And the sentiment was a no-brainer because how awesome would it be to glide through the sea, hand in tentacle, with a round little octopus?! The yellow cardstock that the 'awesome' is cut out of looks off in this pic, in person it is a close match to the little yellow fish in the print. I suspect that the shimmery sheen it is coated with reflected too much light when I took the photo, but you'll just have to take my word for that.

Alrighty time for me to mosey... TTYL!  :)

Supply list:
cardstock- Bazzill and Copic X-Press It

You're special...

Hello, hello again!

It's another beautiful June day and I've got yet another mermaid card to share. Today's card features Aurora from Sister Stamps, whom I just adore, as well as a friendly turtle pal also from Sister Stamps.  I am such a fan of these stamps and I'm secretly hoping they will design some fairies someday soon so I can add them to my collection of fantasy type stamps. :)
I paired Aurora and Mr. Turtle with some older scraps of Doodlebug papers I found in my stash, that stripe even dates back from 2001... yikes! It can't be a good thing when your crafty supplies start making you feel old, LOL! Anywho, I really like how they both look like they are going against the flow which ties back to the sentiment nicely.

Now I know this month is all about our flippered friends but I do have a special little four legged guy to introduce you to. Meet Cosmo, he is the newest member of the Young household and even though I am starting to feel like a bit of a 'crazy cat lady' this handsome fellow has quickly found a place in my heart. And luckily he is getting along quite nicely with his big brothers. I'm not sure what I will do if he takes a liking to spending time in the crafty room too... three cats on my desk won't leave me a whole lot of space to get anything done, LOL! :)

Later gators!

Squeal...

TGIF everybody!

Sad to say but Target was a complete bust yesterday. I searched the store high and low but in the end it looks like I'll be placing an order online instead. Oh well, at least the rest of the trip was better. :)

As for today's card, seeing as how I'd gotten both her brother and little sister on to cards I couldn't leave sweet Anuhea all by her lonesome. And it had to be now because I've got a plan to have all of my posts in June follow a very specific theme, which as cute as she is Anuhea just wouldn't fit into. So once again I stuck with the I Heart Summer papers from Simple Stories and went to town, LOL! These fun papers seemed to go hand in hand with these fun stamps for me... so quick, so easy, and I love the results.

Ok time for me to go get ready, big day ahead and I've got to get moving.
Have a great weekend and I'll see y'all Monday!  :)

Uber cool...

Good morning!

Today I am off to Cle Elum to help my sister transport some of the foster dogs that she watches. It's nice to spend time with her just hanging out and chatting but I've also got an ulterior motive to do a bit of shopping on the way there before we pick up the pups. I've got a couple things I want to look for at Target and since the closest one to me is an hour away this is the perfect opportunity.  ;)

So I couldn't resist making another Sister Stamps sno-cone cuties card today, this time featuring Ekahi. Originally he was sucking his ice through a straw but since I have never had a sno-cone with a straw I decided to do a bit of altering and wipe it away before stamping, then I just drew in a smile on his face with a black mulitliner pen. To keep things cohesive I even used papers from the same collection as yesterday, those bright colors totally say 'summer' to me. :)

Ok, time to get ready for the big road trip.
