Open and Receive

He stepped from the autumn woods
to find her
offering golden light

~

Feels so good to complete a painting.
I started this in July
life had some other plans for me, besides painting.

Now I get to start another painting, wahoo
~

I hope you are all enjoying our new season.
There is something about the thresholds of seasons,
the air holds a different energy
two seasons greeting one another
dancing back and forth.
A heightened sense of life perhaps.

Here in NW Montana
it feels as though we have truly entered autumn,
summer has vanished.

Lovely autumn to you!

Painting available here.

Forest Lad

Immersed in the forest

he knelt to visit with the boletes

~

I was so immersed in this painting that I forgot I was doing a lesson

and

didn't follow the lesson.

Makes me smile, as I love getting immersed in basically anything!

The Gift

Tis the season of gift giving

generosity

care

thoughtfulness and so much more

really it is what we make of it

and

inspires how to embrace all the days to come

~

May the sparkles of winter's snowflakes

touch your heart

a most pristine gift

~

Lovely holidays to you~

(this is an older painting, but felt perfect for today)

Sliding through the Woods

With her wand in hand, she summons a breeze to take her through the trees.

Magic of the Woods

One never knows what they will see when they wander in the woods

my computer died....
On my iPad here, I don't seem to make the photos larger
I think you can click on the images to see the magical details larger

Hiking with Friends

summer hiking
lake fishing
Lucy always in the lead
flowers blooming
forest growing
that is all we need

hiked to Whale Lake with friends last summer

(there was actually 5 of us, only 2 made it into the painting)
I think it was 12 miles round trip and 100F

I really enjoyed creating this piece
so colorful against my milky gray winter

Promise of Spring

more than a promise of spring
in her wee terrarium
all winter long
with love and protection
she holds
the first sprout
for the birth of spring

an example of where my inspiration comes from:

DC: Shinrin Yoku, Forest Bathing

as the birds flew over
the thick forest

looking down and among the trees

they spied
a wee fairy bathing
in her mushroom pool

my ponds have been frozen all winter
today i spied
5 of the 6 koi where fresh water enters the pond

their entire life is about
forest bathing

bathing under the canopy of trees
bathing in the water at the ankles of the forest

amazing how they slow down
basically meditate
for winter

Thank you Veronica
for hosting
with a wonderful theme:

Beyond the Log Cabin Walls: DC: Threshold

she stood at the threshold
before stepping out
feeling into the essence of the world
allowing her breath
to meet the sway of the trees
the depth and height of the mountains
her heart to beat
to the song of the birds
felt her kinship with the world
and
she stepped out
~

it is lovely to be DC host this week
our theme:
threshold

Part Fairy

I met a little girl
walking along an autumn forest

her voice some human
 some fairy

I said:
I think you are part fairy

she replied:
I know I am

bits of her words were entirely human and English
others flew away before I could hear them
it was as though they were carried off by butterfly wings
words laced with music, lyrical
