Clear Scraps Mixed Media Layering Stencil Video Tutorial

Happy Thursday friends, I have a fun video tutorial to share today because
everyone is asking how to use the new Layering Stencils from Clear Scraps.
I made this Steampunk Hot Air Balloon Tag using some mixed media techniques.
If nothing else it will give you an idea of how to use these super cool stencils!
Here is the video, pardon my clumsiness! LOL

Have a fantastic crafty day friends!

Spring...It's Coming Right?

Hey there friends, I know it's the dead of winter, which
I enjoy all seasons but I had a lot of fun creating this Brand New Release
They have WINTER and SUMMER as well of course.
For those one I used one of the new Mascil/Stencils and painted on the
front of it with Krylon. On the back I graduated the paint in several colors.

I also added the Butterfly Mixers from Clear Scraps. I love spray painting shit!
Krylon is definitely my GO TO.

I have fodun spray paint to be so versatile for crafting
in the scrapbooking world. I am not sure why more people don't
try it? I mean it works great on scrapbook paper too, it
never been the papers, and you can do cool designs.
Some of the mists and sprays end up drinking everything...not spray paint!
This is the BOMB! LOL I am so on it.

Happy Monday friends.

Yes, I am still crafting! LOL
Since the divorce, it is so difficult to blog consistently,
working and taking care of two boys by myself just limits my time.
I wish I had more blog time, I will try in 2016.
So this is a project I created for publication and here is a photo tutorial for it.

Affirmation Frame: I Am Beautiful....

There are so many things that are special to my heart, from
crafting to Autism, abuse advocacy, kindness and also empowerment of
others. Including not feeling ashamed of being who you are, plus size, skinny, abused,
Christian, pink haired, tattooed, anything that is true to you.
On my mind this week was a conversation with a few friends that I love
and my journey to become truly happy with myself which included
putting away the scale and not telling myself how ugly I was when I look in the mirror.
That's a hard thing to teach yourself after year of abuse.
But I feel like the journey I have taken has enabled me to have true compassion for
others who might have walked my journey and have pain.
I was touched by a friend who didn't want to compare her pain to mine
when I firmly believe that all pain is pain and it's all relevant and shapes us so
your pain might be less then or more than mine but I still respect that pain.
I decided to make her this frame- as I created it, I felt the love in my hands and
as I kept adding more embellishments the more happy it made me.
which is 18" LONG! I love it!!
I wanted her to see this every day and remember that she is incredibly
beautiful and others see it.
This is how I created it, I would love to know if you decide to make one!
  1. Separate XL Rectangle Deco Top Frame and using Krylon Coral paint, spray paint chipboard base.
  2. Using Clear Scraps 12" Heart Arrow Mascil/Stencil and Krylon metallic paint (Brushed Nickel) spray paint edges and stencil onto base.
  3. Take white paper flowers of all sizes and the 2 Krylon paints, paint them using both.
  4. Using lace- adhere lace around edges onto chipboard (not on acrylic top frame) and trim off excess.
  5. Take acrylic top layer of frame and remove protective film.
  6. Using paper lace tape- add accents to top and bottom of acrylic as shown in the photo.
  7. Where you are placing flowers and accents use hot glue to adhere acrylic top layer to chipboard layer. (remember you will cover the hot glue with flowers and other accents so no glue will be seen)
  8. Hot glue gold sequin strand around inside edges.
  9. Layer flowers using buttons and pearls, I used foam pop dots to lift them up.
  10. Adhere to frame as shown using hot glue.
  11. Add crystals and keys.
  12. On the back add picture hanger.
  13. Take Thickers fabric letters, spray paint using BOTH paints.
  14. HOT glue the letters to base- I don't use only the adhesive on the letters for any him decor I always add hot glue or adhesive.
That's it! Put your empowerment message inside and give to a friend.
A Bible verse if you are inclined or a prayer, anything that adds encouragement.

Happy Tuesday friends. :)

Bright DCVW and Xyron FUN!

Hey there friends it's HUMP DAYYYYY!
Tonight I go pick up my in laws coming in from Oregon and before I did
that I wanted to share this fun mini album I created.
for a fun bright and cheery purse album and as EVERY project I used XYRON!
Here is the super cool paper pad I used-
So after I spray painted all the chip pages with spray paint (coral)
I started by trimming my Corrugated sheets in half.
Then using their cork paper to create a trim piece.
I used my Xyron Teresa Collins Adhesive kit to adhere these pieces.
I added some DCVW Burlap also in the bright colors.
I hand trimmed out some of the Chalk paper art
adhering it to the inside of the cover,
I used the Xyron Adhesive Dots to adhere the buttons and flowers.
Man those dots make my life easy!
I threaded each button then used the dots.
I cut out the little chalk word frames from the paper pad and
used them as photo mattes. Using my Xyron Mega Runner to
adhere them on each side.
Every page I used one. You can either add photos or use chalk on them.
super fun and interactive.
Then for the back I used the dots again to adhere to buttons.
Here are all the pages in the album.

When it was completed I added lace to tie it together.
I love making this bright and cheery album! LOVE the colors and love
that new coral spray paint.

Products Used:
Clear Scraps Deco Chip Bag Album, Krylon Spray Paint, ingenuity and creativity!

"Art"ist Trading Blocks- Pinky Style

You'l have to excuse my mess today- I was busy playing
artist! LOL When my friend Eileen Hull asked me if I could
create a couple artists trading blocks for CHA I thought "Ok
no big deal!"  I love creating for CHA anyways so I just added it to my list.
Then these little boxes came and I hit a wall!
What a great idea for Sizzix & Eileen to create the Block Dies
but it was all so new to me!

I decided to open my mind and just go with it.
I dug deep inside and decided for it to be a reflection of
my heart and who I really am inside.
I covered each Matboard die that she sent me in light cocoa shimmer,
and them used my Clear Scraps Brick Wall Mascil on the largest block-
with gritty blue Smooch Spritz.
Then I spritzed them with a muddy color. I wish the shimmer was
more apparent in my photos but it's fine.
On the smaller blocks I coated them with the shimmer, then
instead of just spritzing them- I heat embossed them with copper
as the bricks. A little stronger and prettier and visible.
Each block represents who "she was" and who "she is"
and has words to describe life in formation.
The smallest block I coated in glitter but not all the way- I scratched
some off and filed a little here and there.
Added the Matboard hearts and a beautiful free spirit dancer
to the top.
They won't be the fanciest you will see, or the most layered
or the most beautiful...but then again neither am I! LOL
But they are all me!
You can find out more about the Artists Trading Blocks here:

The Mascils are on

I would love to create some more! They were fun- look for them at CHA! :)
