Again, for Humanities class we had to do a project. This time with music. (well, okay I wouldn't call it a PROJECT, but whatever) Anyway. We had to pick three songs and decide if they were appropriate according to certain criteria. I didn't know what songs to pick, because I really haven't listened to a lot of music lately. As much as I really love music, I don't make it a priority to listen to it or find new songs. So I just opened my itunes and picked a random song to listen to and look up the lyrics for. It just so happened to be "Happy Girl" by Martina McBride. (in case you are wondering, i LOVE her!) As I was listening to it and reading the lyrics, I thought it was crazy how much I really connected with the song. Especially the part about going to parties and just standing in the corner. That whole verse was ME! That used to be exactly how I was. And I really wasn't a very happy person then. But now that I am changing a little bit from that I am MUCH happier! Anyway, I don't really know how to add a song to this post...so I'll just post the lyrics. You can look up the actual song yourself :) enjoy!
I used to live in a darkened room
Had a face of stone
And a heart of gloom
Lost my hope, I was so far gone
all my tears
With the curtains drawn
I didn't know until my soul broke free
I've got these angels watching over me, yeah
Oh watch me go
I'm a happy girl
Everybody knows
That the sweetest thing that you'll ever see
In the whole wide world
Is a happy girl
I used to hide in a party crowd
Bottled up inside
Feeling so left out
Standing in a corner wearing concrete shoes
With my frozen smile
And my lighted fuse
Now everytime i start to feel like that
I roll my heart out like a welcome mat
Oh watch me go
I'm a happy girl
Everybody knows
That the sweetest thing that you'll ever see
In the whole wide world
Is a happy girl
Laugh when i feel like it
Cry when i feel like it
That's just how my life is
That's how it goes
Oh watch me go
I'm a happy girl
And i've come to know
That the world won't change
Just 'cause I complain
Let the axis twirl
I'm a happy girl
Oh watch me go
I'm a happy girl
Everybody knows
That the sweetest thing that you'll ever see
In the whole wide world
Is a happy girl
Oh,yeah oh,yeah
I'm a happy girl

Lasagna
I made a YUMMY lasagna for dinner tonight. We had a bunch of friends over, Mike, Mckay and his girlfriend Alli, Maddie, Danny and his fiance Kate. We don't get to hang out with them very often so we decided it was finally time! I made lasagna and they brought salad and garlic bread. And boy oh boy was it YUMMY!!! I made a huge pan of it, plus some. I thought I would have way too much so I took the smaller pan over to the family Juston home teaches. Well, we ate almost ALL of it. I was surprised.
It was a mixture of cottage cheese, ricotta cheese, mozzarella, spinnach, italian seasonings, and a little parmesan (we put our leftover ravioli filling into it). Plus I added some chopped zucchini with browned onion and italian sausage. MMMM MMM tasty. I have decided I need to make that more often, just in smaller quantities so we don't have to have 8 people over to finish it off.

Africa
Today I went to a forum thing about humanitarian aid through the church. I went for extra credit and totally expected to be bored the entire time. However, I was not bored AT ALL. It really made me want to reach out and do something for those in need. But mostly, it made me so sad I wasn't able to go to Africa. That is definitely something I want to do in my life, even if I have to wait until all of my kids are old and gone..... oh one day.

Humanities Project
For my Humanities Class we had to do a photography project. We had to take a landscape picture, a portrait, and choose two of the following: Creation, Fall, Redemption, Hero's Journey. I chose the Creation and Hero's Journey. Here is what I came up with. (keep in mind, I NEVER take pictures....) I am especially proud of my Creation picture!
Creation
Hero's Journey.
I know, oh so creative of me.

Valentines Day
We had a great Valentines Day this year. Celebrated in total Brighton & Juston fashion. With FOOD FOOD FOOD! We woke up and I made heart shaped crepes, went to church, came home and made heart shaped tuna sandwiches, and then made heart shaped homemade ravioli!! mmmm mmm it was good! It took us ALL DAY to make the ravioli, but it was worth it. We also made asparagus, an artichoke (which was a flop), and brushetta bread with a yummy tomato topping. As I was cooking the ravioli I decided to dye the water pink to make the ravioli turn pink :)
Juston also got me some very beautiful flowers. I love them oh so very much!! I picked out one bouquet and then he snuck to the store to pick out another haha.
I also took pictures of our yummy crepes, but my camera is stupid and deleted them. We also forgot to take pictures of the finished ravioli with the yummy tomato sauce we made. Oh well. But all around it was a really fun, relaxing day. It was nice to have a day together, away from our phones, computer, and homework to just hang out!

writing
I hate it. I hate being given a topic and having to write about it. I hate having to worry about if I am writing correctly or how the teacher wants. I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT!!! It stresses me out so much. I have been sitting here trying to write a 350-400 word response for about an hour now....and it isn't even on a hard topic! What on earth am I going to do when I move on to the next one that is much harder?! oh boy.

bleh
i know i said i would make more time to blog and actually blog on a regular basis. i have failed miserably at that. i actually think of things to write about, but never actually do.
anyway. i love this semester. i am not NEAR as stressed out as i was last semester. i should be spending a little more time with classes like biology, but i dont. i dont love my classes as much as i did last semester, but it is nice to have a bit of a stress break!
i also love my husband very much. i admire his ability to make time to study, do homework, AND have time for himself AND time for me. i know sometimes he thinks he doesnt do well enough, but i think he is amazing. i could definitely take some lessons from him!
i hope you all had a fabulous monday!!

(i really want one that is 50s style) but we still have 2 months until our cruise and even longer til it is warm here. this is going to be a long few months for me i think!

--pants that fit make you feel SOO much better about yourself!
