OTWC Challenge #18

While blurfing today I stumbled on to this NEW (to me) OTWC challenge blog and decided to give it a try. It was a color inspiration challenge.

We were to use this picture as our inspiration and the colors to use were blue, yellow, and white. We could add cream to the mixture as well.

And this is the card that I made based on this inspiration.

I guess what really drew me to this challenge besides the colors was this handmade satin flower that I made earlier today along with a few other ones. They just happened to be sitting on my desk waiting to be packaged up for sale.

I made a few other cards today ~ I just can't share them with you yet.

enjoy!

~ supplies ~
paper: neenah (natural white) melissa frances (kitschy kitchen)
accessories: handmade by me flower and wrinkle ribbon, pebblesinc. (rub-ons), prima (flower centers)

admit one ~ ooops

I have a couple cards to share with you this morning. The first one is for the newest challenge over at cardabilities and this weeks sketch challenge was a round card.

I had so much fun making this round card. I used some of my new PTI stuff that I have bought over the past few months, but had not used yet as well as some cosmo cricket "tiny type" stickers.

And this is the sketch that started it all.

The next card I am going to share with you is for a new challenge Waltzingmouse I have never done before and the ooops to my post title today. I had the card ready to post yesterday but thought I would wait until today to upload it. Well when I checked this morning this challenge was over and a new one was up and posted.

So I will just share the card with you and not the actual sketch.

For this card I used one of my Pure Innocence digital stamps along with some leftover scraps of paper from the We R Memory Makers papers called "Vintage Blue". I just love the colors. The buttons are BasicGrey.

Enjoy!

cwc014 ~ bling it up!

Okay so those of you that know me ~ know that I do not like anything shiny especially in my craftroom.

So when I first saw the challenge over at CAS~tastic was to "bling it up" I thought I would skip the challenge this week. Well you now me I can't walk away so decided to give it a shot.

As you can see I added just a tad touch of bling to my little card, along with a few of my favorite things which are handmade wrinkle ribbon and handmade satin flowers.

I took the following picture on my drive up to my sisters house. They had a 30 mile detour which took me through rows and rows of corn and sunflower fields. Well I just had to take a picture. Don't mind my picture it is not the best but I had to use my cell phone to take the photo.

Enjoy!

I'm back ~ exciting news

I just got back this evening from a trip up north to visit my oldest sister for a couple days. Although I love going and hanging out with her, it is always nice to get back home to the family.

Right before I left I found out that I was accepted to be on the Design Team over at Sasya's Sketches. I just love this challenge blog and was so excited when they posted that they were looking for a few new design team members. If you haven't checked them out before please stop over and play along with this weeks sketch.

My official term doesn't start until next week, but that did not stop me from doing this weeks sketch.

For this card I used some of my new My Minds Eye papers from the "So Sophie" collection, along with a cuttlebug embossing folder, some PTI vintage buttons and my Martha Stewart butterfly punch.

Enjoy!

no card wednesday

I don't have a card to share with you today as I am getting ready to go on a little trip up north but will be back on Friday.

Thought I would share a couple pictures of the families last trip up to my brother-in-laws cabin. It is in Northern Minnesota and sits on 220 acres with a private lake available only to the 3 properties on the lake.

This is Justin enjoying a day spent on the pontoon boat and the picture above this one is an eagles nest with an eagle or two in it.

sweet ~ funnest birthday ever!

Nope it's not my birthday!

I have a card and a layout to share with you today. First is a card that I made for the challenge over at Twisted Sketches.

The image I used is a digital from Sassy Cheryl's the best part about it is that no coloring is required. I bought it that way.

My layout below is for a new sketch challenge blog called Lasting Memories and the challenge for this week was to do a layout with bows and buttons.

I had bought a Tim Holtz flourish mask and wanted to try it out with my glimmer mist so decided this would be the perfect opportunity. I started out by laying the mask on my white card stock and then spraying two different blue and a green glimmer mist. Then I removed the mask and added my photo, I attached some handmade wrinkle ribbon and then added a bow to each row. It didn't seem complete so I added some dogwood flowers with buttons, some butterflies that I had punched out of white cardstock after I sprayed it with more of the glimmer mist and then I added some black flourishes for tails.

 Hope you enjoy!

odds and ends ~ vintage typewriter

I have one last post for this evening before I go and join the family for some TV watching. This card is for the Paper Crafts Inspired by Challenge which ends tomorrow at Midnight.

It was finally time to quit hoarding my fabulous October Afternoon "typewriter journal card" from the Thrift Shop Collection.  I added another sticker sentiment from the same collection, some wrinkled vintage ribbon I made and a rolled rose.

Enjoy!

just kitschy

I love this new paper by Melissa Frances  that I bought this past weekend at Anchor Paper. It is called "just kitschy".

I have used it again and this time it is for the sketch challenge over at Friday Sketchers.

Aren't those papers fun? So perfect as I got to use two things that I love lately on my card ~ rolled roses and handmade wrinkle ribbon.

Enjoy!

happy holidays ~ celebrate

It is 85 degrees out with humidity and I have a Christmas Card to share with you this evening. As soon as I saw this weeks sketch at Card Positioning Systems I knew that I had to do snowflakes.

For this card I used my QuicKutz snowflake embossing folder and my Cuttlebug large snowflake cut and emboss die. I applied vintage glass glitter to the snowflake and used a PTI holiday vintage button. Sentiment is a rub-on from Pebblesinc.

My next card is for Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge and I actually turned the sketch for my card.
For this card I used some new papers that I picked up at Anchor Paper yesterday. They are by Melissa Frances and it is a 6x6 pad called Kitschy Kitchen. So cute and vintagey. I also bought the matching stickers.

That's it for me tonight I will be back tomorrow with another card and maybe a layout or two.
Enjoy!

thank you

Just a quick card to share with you this morning for this weeks challenge over at Clean and Simple Stamping and this week they are celebrating their 100th sketch.

Yep, I used more of my handmade wrinkle ribbon and the scallops are from a sheet of die-cuts made by We R Memory Keepers.

Here is the sketch that was the inspiration for this weeks card.

Enjoy!

butterflies

I have a card to share with you which is for the newest sketch challenge over at Taylored Expressions.

I pulled out the Webster's Pages "petite papers" for this card along with my Martha Stewart butterfly punches. Oh how I love them. The embossing die is by QuicKutz and the ribbon is some of my handmade wrinkle ribbon.

Speaking of wrinkle ribbon I made a few more batches of it today in bright yellow, orange, pink, and lime green.  I don't know what is more addicting using it or making it.

If you are interested in purchasing some send me an email or leave a comment.

I am working at Anchor Paper Express tomorrow so if you are in the area stop and say hello.

Enjoy!

have a merry christmas...

I know you had to read that title twice and yes I am posting a Christmas Card in July! I usually start making my cards early, but not usually this early.

My card is for the challenge over at CCEE and they are having a holiday card sketch challenge this week.

I got the inspiration for my card from the following sketch and once I saw it I knew that I wanted to do some kind of a wreath and I also knew that I wanted to do some kind of an embossing folder.

I had not used this punch yet and once I got going making the little wreath it was quite fun, the hard part was gluing them all down and then adding the fiskar rain dots.

So now I have one card down and 99 more to go. Hope you will join me this week in this fun challenge.

Enjoy!

~ supplies ~
paper: neenah (solar white linen) basis (red and green)
ink: memento black
stamps: a muse (have a merry)
accessories: cuttlebug (25 days embossing folder) american crafts (christmas ribbon) fiskars (rain dots) evergreen bough punch

life is a beach...

It has finally cooled off here today and the humidity is almost non-existent. Now that is probably because it is grey, cloudy, and rainy outside.

I got a new stamp in the mail yesterday that I had won from Claudia and Company and it is Christian who is one of Lori Boyd's "puddle jumpers". I think they are so cute and it worked perfect with some scraps of paper I had sitting on my desk.

The inspiration for this sketch besides this cute little image was the sketch over at Pals Paper Arts.

Enjoy!

~ supplies ~
paper: neenah (solar white linen) little yellow bicycle (boardwalk collection)
ink: memento (black) ranger (distress vintage photo and tumbled glass)
accessories: cosmo cricket (tiny type stickers) signo gel pen and dew drops

you make life sweet

"summer time and the living is easy"

The challenge over at CAS~tastic this week is to make a summery card and to me nothing says summer more than bright colors and watermelon.

This is a little 4.25" square card that I added a swiss dots embossed piece to, tied on some of my handmade wrinkle ribbon in a bright pink, and then added some may arts ribbon. I cut out the sentiment (impression obsession) using my nestability tag die. The watermelon slice is a basicgrey "woolie" that I cut down.

ENJOY!

a card ~ and a layout or two

Hopefully, blogger is going to let me do this post. You know what they say 3rd time is the charm.

I am really proud of myself I actually got out my sewing machine again and sewed on my card. I have to admit this could become very addicting.

My card is for the newest challenge over at Sketches! (by tamara) and once again I have used some of the "vintage blue" by We R Memory Keepers. I just love the colors in this paper collection and it matched perfectly with my handmade wrinkle ribbon.

Next I have a couple of layouts to share with you from some old challenges I had planned on doing and did not get to them in time.

This first one was inspired by an old sketch from Twisted Sketches. (edited: I just realized this was a current sketch and not an old one).

This one uses the same papers in the "vintage blue" collection as the card above. My next layout is an old Pencil Line sketch and uses some leftover papers from Imaginisce called "splash dance".

That is it for me this evening I am off to watch "The Runaways" that just came out on video today!
Enjoy!

you're a hoot

This first card is for this weeks challenge over at CAS~tastic and the challenge was SIMPLE... Use 3 of the following items on a card, embossing, stamped or printed image, inked edges, masking, paper piercing, or lace.

As you can see I used stamped or printed image, inked edges, and paper piercing on this card. This was my second card that I made as I couldn't really submit my first one as the ribbon I used could not be condsidered lace ~ or could it?

Don't you just love this little owl stamp? I got him at Michaels with a coupon for $1.50 and that price included the sentiment and the twig branch.

Hope you enjoy and I will be back with another card and a couple of layouts. If blogger behaves and lets me upload the pictures.

Project Tuesday ~ flower frame and winner

It's Tuesday and that means time for  Project Tuesday! This week it is all about making rolled flowers and using them on a project.

Your flowers can be created using paper, felt, or fabric and once you learn how to make them you won't be able to stop. Believe me, I know. I am thinking of changing my blog name from Button Junkie to Flower Fiend!

This is a small 4.5 x 4.5 frame that I had sitting around the house and it was a celery green color so I knew I wanted to change the color. I first painted it with an egg shell white, but didn't like how it turned out so I added a light coat of manila ove it. Once that was dry I rubbed on some ranger distress ink in vintage photo, faded jeans, and tumbled glass. Then before that was completely dry I rubbed off some of it to give it a real light color to match the lake water.

I hope you enjoy and will take a little time to play along with us this week over at Project Tuesday. Check out the tutorial you will be glad you did.

Now thanks to everyone who entered my drawing for the handmade wrinkle ribbon and the winner is... Suezie... Congrats!!! send me your address and I will get some of my ribbon on it's way to you.

happy birthday dooderbug (aka cassie jo)

Happy Birthday Cassie!

It looks like it is going to be a beautiful day here in Minnesota and I have a couple of things to share with you today. The first is a layout I did of Cassie from her birthday party yesterday.

And this is a close up of the flower I made using PTI felt in Raspberry Fizz. Love the combination of pink and yellow in the Cosmo Cricket "DeLovely" collection.

I got my inspiration for this layout from the newest sketch over at Pencil Lines.

Now I have a card to share with you and it is for this weeks challenge over at CPS.

This is another one of the new papers from We R Memory Keepers called Vintage Blue that I picked up this past week. I love the colors in it.

I hope you have a great day and I will be back tomorrow with something new from Project Tuesday and you still have time to enter my wrinkled ribbon give away as I won't pick the winner until tomorrow morning.

Enjoy!

water baby play ~ for Amy!

So a few days ago my friend Amy sent me this sketch from sweet peach crop shop and wanted to know if I was up for a friendly challenge. Well of course I couldn't turn her down, although I probably should have.

This layout took me 3 days to complete. It was a lot of trying out different paper combinations, adjusting the photo color, ripping off what I had put down, trying new papers, and new embellishments.

Well after working on it last night until the Tornado sirens went off I finally finished it up this morning. I think I am okay with it now, just wish I could of toned down my felt embellishments just a notch. Did you happen to notice the stitching around the largest piece of patterned paper? I finally brought out the machine and did some sewing. (not as hard as I thought it would be)

Enjoy!

~ supplies ~
paper: the paper company (cream white cardstock), we r memory keepers (72 and Sunny), neenah natural white
ink: ranger distress (vintage photo and tumbled glass
embellishments: felt circles, american crafts (thickers), nestability (label one), pti (die-namics banner), cosmo cricket (tiny type stickers), karen foster (scrappers floss)

one of those days!

Did you ever have one of those days where you had plans to do a lot of things and when it was all said and done, you didn't hardly make a dent in the to-do list?

Today was one of those days. I had plans to go and spend the day scrapbooking and ended up doing everything but that.

I do have some cards to share with you. this first one is for the challenge at Eat, Sleep, Stamp and for this card I used another new pure innnocence set that I bought at the last MFT release party. I also used some October Afternoon "thrift shop" papers.

My next card is for cardabilities sketch #7 ~ my friend Amy just made the design team over there and this is her first week doing the challenge with the rest of the team. For this card I used some new papers that I picked up at Archivers yesterday called So Sophie by My Mind's Eye. I love the fun colors.

My last card is for Clean and Simple Stamping and for this one I used a new stamp by Hero Arts called "elegant weeds" and some of my handmade wrinkle ribbon.

I will try and post a layout or two tomorrow as my friend Amy has challenged me to a scrapbook layout challenge.

Enjoy!
