Simply Watercolor Class - Day Two

Today is day two of my Simply Watercolor Class and in this class we are using watercolors and drawing mediums only. NO STAMPS!

I can't draw to save my life and today was all about drawing animals. (insert sad face here)

I tried the first technique and immediately threw it out along with the 2nd technique. Finally I decided to be brave and just do the third technique.

Meet Mr. Bear...

I am going to just say I love how he turned out. I will definitely do another one like this so I can work on my animal drawing skills and also my banner skills.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today it really means a lot to me.

Simply Watercolor Class - Day One Continued

Wanted to share with you the last card that I made for yesterdays class.

I definitely need to practice my plaid patterns but for a first try I am pretty happy with it. I redid the sentiment 3 times and wasn't excited about how that looked but went with it
anyways as that is how I write.

Definitely need a hand lettering class next.

I am off to craft club at our church this morning so will do today's lesson when I get home.

Enjoy your day and thanks for stopping by.

a true friend ~ thinking of you

I have a couple of cards to share with you today. I made them while chatting with my friend Michelle on Skype.

This first card is for a new sketch challenge I found while blurfing called "sassy lil sketches". It was a good sketch to try out one of my new sentiment stamps, butterfly and seam binding.

I didn't know how to color the butterfly so I took three different colors of glimmer mist and placed them randomly on a sheet of white cardstock and then I stamped the buttterfly image then added some copic markers to some of the areas.

Here is the sketch that inspired this card. If you have time stop by and see what you can create using the sketch.

My next card is for Clean and Simple Stamping and for this one I used some of the PTI 8x8 paper collection "library ledger". I love this collection. One of my favorites. And I added some of my handmade wrinkle ribbon in brown.

Here is the sketch that inspired the card. So much fun and so many possibilities, which is what makes this such an amazing card sketch.

Well that is it for me today. Stop back tomorrow and I will have a couple new cards to show you.

Enjoy!

hi ~ celebrate ~ hi

As I look back at these cards I made late last night I am beginning to think my MOJO left when the high heat and humidity arrived. I was in a mood to craft, but just could not get anything to turn out the way I saw it.

I am going to share them anyways as I think everyone has on days and off days.

This card is for the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge and although you can't tell by this picture the card is a 3x3 size. I made it to fit some new envelopes I picked up late last week. I paper pieced the pineapple using BasicGrey "offbeat". Love that paper.

My next card is for the challenge at Twisted Sketches and this weeks twist is to use "stripe" anyhow, anyway.

For this card I also used the same BasicGrey papers (I am stuck in a rut I think) "offbeat" and the sentiment is from Fiskars. It happens to be a birthday sentiment set that I picked up at Anchor Paper this month for the stamp of the month.

This last card is for the CPS Sketch and at least grabbed some different pattern paper off my desk. This paper is from the Autumn Splendor collection by Making Memories. I bought it last Fall.

What do you do with your left over papers from last year? I have so many paper collections that I have used for card making and scrapbooking and yet still have tons left. Do you tuck it in a corner and forget about it or do you recycle it? I would love to hear your thoughts on it.

Enjoy!

happy birthday ~ alice in wonderland

I don't know how the weather is your area but I am so ready for Fall to get here. I don't care for hot weather.

Today I have a couple cards to share with you. The first one is for this weeks challenge over at Clean and Simple Stamping. And if I haven't said this before I just love the sketches.

For the card I used the new BasicGrey "olivia" collection along with a Martha Stewart butterfly and some pebblesinc., rub-ons. Here is the sketch that I used for my inspiration.

My next card is for a new Sketch Challenge Blog that my friend Michelle  told me about called Oh Alice and they do challenges that have to do with the story "Alice in Wonderland". This weeks challenge is white rabbit, white gloves, white wonderland. This means everything on your card needs to be white except for the image.

For my card I used an image that I found on the internet of the Alice in Wonderland book cover and then made everything else white. I used the brick embossing folder by Tim Holtz, added white wrinkle ribbon under the image and flower, made a rolled rose that I added rock candy distressed stickles to along with some white glitter. I also added some Stampin Up leaves that I applied more of the Rock Candy Stickles and glitter to.

Hope you enjoy!

SURPRISE ~ happy birthday AMY!!!

Happy Birthday to YOU
Happy Birthday to YOU
Happy Birthday dear AMY
Happy Birthday to YOU!!!!

Today we are doing a surprise blog party for Amy as it is her BIRTHDAY. Most of you probably know her or have seen her around blog land. She is one of the most genuine friendly people you will ever meet. She was one of the first people to start commenting on my blog when I started it about 1.5 years ago.

Amy loves OWLS so I give you my birthday card.

For this card I used my labels 8 to cut out my card and then I stamped the entire card with the hero arts friend background stamp and then inked the edges. The branch is from the Stampin' Up bird punch, sentiment is Cosmo Cricket tiny type teal stickers and the OWL is a Studio G stamp that I got at Michaels.

Amy hope you enjoy your special day and enjoy this little blog hop created just for YOU!!!

hoppy birthday ~ happy holidays

Today I have a couple cards to show you that I worked on last night while skyping with my friend Michelle in Australia.

My first card is for a new challenge blog I found while blurfing yesterday. The name of the blog is "All Things Unity". Besides finding this blog I was happy to hear that Anchor Paper Express will be carrying the Unity Stamps. Two of our buyers went to CHA and I recommended they check them out ~ and they did and love them too.

For my card I used a kraft card base and all the papers are from the new Memory Box release called " mistletoe", isn't it just yummy? The snowflake is a cuttlebug snowflake cut and emboss one and the button is basicgrey.

Here is the sketch that inspired my card.

My next card is for sketch challenge #101 over at Clean and Simple Stamping. I used my all~time favorite BasicGrey paper collection "be silly". I have been hoarding my last few pieces of this paper and when I saw this weeks sketch I knew I had to let go.

Everything on the Card is BasicGrey except for the sentiment which I made with my Dymo Label Maker and the chipboard star which I covered with the BG paper and added faux stitch lines to.

Here is the sketch I followed.

I hope you enjoy! Have a fabulous Sunday.

sweet ~ funnest birthday ever!

Nope it's not my birthday!

I have a card and a layout to share with you today. First is a card that I made for the challenge over at Twisted Sketches.

The image I used is a digital from Sassy Cheryl's the best part about it is that no coloring is required. I bought it that way.

My layout below is for a new sketch challenge blog called Lasting Memories and the challenge for this week was to do a layout with bows and buttons.

I had bought a Tim Holtz flourish mask and wanted to try it out with my glimmer mist so decided this would be the perfect opportunity. I started out by laying the mask on my white card stock and then spraying two different blue and a green glimmer mist. Then I removed the mask and added my photo, I attached some handmade wrinkle ribbon and then added a bow to each row. It didn't seem complete so I added some dogwood flowers with buttons, some butterflies that I had punched out of white cardstock after I sprayed it with more of the glimmer mist and then I added some black flourishes for tails.

 Hope you enjoy!
