The Flower Challenge - CASE

This months challenge over on The Flower Challenge the theme is 'CASE' which means Copy and Share Everything.  So basically taking inspiration from.

I've had dies since I first starting card making and never used them in this way.  You simply place the die cut back into the card, with a coloured background behind.  The piece I used was a background I made a while ago with Alcohol Inks.  I'm glad I finally got to use it.  The die is by Memory Box.

Masculine Art Journal Page

The present challenge over at That's Crafty is 'Masculine', so I thought I'd do a page in my journal, since it's all quite girly at the moment, need variation, right?
I blended Distress Inks all over the page, I used Rusty Hinge, Broken China, Stormy Sky and Vintage Photo.  I used Texture Paste through a clock stencil, and coloured it with the same inks.  I added various bits of stamping, and cut the clock from a Tim Holtz die.  I coloured this with Vintage Photo DI, then added some gilding wax to it and also over the stencilling.  The wording is a stamp from Visible Image.
Thanks for looking. xx

Pretty Bubbles.......

I'm getting quite addicted to this Art Journal malarky....lol
I used Distress Inks (Picked Raspberry, Spiced Marmalade, Abandoned Coral) for the background then sprayed water through a stencil and splashed water to remove some colour.  Stenciled with the same DI colours.  The bubbles (a big lopsided....) were stamped with Sheena stamps and coloured with Gellatos. The smaller bubbles were stamped with Lavinia stamps and round the edges with a stamp from Paper Artsy. I finished off stamping the words, using stamps by Dyan Reavely and colours in some of the bubbles round the edges with gold and white pens.
Inspiration for this is from Marta Lapkowska.

Spring Blooms at Lavinia

I made this tag for the present challenge over on Lavinia Stamps where the theme is 'Spring Blooms".
For the background I pressed 3 Distress Ink pads onto my craft mat, spritzed with water then places the tag onto it, lifting and repeating till I was happy with the effect, think this is called 'smooshoing'.  Colours used were Mustard Seed, Mowed Lawn and Spiced Marmalade.  Once this was try, I stamped the flowers with Versfine and coloured them with Mowed Lawn and Ripe Persimmon DI's.  I also sponged some Ripe Persimmon around the edges, then added the pearl dots round the flowers using a Pearl wand by Pinflair, which are available in my online shop, Opal Crafts.  I've tried another brand of these pearls but I find I get a rounder finish with the Pinflair ones.  Finished of with an organza ribbon bow.

Same Stamp, 3 Cards

I didn't realise how long it was since I last blogged, so sorry but I've had the decorator in again and my house has now been decorated from top to bottom and I've finally got my pictures back up!  I'm on painting my old kitchen cabinet now, one of those from the 1950's.  I bought it about 25 years ago and it's been all colours..... lol.  Now it's going to be black and white to match my kitchen even though it doesn't actually stand in my kitchen, but it's very close.... lol.
I bought some new flower stamps from Honey Doo Crafts, this is one of the stamps, went a bit mad using it for the first time..... lol.
I used Spectrum Noir Blending Pencils to colour this one.  I used the 'Sue Wilson Pricking Technique' round the edges, the sentiment stamp if from a set by Stamps U Love.  Sorry I forgot to make a note of the colours used.
I used just one shade of Distress Ink to colour this one, Seedless Preserve, and also used the same colour for the splatters.  The sentiment is a stamp by Inkylicious, still my favourite sentiment.
I used Distress Ink to colour this one too, Peacock Feathers and again for the splatters, and my favourite sentiment stamp again.

Poppies

I was raking through one of my boxes of stamps the other day and came across this one, never used and still sealed, shocking I know...... lol, but how many of us have done the exact same thing.  The stamps are by Sheena Douglass and the set is called Poppies & Daisies.  I stamped in Versafine onto Sheena Stamping card, then used Distress ink to colour the image - Seedless Preserve, and Adirondack - Oregano.  Finally all mounted up onto a gate fold card, with an embossed base.
Thanks for looking.

Day of the Dead Stamps by Sheena Douglass

Another projects us these fab stamps.  This is for my sons 19th Birthday next week.  He plays the guitar so thought it was perfect.  It just needs the sentiment adding.
I started by inking the background with Distress Inks in Rusty Hinge and Vintage Photo and Adirondak Pesto.  Once that was done, I stamped around the edges with the music stamp, then I used the Skull die and just inked through it, to get the ghost like faces, then I ran it though an embossing folding and added some Gilding Wax when it was done.
Now for the toppers, they're all cut with the Dies from this set then stamped.  I cut the guitar and hat from black card, and coated with the 3 different colours of Gilding Wax, Silver, Empire Gold and Renaissance Gold.  These dies are brilliant as you can cut them and pose the skeleton however you want.  I just had to add the cat too.... lol.

Spring Colours

I can post this card at last...... I made it a couple of weeks ago, but had to wait to upload it as the recipient will have seen it.....  Anyway, it was her birthday at the weekend, so here it is.  First I stamped the flowers with Versamark and heat embossed with white embossing powder.  Then I inked it up with Distress Inks in Broken Chine and Fossilized Amber (I think).  Once happy I then splashed some water over it and dabbed it of to reveal white spots, (the water removes the ink), I also added some script with a stamp by Tim Holtz.  Finished off with a computer generated sentiment and cut it with a Sue Wilson die.
Thanks for looking.

Lotus Blossoms

I really love these layering flower stamps.  These are  Lotus Blossoms from Stampin Up (not sure if they're still available as I bought them from a selling group on Facebook),
For this one I used one shade of Memento Ink for the flowers, Teal Zeal, though it does look more blue in the pic.  I stamped the first stamp (darkest), straight from the stamp, for the second step I  inked up the stamp and stamped first onto scrap paper then stamped over the first image, for the 3rd layer I inked up and stamped twice onto scrap paper then stamped over the other 2 image.  The stems were stamped with Memento Cottage Ivy.  The mason jar is from a stamp set by Inkadinkadoo and stmped in Memento London Fog.  I pierced round the edge to finish off.
For this one, I stamped the first stamp straight from the pad using Memento Love Letter, then for the 2nd stage, inked up the stamp and stamped onto scrap paper first, then stamped over the first image.  The white layer was created by stamping the 3rd stamp with Versamark and then heat embossed with clear embossing powder.  The background was done with Distress Inks, blended, in Broken China and Mowed Lawn.  The clear embossing powder acts as a resist, so any ink just wipes of that part of the image. I then splashed water over it and dabbed off leaving white speckles.  Finished off with a bit of the Bokeh technique.  I got the inspiration for this one from Google.

Lavinia Stamps

The challenges have just started up again at Lavinia Stamps, but this time it's through Facebook instead of their challenge blog.
The coloured cardstock was a piece of waste which I used to smooch through Distress Inks in the colours, Picked Raspberry, Spiced Marmalade and Mustard Seed.  I simply pressed the ink pads onto my craft mat, gave them a spritz of water, then pressed the piece of card into it.  I like the end result, so kept it for future use.  All I did was stamp the flowers in black, the bubbles in Picked Raspberry, added some sparkle then cut the piece into 3 equal sized pieces.

Wonderful Day

I made this background a few weeks ago and it's been sitting looking at me since then, screaming for me to add it to a card.... lol
I started by inking a piece of card stock with Distress Inks in Peacock Feathers, Picked Raspberry and Mowed Lawn, then I ran it through the Bigshot to emboss it.  Next I carefully swept over the embossing with a Versamark ink pad, then heat embossed it using clear embossing powder, added my favourite sentiment stamp by Inkylicious, using one of the Pierced Flag dies by Sue Wilson and finished off with a few sequins.
Thanks for looking.

Two Cards.......

...... From one piece of A5 cardstock.
I love to see techiniques done by Eileen Godwin and she's just added a new one to her YouTube channel, so I thought I'd give it a go, it's Eileens version of the Master Board Technique.  If you've got some white Gesso, and inks then you can do this technique too. I've added the link to the tutorial for you, it was easier than me explaining it all..... lol.
I had an A5 piece of card handy so thought I'd use the full piece, that why I've got 2 cards.

Distress Inks used are Picked Raspberry, Evergreen Bough, Wild Honey and Vintage Photo.
I love this technique and will be doing it again.  Why not have a go, I'm sure you'll enjoy it too.

More Layering Stamps

I'm loving these stamps very much.  I've been playing with them alot, but this is only the 3rd card made using them..... I've been stamping them and deciding which colours work best.  I'd reccommend anyone new to these stamps to do the same, and to keep them for future reference.
This card uses stamps from Altenew Vintage Rose set and the small flowers and leaves are from the Beautiful Day set.  Colours used are Juniper, Meadow, Pink Sherbet, Raspberry, Currant, Cloudy Blue, Stonewashed, Denim - all Adirondacks and Chipped Shapphire Distress Ink.
Thanks for looking.

Flowers at Clarity

This months challenge over at Clarity Stamps is 'Say It With Flowers'.  I don't have an awful lot of Clarity stamps, yes I'm working on that..... lol, so didn't think I'd be able to enter this one.  So out came my Clarity box, and found I did have the items needed, so here goes.
I made some basic stencils a few months ago and used one of them for the center of this card.  I used Distress Inks in Picked Raspberry and Peacock Feathers applied through the stencil with a brush. Then I used a Clarity stencil for the flowers, inked in the same colours as the background.  The stamps are from the Wee Fairies set (I think) which were stamps in black Versafine and heat embosed with clear embossing powder.  Finished off with the sentiment and a little sparkle to the image.
The challenge ends on 31st January.
Thanks for looking.

A Bit Masculine

I've had this stamp set for ages and it's never been used, so thought I'd use it for this mans card. (we all know how difficult they are to make..... lol)
I started off by blending distress ink for the background, Rusty Hinge, Tea Dye and Aged Mahogany.  I then did some random stamping with a script stamp from a Tim Holtz set, and the various small stamps from the main set, sorry I have no idea what make the stamp set is, I think it was free on a magazine.  I then stamped the main image and sentiment in black Versafine and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.  I also did the edges the same.
I have no one in mind for this card, but it will come in handy at some point.
I'd like to enter this into the present challenge over at That's Crafty, where their theme is 'Anything Goes'. (8.1.16)

Long time no post!

I didn't realise how long it was since I last posted, been that busy with Christmas cards and other Christmas stuff.......   I have a couple of birthdays in the next week, so I've finally got round to making them.
I used Distress ink in Tumbled Glass and Tea Dye for all the colour on this one.  The sentiment is a stamp by Woodware, the others, of course are Crazy Birds.
I used the bubble stencil from Clairty, inked through with Adirondack Inks in Pink Sherbet and Egg Plant.  All of the stamps are from a set by Marion Emberson called On Your Special Day.

Halloween

I'm still loving these Halloween stamps from Chocolate Baroque....... lol.  I used Distress Inks in Peeled Paint, Dusty Concord, Vintage Photo and Spiced Marmade for this tag.
I'm entering this tag into the present challenge at That's Crafty, where the theme is Halloween.

IndogBlu

I entered a challenge over on IndigoBlu's challenge blog a few weeks ago, and was asked to make an inspiration piece for them for today, with the theme of Autumn Days.

This is what I came up with.
As usual I used Distress Inks applied with blending brushes (shaving brushes.... lol), in the following shades, Forest Moss, Spiced Marmalade, Ripe Persimmon, Fossilized Amber and Vintage Photo.  The stamps are of course by IndigoBlu, called Nature Set 1.
Thanks for looking.

Little Things......

Well my blogging everyday didn't do very well...... lol things never go to plan do they......
Anyway, this is a little tag I made last week.  I used Distress Inks in Mermaid Lagoon and Everygreen Bough for the background, applied with duster brushes.  The flower and bubble stamps are from a set by Paper Artsy, birds, sentiment and harlequin patters are from a Tim Holtz set. I added highlights with a white Posca pen.

Daisy Duck

I made this card for my Great niece who was 2 last week.  I used Distress Inks in Spun Sugar and Shaded Lilac for the background.  I stamped and coloured the image with ProMarkers and used the Letterbox stamps from Clarity for the wording, to which I also added a coat of very fine sparkly embossing powder.  The little flowers were a stamp from The Stamp Man with a gem added to the centres.
Thanks for looking xx
