Thanks for the Best Catch ~ HSSSC#338

I have lost track of what day of quarantine we are on, but I do know that today is Tuesday because we have an all new Hand Stamped Sentiments Challenge for you!  This week we have a great sketch for you to play along with and I can't wait to see what you all create!
I'm stamping my way through some of my favorite retiring items. Best Catch is one of my all time favorite masculine stamp sets and I am VERY sad that it is retiring!  This is one that I just can't part with!
My son, Hunter, is an avid fisherman and is currently going crazy not being able to fish.  We are hopeful that our stay home orders will be lifted on May 5th and that fishing will reopen.  In the meantime, Hunter has been organizing and reorganizing all of his fishing gear while he waits.  A few weeks ago, one of his teachers called and told him that he had some fishing gear that he was getting rid of and asked him to come take a look.  My kid came home with a HUGE duffle bag FULL of fishing gear.  His day was made, as was his teachers!  I love the fishing/hunting bond that they share and am sad that this will be his last year getting to see this teacher.  But I know that they will stay in touch to share their fishing and hunting stories!

Hunter asked me to make a thank you card for him to take to his teacher, along with his favorite Dairy Queen treat.  Today's sketch was perfect for his request!
Using my Stampin' Blends, I did my best to create a Salmon...my son said I nailed it.  I'll take that as a mom WIN!

Supplies Used:
Paper ~ Soft Sea Foam, Cajun Craze, Whisper White
Ink ~ VersaMark, Memento, Stampin' Blends:  Pool Party, Soft Sea Foam, Petal Pink, Cajun Craze, Smoky Slate
Stamp Sets ~ Best Catch, Free As A Bird, Crackle Paint
Other Supplies ~ Catch of the Day Dies, Silver Metallic Thread, Frosted & Clear Epoxy Droplets, Subtle Embossing Folder

I'm not sure what I'm going to do without my Silver Metallic Thread either...I use this on EVERYTHING!  But I know that there are several new things coming our way that will help me find the "silver" lining!

Have a terrific Tuesday!

Happy Stamping!

Thankful for the Catch of the Day

Happy Thursday stampers!  What a week it has been!  My contract year started back up on Tuesday and getting back in to work mode after having almost 8 weeks off is kicking my booty.  I am ready for the weekend and am wishing we were back at the lake.
Our family, along with 8 other fire department families, spent last week at Yale Lake.  The weather was cooler and cloudier than years past, but that didn't keep us from swimming, boating and fishing.  My twins and their friend spent most of their time fishing from the dock or out on the boat in hopes of catching a Kokanee.  They didn't have any luck in the Kokanee department, but they did catch quite a few Squawfish.
Gary, the owner of the property (and dear friend) we stayed on was kind enough to take the boys out on the boat several times.  He was so patient with them!  They may not have caught a big Kokanee, but they still had so much fun.  A thank you card was a must after all Gary and his wife Mary did for all of us!

I used the Well Written Dies to create the Thank You sentiment.  I cut 3 of each word out and layered them to give a bit more dimension.  The High Seas 3D embossing folder was just the right background for the big fishy!  I added a bit more texture to the card with the Subtle 3D embossing folder...I think I use this EF on EVERY card I make these days!
Supplies Used:
Paper ~ Smoky Slate, Cajun Craze, Mint Macaron, Vellum
Ink ~ Memento, Stampin' Blends:  Old Olive, Mint Macaroon, Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, Seaside Spray, Bronze
Stamp Set ~ Best Catch
Other Supplies ~ Well Written Dies, Catch of the Day Dies, High Seas and Subtle 3D Embossing Folders

We were lucky enough to have one day of brief sunshine, allowing us to see the beautiful Mt. St. Helens.  It was such a relaxing trip and something we all look forward to every year!

Happy Stamping!

#tgifc192 Product Spotlight ~ Glossy Card Stock

Can you believe this is the last TGIF Challenges for 2018?!?!?  Where has the year gone?  I am grateful for a year full of fun adventures, many of which were with my stamping and TGIF friends.  I hope 2019 is full of many more adventures and memories!
For our final challenge, we are putting Glossy Card Stock in the spotlight.  Do you use this paper very often?
Not only is today our last challenge of 2018, it is also my dads very last day of work!  Later this afternoon he will officially be retired and I couldn't be more happy for him!  The Glossy Card Stock was perfect in creating a "splashy" background for the amazing new Best Catch stamp set in the 2019 Occasions Catalog.  Check out a little tutorial below to see how I created this fun background.
Supplies Used:
Paper ~ Mossy Meadow, Whisper White, Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, Glossy
Ink ~ Balmy Blue, Pear Pizzazz, Old Olive, Memento, Stampin' Blends:  Mossy Meadow, Pool Party, Cajun Craze, Crumb Cake
Stamp Set ~ Best Catch, Itty Bitty Greetings
Other Supplies ~ Catch of the Day Thinlits, Linen Thread, Spritzer

To create the background on the Glossy Card Stock, I used a silicon mat, stamp pads and spritzer.
I inked up the silicon mat, randomly smearing the 3 different ink colors around, then spritzed it generously with my spritzer.  I then placed the inked side on top of the Glossy Card Stock and gently "smooshed" it around.

When you remove the silicon mat, you are left with a fun "splashy" background!
This is such a fun technique and one that isn't too messy to try in class.  It's always fun to see all of the different patterns and shades that are created by your customers!

Thank you for stopping by today!  I can't wait to see how all of you use the Glossy Paper too!

Happy Stamping!
