Mother of the Year?

Today I got a call from James' school, just minutes after I dropped him off, telling me that James had no shoes on.  How in the world did that happen?

Random Happenings

I'm trying to enjoy the quiet before the birthdays, more holidays, other events make us busy again.  But I still want to record the little randomness that occurs in our home.

A few weeks ago Henry tried his first food!  All of my boys have enjoyed their first taste of rice cereal but they have made awful faces as they've adjusted to the new taste and texture.  Henry, as is typical, was all smiles--not even a grimace from this happy little boy.

He did get a little distracted by his big brothers though!

James was rather curious about what exactly his baby brother was eating... so I suggested that he taste a little bit.  Usually when I make these suggestions I am promptly denied.  However, James actually took me up on it!  He said it was good... and it tasted like rice.

William is such a great helper with Henry... and especially loves to get him out of his crib and bring him down to me.  It is so nice not to have to run upstairs!

In the past several months William has also turned into quite a little ham.  I don't know what changed but he is really silly... especially in front of the camera.

A few weeks ago Rich had a seminary training down in Norman. I always dread Saturdays when Rich is away... I really look forward to his help with the boys and spending time as a family.  Instead of trying to keep myself sane around the house I decided to take the boys to the zoo.  Thankfully it was beautiful weather that day... so it worked out perfectly!

One last bit of randomness.  Rich has been playing the guitar more at night (and banjo and mandolin) and Henry loves to play too.  I think I have a picture like this for each of the boys!  I love that my boys love music like Rich and I!

ps.  Isn't Henry just the sweetest?

New Year's Eve

Rich was invited to go to a Thunder game with his dad on New Year's Eve so he and I had an early dinner out.  It was nice to be out on a date.  On the car ride home Alexander fell asleep so the rest of the boys and I had a quiet New Year's celebration.  It has become a little tradition of ours to have fondue on New Year's Eve. The boys weren't so sure about it... but how can you go wrong with chocolate dipped marshmallows?  They loved it!

After we were stuffed full of chocolate goodness we put together some legos and then we headed outside to throw some poppers.  It was fun to hear them shout "Happy New Year" as they threw poppers to the ground.  And since they don't pay attention to the time I put them to bed by 9:00 and enjoyed a few hours to myself before Rich came home!  I know people like to go to parties on New Year's Eve... but a quiet night at home was the perfect night for me.

Great Wolf Lodge

For Christmas Rich and I decided to gift ourselves a family vacation.  So a few days after Christmas we packed up the van and took a drive down to the Great Wolf Lodge.

The boys were really excited to go and were great little travelers!  Alex slept most of the way... perfect!  And Henry was awesome on his first road trip.

We splurged for the Kids Camp room.  This meant that the boys had their own little room with bunk beds and a tv.

Once we got into our room we headed down to the waterpark.  The boys had a blast!  They loved the lazy river and wave pool the best.  James really liked the slides.  We played for a few hours--until dinner.  Henry was exhausted and promptly fell asleep on the bed while the big boys warmed up in the tub.

all my boys love to sleep with their eyes partly open

After dinner we headed back down to play until the waterpark closed.  By the end of the night we were all exhausted!  We settled down with a snack and a movie.

After a quick breakfast the next morning we headed down for one more time in the water.  It was such a quick trip but we had a blast!  The boys can't wait until we can go again!
