Art by Mi Ran - Merry Christmas

Hi all!!

Today is my turn to host the Art by Mi Ran blog, and I made a project with Lady Penelope! You can find the image here. The image is not specifically for Christmas, but since our theme this month is Christmas with untraditional colors, I decided to make her into a Christmas card.

The paper I used for my card is from PaperMania, except from the pink paper with the white dots. I made that piece myself, using some Dutch Doobadoo structure paste and one of their masks. The large pink diecut on top of my card is made with a die from Noor Design.
I used my Copic Markers to color Lady Penelope, and I used the following.
Skin: E000, E00, E11, E13 and E93 for blush.
Hair: E11, E08, E09, E18
Dress: R81, R83, R85, R89
Gloves, Eyes and trim: B91, B93, B95
The sentiment is also made with a die from Noor Design. I cut it once from pink card stock, and once from kraft cardstock, and layered them on top of eachother
To finish off my card I punched some snowflakes with my Martha Stewart punch, and added some bling in the centers!

I hope I was able to inspire you again. Thanks for your visit, and hope to see you next time!

Crea-Sandra's Crafty Tutorial World - Making clouds behind a colored image

Hi all!

Today I would like to show you how to make a background of clouds behind your colored image.

Supplies:
Image from Robyn's Fetish - Play Ball (printed twice)
Removable adhesive
Distress Ink Tumbled Glass
Paint Brush
Cloud template. I used a die from MFT, but you could also hand draw it)
Coloring medium of your choice ( I used Copic Markers)
Other supplies to finish your card, like papers and embellishments

Color one of your images the way you want.
Copic Markers used:
Skin: E00, E11, E13
Hair and bat: E23, E25, E27
Clothes: W00, W0, W2, W5
BG72, BG75, BG78
R24, R27, R29
Grass: YG91, YG93, YG95, YG97, YG99

This is how my colored image looks. Also make sure you cut down your paper to the size you want to use on your project.

Take your second image and cut it out. If there are any parts that have to be cut out (like between the legs), it is the easiest to do this first.

Trim your image, and coat the back with a removable adhesive.

Mask off your image by covering it with the second image. As you can see the grass ins't covered but that is no problem at all.

Cut your cloud template.

Take your template and put it on your image. Always start from the bottom and work upwards. Take your brush and pick up some ink.

Start sponging by tapping your brush along the edge of your cloud template.

This is how the first part looks. It is quite hard to see now because there is not so much ink, but the further you go, the better you can see.

Take your template a little bit higher, and sponge again with your brush. Always pick up ink before starting sponging.
Your template is not symmetric, neither are clouds. Take another part of the template, or put your template on a slight angle for different shapes.
Always make sure you do small sections, so the first part I did was the lower left side, below the bat. Once that area is finished you can start with a new area.

Start sponging in the new section, and just start at the lowest point and work your way up.

Now the complete left side is finished, except the part above his hat. You always have to start at the bottom, so now we are starting in the lower right area.

This is the finished piece.

Gently peel off your mask.

Here is how the finished image looks. Quite nice, right?

Here's my finished card.

This was my tutorial, I hope you like it. It is an easy way to give something more to your colored image.

See you next time!

Digi Haven DT - Baby, it's cold outside!

Hi all!

Welcome to the first Digi Haven Challenge of 2014! Where I live, the weather is really soft, almost like spring, but I understand the US is freezing! That is why this fortnight's theme is perfect!
Our theme is BABY, IT'S COLD OUTSIDE!
We also have a fabulous sponsor for this challenge, Bugaboo! Bugaboo is offering 7 images of the winner's choice, isn't that generous! Just click on the banner below to go to their shop!

Bugaboo also generously provided some images to the DT to wirk with, and this is what I created.
I made a big rectangle card, measuring 4.5 x 6 inches. The papers I used are by PaperMania, and were in my stash for ages. They are 12x12 and I rarely use those. I really like them, so I have to use them more often! Let me show you a close-up of the colored image.
Like I said, the image is by Bugaboo and is called Marshamellow Snowmen. You can buy the image here.
The image is colored with my Copic Markers and I used the following markers.
E33, E35, E37, B000, B01, RV21, RV23 and BG0000
I added some Frosty Lace Stickles to the snow and I added some Glossy Accents on the highlite of the snowglobe.
The sentiment I used is by AmyR, and I think it fits our theme perfectly! I used Versafine Onyx Black ink to stamp it. The edges of the papers I used are inked with Distress Ink Vintage Photo.
I used some pink ribbon from my stash and tied it in a bow. I added a snowflake charm to finish it, and I also used some selfadhesive pearls from my stash.

That was it for today, I hope you like it. Now pop over to Digi Haven and join us!

ABC Ransom Blog Hop

Welcome to the ABC Ransom Blog Hop,
hosted by Red Carpet Studio!

If you've come fromTara's blog, you're in the right place.

The Red Carpet Studio designers thought it would be fun to host a mystery blog hop while showcasing projects that can be made using all those leftover letters in your stash - hence where the "ransom" comes in. Ransom notes play a huge role in mystery/suspense films, and are often created out of random letters cut from magazines, newspapers, etc. in order to disguise handwriting.

While we won't be doing any kidnapping or holding anybody ransom today - we do have some creative projects to share with you!

For my project using leftover letters in my stash, I created...

I have tons and tons of leftover letters, from the time I used to scrapbook, and those X'es never finish... There are only a few Dutch words including an X, like ex or sax (saxophone) and both weren't the thing I was scrapping about.
But then, I had a lightbulb, X is from X-mas!!! Not a Dutch word, but everybody knows what this means, and since Christmas is coming up soon it was perfect!
The X is a chipboard letter and I used some Papermania papers to cover it up. The edges are inked with Distress Ink Walnut Stain.
I used an imaga by Magnolia, and I forgot to make a close-up picture. She is colored with my Copic Markers and I used the following.
Skin: E0000, E000, E00, E11, R20
Hair: E35, E37, E29
Clothes: W3, W5, W7, R27, R29, W00, W0, W1.
These are leftover letters from 3 different thickersets, but they really match well together!
I also used some pearls from my stash and some twine.
Last but not least I arranged a typical "Sandra" flowerbouquet, totally my style, you can find it back on a lot of my projects.

We're also holding some blog candy ransom! However, the blog candy is hidden, and only certain stops of the hop are hiding it. The only way you can win is if you comment on those blogs! Now, we're not going to tell you whose blogs those are (that would be too easy) but we will tell you what the prizes are!
$20 Gift Certificate

$10 Gift Certificate
$10 Gift Certificate

There will be three winners. Please make sure to leave your contact information when commenting so we can contact you if you win. You have until next Saturday, November 3rd, to hop and comment. Winners will be announced with the start of our next layout challenge on Sunday November 4th at Red Carpet Studio.

And don't forget to check out this week's challenge at Red Carpet Studio! Our challenge this week is inspired by "It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" and the challenge is to create any fall or Halloween card.

Your next stop is Georgie's blog.

P.S. My letters are...

E

If you can put all the letters together from each stop of the hop (they're in order), you have a chance to win a mystery prize! Once you've figured out our hidden message, email it to redcarpetstudiochallenge@gmail.com. The mystery prize winner will be announced with the other winners on Sunday November 4th. HINT: The message is a clue as to what our next layout challenge will be. :)

Happy Hopping!

Hugs Sandra
