Jersey Shore
I grew up on the Jersey Shore and was quite dismayed to see a Hurricane with my name make landfall in my hometown area! I was looking through photos and found these pics I had taken back in the early 70's and thought I would make a 12" x 12"scrapbook page for them. This is Brant Beach on Long Beach Island where I spent many happy summer days.
Behind each of the photos, I placed a Nautical Wheeler Doily to which I added a bit of Distress ink. Using my Dotties's Ric Rac I created borders to mount the bottom portion of the Homeward Bound frame. I added Flower Soft to each of the cattails as well as a bit of Distress ink. (Thank you, Jodi, for the idea to use just the reeds and cattails) I used my Lower Case Lace Script alphabet for the words. When I was a kid and learning to draw, I always called seagulls in the sky "M birds" as they looked like part of the letter "m". So that is how I created the birds for my layout; I die cut the lower case "m" and then trimmed out my bird, lol.

Cheery Lynn Designs New Release and Corner Adorners Challenge
I have two projects for Cheery Lynn Designs today. We have a new release as well as the weekly challenge. First my new release project I did a 12 x 12 inch layout.....
My friend, Cathy went to Hawaii this summer and this is a picture she took of a Frangipani. Using the new Hawaiian Luau Doily I framed the image. Using my Mega Sunflower Doily as a backdrop, I added 6 Frangipani blossoms and leaves. I also added some branches from the Embellishments #2 die.
Look at the wonderful detail on the doily! For the centers of my flowers, I used the new Expandable Quilling Strip die, winding up a coil with my quilling tool. I also created the little curly cues with the quilling strips The border across the bottom was created with the new Expandable Tiny Borders die. Finished size is 12 x 12 inches.
This week's Cheery Lynn Designs challenge is Corner Adorners, you must use a corner embellishment.
For my tent card I used my Horizon Coved Rectangle Mega Doily and my Silver Coved Rectangle dies to create the image panel. These cute Pumpkins are new from Karen's Doodles. I use my Lace Corner Deco H dies to cut the corner spider webs. Finished size is 5 x 7 inches.

Happy Holiday
For
my project today, I am using the red poinsettias that I did not use
last week. I think this would make a great front page to a holiday
scrapbook or even a greeting for your front door. I began with my Mega Italian Flourish Doily as a base for my flowers. I added my six Poinsettia 2 flowers then created 6 white flowers using the leaves from the new Build a Flower 2
set. I was going to add holly but I thought it might be too much with
all the holly in the patterned paper. Instead I added white Mini Fanciful Flourish
which really worked perfectly with the flourishes in the DP. I added
some orange Stickles to the centers of the flowers. To create the
words, I used my Lace Script Letter H and the matching Lowercase Lace Script dies. This is a 12x12 inch page.

Cheery Lynn Designs Challenge 42 - Anything Goes
The challenge this week at Cheery Lynn Designs is Anything Goes. As promised in my last post for Cheery Lynn, I have used the new Chicken Wire Frame die to create a panel 6 x 12 inches with no seams. I will show you the trick to doing this. After you cut the first section (and each section after that) turn the paper over and line up the die in the frame. Now this is the really important part, when you put this in your machine, you want to start where the die meets the last cut and cut towards the uncut paper. If you cut the other direction, the paper will stretch just enough to mess up your original cut. (Took me a few pieces of card stock to figure that out!) You can do this same technique with the new Honeycomb die as well.

Cats Layout with Cheery Lynn Designs dies
Continuing
my journey into scrapbook layouts (this is number 3), I found a really
cool sketch over at Sketchabilities and decided to give it a try.
While hunting through my box of very unorganized photos, I found these
from a day many years ago when my cats and I went for a walk in the
field behind us. They fit the sketch perfectly. Left to right they are Skunk, Spooky and Boots. They have long gone on to the Rainbow Bridge but they brightened my life immensely and I think this is a lovely tribute.

Love
I am here with you today with another try at a scrapbook page; the photo is from my best friend's daughter's first wedding anniversary. Aren't they a lovely couple? To create the great frame around the photo I used my Horizon Coved Rectangle Mega Doily dies. I die cut the frame, then centered the next smallest die over the back of the photo and hand trimmed the corners. I used a Mega Tea Party Doily as a backdrop for my flowers. I created the largest flower by layering from the top: stamens from Build a Flower #1, Judy's Blooms (smallest flower) and two Stacker Flower 6 die cuts. The other two flowers are stamens on top of both of the flowers from Judy's Blooms. I used my Mega Fanciful Flourish for the greenery. To create the word "love" I die cut the letters using my Lace Script Lower Case alphabet set. The designer paper is from the K&Company Bailey paper collection. Finished size is 12 x 12 inches.
You still have time to enter the Wedding/Anniversary challenge on the Cheery Lynn Designs challenge blog. In addition to a $20 shopping spree at Cheery Lynn Designs, we will be giving away a Big Shot die cut machine to one of this month's entries. So why not join in on the fun.

Balloon Fest Layout
For my Cheery Lynn Designs post today, I decided to step way out of my comfort zone and try a 12 x 12 inch scrap book page. The hard part was finding subject matter; I have no family but thought this great photo from the Michigan Challenge Balloonfest a few years ago might work. At the end of the evening as the sun goes down, the balloons inflate but stay on the ground and do a glow. It is so beautiful to see 20 or more balloons with their colors all aglow! I decided to approach my page as if it were just a really big card. I chose this great designer paper from The Paper Loft in keeping with this week's Red, White and Blue challenge. Be sure to check it out, we are giving away a Big Shot at the end of the month in addition to the weekly prize.
