More Fun with Zentangles

I took another Zentangle class with Sheryl Lamarand at the Green Door in Brighton on Sunday.  We learned all about Celtic Knots.  After practicing a few simple ones in pencil, we moved over to Micron Pen and created the one above.  Everyone else filled in the last two figure eights with the Sunburn pattern, but I chose to leave mine open.  I have not decided if I will add another pattern or not.  This is about 5 1/2 inches square.

I also completed another Zendala.  This was inspired by one I saw on Facebook from Lily's Tangles.  It is entirely hand drawn and I added some color with Prismacolor pencils and Gamasol.  This is a 4 5/8" circle.

I am still amazed at how much I enjoy making these.

Zendala Class

I took a Zendala class today at The Green Door Studio, taught by Sheryl Lamarand, Certified Zentangle Teacher.  It was a lot of fun and I look forward to the next class in April.  We began with a prestrung Zendala tile, the basic outline is printed on the tile in light gray as shown below on the right and then we filled in all the open areas with various Zentangles.

The new Zentangles we learned today were: Betweed, Echoism, Rick's Paradox, Mooka, Ahhh, Knightsbridge, Wheels and Zingers.  I used a 0.1 and 0.5 Black Micron pen and then shading was added with a pencil and a blending stump.  I am very pleased for my first try at a Zendala.  Although I am very anal, I truly enjoy this craft.  I want to try another one but do it in color rather than black and white.  Stay tuned, lol!

Autumn Blessings

I 'Tangled' some pumpkins and decided to make them into a card.  I drew the pumpkins and then added my tangles in the pumpkin sections.  I used a Micron Pen for the sketching and dark shading then added some soft shading with a pencil and a rubbing stub.

After I finished the pumpkins, I went in search of paper and was pleased to see I had some that mimicked my tangles.  It is from the Doodlebug Halloween Parade collection.  I added a Horizon Fishtail Banner and Blessings die cut from Cheery Lynn Designs.  Finished size is 6" square.

More Zentangle Fun

About a month ago, I took a private Zentangle class with CZT Sheryl Lamarand in East Lansing.  Here are the two Tangles we did...........

When I got home from class, I tried another on my own.  I used a pre-strung tile for the one below.
My online Zentangle class started at My Creative Classroom yesterday and this was my first homework assignment.
These really are a lot of fun.

My First Zentangle

I am going to take a Zentangle class online from Marie Browning at My Creative Classroom.  The art of Zentangle has always intrigued me and this is the perfect chance to learn.  I was able to find a local supplier and instructor here in mid-Michigan and stopped by to get my supplies.  Imagine my surprise to find out that "pre-strung circle tiles" were not circles with a hole and string on them.  They are actually tiles with starter patterns on them, lol.  So using one of the pre-strung regular tiles (it is 3 inches square), I tried to do my first Zentangle.  Not too bad for winging it, lol.  I am truly anal so it is hard for me to do things that are not perfectly symmetrical and even.  I look forward to class starting and learning the proper way to 'Tangle.

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to sign up for my $600 Blog Candy giveaway to celebrate my 1000th blog post. Be sure to tell your friends.
