Now, here’s my card

SkiingSnowman

For my card, I used this fun Skiing Snowman digi…too cute right?! He’s colored with Copics and some Sakura white gel pen.

For my background I stamped some of my ‘rubber’ CHF images, Christmas Expressions and Joyeux Noel. The snowflakes were stamped with Versamark and heat embossed with Ranger Holographic and Antique Gold embossing powder, then sponged with Distress ink for some emboss resist.

I thought he’d look cute flying down the slopes… I tore strips of cardstock and laid them at an angle on my base, then trimmed the edges even.

SkiingSnowman snow

All the edges have Icicle Stickles just like glistening snow!

SkiingSnowman side

A Little Bird Told Me…..

RobinRose blk

Cornish Heritage Farms is back under new ownership and having a Grand Re-0pening tomorrow with a blog hop!

If you missed my first post about CHF, that’s where I got my start on a design team! Lots of memories!

RobinRose

I love birds, so when I saw this digi I had to have it! I’m calling it simply, Robin. Right now the images have a number but I’m sure will have names once the store is up and running!
It’s colored with Copics, sponged with Distress inks. The layer the Robin is on it just white cardstock that I drug my Distress ink pad over.

RobinRose clsup

The rose is Spellbinders Spiral Blossom 1. I didn’t want the tulle to be so stark white, so I just used a Copic close in color to the DP and ‘dirtied’ it up a bit! I also hit the ribbon and tulle lightly with my heat tool to distress them. Oh, and the leaves are Spellbinders Shadow Flowers. The DP is DCWV Mirabelle.

See you at the Hop tomorrow!

Another CHF Peek!

Poinsettia clsup

The Grand Re-Opening of Cornish Heritage Farms is just a couple of days away! Here is another peek at one of the digis that will be available.

BTW….not all CHF stamps will be digis, but with soooo many images, over 2000!… Tanya decided what doesn’t go to rubber will become digital. Cool!

Poinsettia

I’m going to call this one Jingle Bells Poinsettia, it’s colored with Copics and sponged with Distress ink. The base is embossed with Holly Ribbons and that twill is some I’ve had forevah, probably from Michaels or Joann’s.

One more Christmas card down…. how many more to go??!!!

Don’t forget to stop by CHF now and pick up several digis that are on sale and were just featured in Scrap & Stamp magazine! You can read all about it on the CHF blog.

Thanks for stopping!

Seems I’ve Come Full Circle!

TopHatSnowman blk

Way back in 2007 I was accepted on my very first design team, Cornish Heritage Farms. I had a good time, made new friends and learned sooo much! I eventually went on to other DT’s and the owners decided to sell the company.

Fast forward a few years….

I was contacted a few weeks back about making some samples for the Grand Re-opening of CHF! Wow! Really?! Sure!!

TopHatSnowman

This is one of the digitals that will soon be available. I’m calling it Top Hat Snowman (as he just has a # right now). The sentiment is from an older set called, Joyeux Noel.
He’s colored with Copics and a little white gel pen. I put some Blizzard Mudd Puddles  on for fun too!

TopHatSnowman side

The next card is a free digi Tanya offered this week! Flower Wheel Barrow.  How cool is that! Check out the CHF blog too for another special!

Here’s a card I did using the digi.

Fall Wheelbarrow

I made it ‘Fallish’, colored with Copics, sponged with Distress ink. I sent it as a ‘thinking of you/get well’ to my hay man who just got out of the hospital. Perfect for a farmer!

Fall Wheelbarrow side

We’ll be having a blog hop this Saturday, November 19 to kick off the Grand Re-opening!! Hope to see you then!

Lilacs and Butterflies

Today's Featured Stamper on SCS is an old, dear friend...one of the first ones I got acquainted with on SCS...Vicky. This is the card I did today...thanks Vicky!

I don't know if you have this problem taking pictures of some colors, but purples give me fits! I tried so many different areas and settings on my camera and still couldn't get the exact colors of the card! If you looked at my SCS upload, it's dark... then I took it in another window here... better........oh well!

I chose this card of Vicky's. I really didn't change a lot, colors slightly and stamp images from other companies. I stepped it up a bit with Nestabilities.

Flourishes Lilac Set and Gina K's Take Flight were colored with Copic markers. I fingerwalked over Spanish Script by Cornish Heritage Farms (ink up background image and have it face up, take your paper and carefully lay on top and lightly "walk" your fingers here and there). Distress inks were lightly sponged around the lilac and edges. I stamped the butterfly head and antennae on the piece with the lilac so when I cut out the colored butterfly I wouldn't have to worry about those thin pieces! The butterfly is attached at the body only with the wings slightly bent up.

recipe:

stamps: flourishes lilac set & siberian iris (tag sentiment), gina k designs take flight, cornish heritage farms spanish script, su itty bitty backgrounds

ink: adirondack pitch black, latte by ranger, scattered straw, shabby shutters by ranger

paper: georgia pacific white, pure luxury brilliant white, prism wizard lt/dk, herbal garden lt

other stuff: spellbinder's curved rectangles, cuttlebug embossing folders, copic markers, foam mounting squares, ribbon

Do You Love Garage Sales?

Waving my hand in the air here!! I sure do love to find goodies at garage sales!!
Heather is having a garage sale, so head on over!!

As part of our CCEE challenge today, we were to use a set from H&M. This is from the ATV set. All the guys in my family love to take the 4 wheelers and head south to the trails! This set will also be fun for the grandkids too. I also used some scenery from Cornish Heritage Farms.

I stamped the 4 wheeler first and stamped it again on another piece of cs and set it aside. Then I filled in the scene and colored it with Prismacolor pencils blended with baby oil.

Don't be afraid to shape your clear stamps! Have fun with sentiments, make them suit your theme! I just made mine look hilly by shaping it on the acrylic block and stamping!

Once I had the scene how I wanted it, I cut around the extra stamped image, cut it out and mounted it with dimensionals over the first one. I added some shadow with a Copic marker.

Be sure to stop by out CCEE blog and see what the other girls did with H&M and don't forget the Garage Sale!!

Somedays Are Just Like That...

It's taken me all day to get my card done for the Color Challenge on SCS! The llamas expected to be fed and watered (actually, I wanted to get it done early as we were forecasted to have nasty weather coming!)

Several of the "grown" kids stopped by, the phone seemed to never quit ringing, the dogs wanted out...in....out...in.... and of course I had to make something for dinner!

Ahhhh, so, now I'm ready for a cup of tea and a little relaxing!

Ok, so here is the card I did today. It uses "new to me" stamps, and even a sneak peek at one coming the 28th from CHF. (I know, I'm not on the DT anymore...but I really liked these stamps!!)

I stamped "Fly Fishing" on glossy, colored it with Copic markers, went over the fisherman and fish with my Versamarker then a coat of clear EP.

I stamped "Ground Cover" (the sneak peek) in the lower left corner and colored it with Copics. I tore some scratch paper to sort of mask the lower left corner and the area behind the fisherman, then using my brayer, rolled Aqua first over the fisherman (being embossed it resisted the ink) then rolled Denim over that. Then I spritzed Simple Green over the brayered part and blotted it dry. What a cool look for the water.

My brayer went a little tooooo far up in the upper left corner, so I stamped more Ground Cover there and around the fisherman coloring again with Copics. I finished it off by sponging Aqua in the remaining space.

The sentiment is from Vintage Butterflies and I made the "lure" with wire, some frayed ribbon, a couple feathers and a straight pin with the point cut off....and real fishing line!

Super cool masculine card!

recipe:
stamps from Cornish Heritage Farms
Fly Fishing, Vintage Butterflies, Ground Cover

ink: adirondack pitch black, aqua, denim

paper: glossy, prism intense kiwi, island mist dk, georgia pacific white (dtp with aqua ink)

other: spellbinders labels 1&2, copic markers, photo corners, versamarker, clear ep, dauber, dimensionals, fishing line, wire, bead, ribbon, feather, pin, pliars, fiskars slot punch

Chick No More

It's been just over a year that Liz, of Cornish Heritage Farms, called me and told me I was one of the "Fresh Faces Design Team"! It's been a great year!
I've loved it, made some great friends and learned a lot! I'm thankful I had the opportunity!!

When I was notified that my contract would not be renewed for a second term, I chose to end my contract early. We have parted ways under the best of terms, but I suddenly find myself without a team and so if anyone hears of any openings, calls or just needs me to do some free lance stuff, will you please shoot me an email?

Thanks for stopping!

It's A Watercolor Challenge!

Our Chick's Challenge today is watercoloring. There are so many ways, watercolor pencils, watercolor cakes, watercolor sheets, smooshing (that's a technical term) the lid of your ink pad into your pad to pick up color.......you really have no excuse to not try it sometime *wink*

For mine, I used Adirondack reinkers and a waterbrush. I love to watercolor! I can't wait to see what the other girls did. Just click on their names to see.

Julia Kim Joanne Michele Jennifer Sherrie

I was soooo tired of Christmas cards or anything Wintery! So I did this...............

I actually started with the 3 Curved Rectangle Nestie pieces that were already stamped and leftover from some previous project...you know the pieces just sitting off to the side, that "one day I'll use that" pile! They just looked "out-doorsy" and seaside to me.
And of course you know I love to MAKE A SCENE! haha...get it? make a...er..uh...nevermind...

Beacon of Hope and the gull from Bird Sampler were my choices. And for my background on the card base............can I tell you how much I LOVE THIS NEW PICOTAGE PRINT!! Sneak Peek here *wink*, this will be available the end of the month. I stamped it in Hazelnut then sponged Tea Dye, Vintage Photo and Brushed Corduroy around the edges. Hmmmm, even those ink names fit my scene today!

I hope I've inspired you to try this technique, you're always welcome to join us on any of the challenges too!

My God, My Strength Glass Block

I've been dieing to do a glass block with the new Scene It! sets from Cornish Heritage Farms, and finally got one done. I used Mountains for this one. It's watercolored with reinkers using Fantastix, a dense foam 'pencil' like tool by Tsukineko.
Sorry, but I haven't been able to get a good dark picture with the lights on. The lights are on in the block in this photo, but the room is also lit. (clear as mud?)

If you'd like to see how I do these, here are some previous posts.

As always.........Thanks for stopping!

Soooo Many Backgrounders!

My challenge project today takes in several challenges in one. First, our Chick's Challenge is to use Backgrounders. CHF has a gazillion with new ones being released each month! Whew! At last count I own 44 of them! *SHOCK*

Second is my CCEE challenge I do with some friends on SCS. We got it easy today....we just had to use blue and have brads on our card.

And third, the Featured Stamper on SCS.

I chose to mask this bird from Bird Sampler and stamp Pine Needles & Cones over it, then used Copic markers to color the needles and pine cones.

The large panel is stamped with Wood Grain, one of my favorite backgrounders for sure! And one of the sentiments from Christmas Expressions.

I extended the upper left side of the branches with a fine tip pen to better fit my design. Kind of a different look for a Christmas card, but I like it!

Be sure to see how the other Chicks used Backgrounders, just click on the names.

A Very Fine Line!

Jessica, owner/designer of There She Goes, contacted me several months ago about my signature line on SCS asking if she could make it into a stamp! What FUN is that!!

So, here's my line....There is a very fine line between hobby and mental illness...I'm sure my family would agree on that one!

I tried to make it look like this woman had a SERIOUS hobby going on here! Eleven backgrounders from Cornish Heritage Farms were used, Copics, Nestabilities, Primas, Ribbon, Dimensionals, Gel pens, Brad, Pattern Paper.... Fun, right?!

You can see some more of these clever tag lines on Jessica's blog

Hope everyone has recovered from overeating and shopping!! Have a wonderful weekend.

Kindness Is Like The Snow...

It beautifies everything it covers. How true is that!

This is the Stamp Of The Month for December at Cornish Heritage Farms, Fir Branch and Kindness.

I stamped Spanish Script in Vintage Photo then stamped the Fir Branch in 3 colors of distress ink, Shabby Shutters, Peeled Paint and Pine Needles. Antique Linen and Vintage Photo were sponged around the edges.

To make the sentiment label, I used Nestabilities Small Labels and kept moving the gold paper around in the die until I got the paper to the right size! The sentiment is stamped in pigment ink and embossed with clear EP.

It looked nice without the Flower Soft added for snow, but I really like how it gives the look of freshly fallen snow!

This quote is one that could be kept up all year long! Sorry the picture isn't better, it was really hard with the gold paper and embossing. Trust me...it's really pretty *wink*

Getting Wordy....

Julia challenged us Chicks today to use 'big/little' words, together or separately. I had a card done that I was going to use for this, but after seeing the TLC on SCS this morning, I did a 180! Here's a video you can watch so you too can make these fun gift card holders!

I'm sorry I don't have time to put the indivdual links for each of the Chicks doing the challenge today...our internet keeps cutting out...GRRRRR...and I'm expecting my grand daughter any moment while mommy goes to the doctor to see if she has strep...owie!

You can find the links on the sidebar under the Design Team.
Carole -Kim -Joanne -Lesley -Michele

My oldest son and DIL are building a house and have requested gift cards from Home Depot or Lowes for their December birthdays.

I used Thomas Kinkade's Masculine series paper along with Everyday Petites, both from Cornish Heritage Farms. In just a few minutes this was done! Don't you just love projects like that!!

Well, Jorden is here...the net has cut out once already while I was typing this...so I'd better go while I still have power!

Ornamental Set

A friend of ours is sending a "Thinking Of You At This Time of Year" box of cards to a friend's son and his squad overseas.

I wanted something cheery, yet easy to mass produce! This new backgrounder, Ornamental Vines, worked out perfectly in Red Pepper!

Christmas Expressions fancied up with some Liquid Pearls and a little ribbon tucked in behind, and my set is ready to pack!

I hope each and every card brings a touch of "home" when all these who serve our country are away from their loved ones at Christmas!

Today I'm off to Rockway Elementary to demo spinning to a class of 1st graders. I've been doing this for 5 or 6 yrs now, always around Thanksgiving. It's always fun! I never think to take my camera, but today I will and hopefully Mrs. Cory will be able to get some good shots for me.

As always.....Thanks for stopping!

Sakura Chicks Challenge

I think I reach for some sort of Sakura pen more often than not...whether it be a white, stardust---oooh, sparklay!.. the glue pen or the glaze ones. I admit I haven't used the glaze ones so much, only because they sit just out of my reach...........DUH..............MOOOOOOOOOVE them closer Dawn! (I had to say it before one of you did! LOL)

Be sure to see how the other girls used their pens. Just click on their names..oooh...ahhh...it's magic! Julia ~ Carole ~ Kim ~ Michele
Prepare to be WoWed!!

Here's the card I did using my white and stardust pens.

I colored the image from the new "Mountains" set that releases tomorrow, Tuesday the 18th, with Copic markers. Then I put in snowy highlights with the Sakura pens.

I tried all sorts of colored cardstock to mat my image, but none of them looked "right" to me, so I just used white and colored it with the same Copic marker used on the water in the image! Then it needed a little defining, so I lightly went around the edge with a black marker and did the faux stitching on the mat and sentitment (from Beacon of Hope) using the white gel pen again.

Now, the rest of the day for me...I have Leah (my 3yr old grand daughter) for a while this morning. Then later this afternoon, one of my favorite places to go.......................NOT!!!... the dentist, ugh!

Have a wonderful Monday! (we're getting more snow!! it's beautiful outside!!)

November SNOWstorm!

Ok, so maybe it's not a storm...but it's really coming down out there!! I had to snap a few pics and now I'm FREEZING!! It was nice of Mother Nature to put down some "white stuff" for this card I did today for the DD Sketch on Splitcoast!

The tree is from Forest of Trees by Flourishes, the sentiment from Christmas Expressions by Cornish Heritage Farms.
Colored with Copics, sponged with Distress inks.

And here is my winter wonderland....I do really LOVE snow!!

Makes you want to go heat some water and make some Chai or Hot Chocolate...hey! Not a bad idea!!

Hope you're having a great Saturday...

A Sneak, A Peek and a Sketch

If you love scenes or even just the great outdoors, you're going to love what CHF is putting together! We've had one release from Scene It, the Beacon of Hope (lighthouses)...now...we have Mountains! And it doesn't stop there...Mona is having way too much fun putting some fabulous images together!! (faster Mona...faster! lol)

This set will be released next week on the 18th. Here are several cards I've done so far.

I called this one "Escape To The Mountains". It's a combination of Rummage Bin and some Grass images, colored with Copics.

"From The Valley" is the Sketch Challenge on SCS today. All these images are from the Mountains set. It has some beautiful sentiments too. Can you guess how many images I used from this set....4 and the sentiment! I love this one combined with the Beacon of Hope! (yes, I've done several already!)

Supplies for these two

Cornish Heritage Farms:
Mountains-Scene It
All Things Fall (moose)-Rummage Bin
The Great Canadian Stamp Set (escape)-Rummage Bin
Grass
Tall Weeds

Ink:
Adirondack Pitch Black dye&pigment-Ranger

Other:
Copic markers-ellenhutson.com
Spellbinders Nestabilities/Ribbon Tag-ellenhutson.com
photo corners
dimesionals
leather strip

Unfortunately, I needed a sympathy card for a dear friend whose sister-in-law died unexpectedly.
I flipped the sketch and used my new Flourishes "Lilac" set. The sentiment is from the Mountains set.

I heat embossed the Lilac with Evergreen embossing powder, watercolored it with reinkers then sponged it with Distress inks. I super distressed the edges....oooh, I love that look and it relieves stress too! LOL

I thought I'd give it a totally different look with the Cuttlebugged die cut squares.

Supplies:

Paper:

Pattern Paper from Joanne's

Gift Giving

Today's Chick's Challenge involves Holiday Gifts...hey if you can make some great gifts, the money you save can go into your craft stash winking Pictures, Images and Photos

I found these neat brass stitchable ornaments by Bucilla, at a local discount store for .69!. You are supposed to cross stitch the mesh center, and it even came with a pattern. Yeah, right...I never did enjoy cross stitch! But I could stamp something and glue it on there!

Spellbinders Nestabilities ovals fit just perfectly! I stamped one of the lighthouses from Beacon of Hope, colored it with Copics and masked it to stamp the sun. Then I used my Versamarker pen and went over the sun/lighthouse and covered with it clear embossing powder, that let me sponge the sky with distress inks without disturbing the images.

I did a similar sky on a scrap piece, stamped the sentiment and cut it apart to put on the ornament.

The entire scene was then given another coat of clear ep and glued to the brass ornament using a silicon craft glue.

Be sure to see what the other girls did by clicking on each name below.
