Magnolia Down Under Challenge #55

This week at Magnolia Down Under Challenges we are asking you to theme your creation around a SEASON - it's probably fairly obvious which season I went with - LOL.

I was really lucky to find this fabulous shadow box frame in an op shop (thrift store) recently. My daughter loves to find bargains amongst the clothing racks while I tend to fossic among the books and nick nacks on the shelves. The frame didn't need much work - I just had to open it up and remove the cheesy little wooden animals that were living in each square and give the glass a good clean.

Unfortunately I did find a problem with the frame - each square is only 3 1/4" high - and most of my Magnolia stamps were too tall! I had intended to do all 4 seasons - one per box - but these guys were 2 that fit and were both for Winter - so this became my "snow much fun" frame - LOL. There is icy glitter everywhere and I ended up sparkling for several days - LOL.

The best part was the depth of each frame - I managed to create a fun 3D effect in the "scene" boxes and pushed the other boxes up closer to the front by padding behind the DP - it's added a lot of interest and fun. All the DP is from Magnolia. I'm going to enter it in this month's Creatalicious Challenges where they're asking you to show something 3D - I haven't had a chance to enter over there for some time so it will be fun to play along - LOL.

Don't forget to to go and check out what other season's the DT have to inspire you this week at the Magnolia Down Under Challenges Blog - and check out the little prize parcel I've put together for some lucky winner!

And because today is my birthday AND because I've reached the incredible milestone of having 300 followers which is absolutely amazing and I'm grateful for each and every one - I've decided one random comment from this post will get this little prize parcel from me - it's a "pigeon pair" to the winner's prize I'm putting up at MDUC. There are 6 embroidered snowflake doilies/decorations I made, a pack of rhinestones, 6 charms and some Magnolia rubber - I'll announce the winner on Thursday, 22nd July - chosen because I'm a Thursday's Child with far to go - LOL.

Life's a Fairy Tale at Tickled Pink Stamps

Magnolia's Fairy Tale Collection is currently on pre-order over at Tickled Pink Stamps - they only went on pre-order last Friday and Kellie's already sold out of many of the stamps! But don't stress - she has just listed her second pre-order of these beauties.

To coincide with the release Da Boss Lady asked the DT to use one of the Fairy Tale images on an easel card. What a hardship - LOL. I decided to make mine into a scene from Cinderella. The gorgeous princess carriage is one of the new release digis from Whimsy Stamps. The lace, orange flowers and DP were bought at Tickled Pink Stamps back when it was Magnolia Down Under. I found the shoe sticker in my stash - it was originally lilac so I coloured it with my white gel pen, followed by one of my blue copics and then doused it in dazzling diamonds - NOW it fits my colour scheme - LOL.

And did you notice the "Fairy Godmother" fluttering over the carriage to keep an eye on things??? Isn't she CUTE! Once again the photos just don't do the glitter justice - maybe one day - sigh!

I'm also going to enter this into Bec's Creatalicious Challenges - they are asking you to create something that has both flowers and wings on it - what a fun challenge!

Guest DT for Creatalicious Challenges #4

I was blown away last month when Bec and Cheryl asked me to be their GDT for their 4th challenge at Creatalicious Challenges. I was even more stoked when Cheryl emailed me the brief - it was MADE for me and not really a challenge at all - LOL. What is it you ask - Christmas, Glitter and Snowflakes!!!

My first step was to choose an image to use - not really hard as I had recently bought these adorable digital penguins from Angel's Landing - they are just too cute! I used my Touch and Copic markers to colour them before adding Dazzling Diamonds to all the white areas of their clothes.

Now onto the snowflakes - I machine embroidered the base snowflake in a blue thread that's close to SU's Baja Breeze. I then layered on some Spellbinders snowflakes with alternate layers being treated with Flower Soft and glitter before putting them together with a diamonte brad. And don't forget the embossed snowflake background!!!

A few pale blue rhinestones finishes off the glitter requirement - I just wish once again that glitter would photograph - this really does sparkle IRL. The DP and sentiment is from Stampin' Up.

On a side note - I have been toying with making and selling my embroidered snowflakes - I'd appreciate any expressions of interest to see if it's worth doing!

Now don't forget to pop over to Creatalicious Challenges to check out the rest of the fabulous inspiration from the regular DT and give the challenge a go yourself!

Creatalicious Challenge #3

Yay - I finally found some ME time today and disappeared into my crafting corner to play along with this month's Creatalicious Challenge. The rules are

* Use only scrap/used sheets of DP
* You can use new cardstock
* Add flowers handmade by you

Well I think I managed to fill all the criteria!! This is another Mo Manning illustration from Digital Pencil Too and this card came together pretty quickly as I already had these lovely gals coloured up ready to go - they are perfect for teenagers! The DP is from Stampin' Up and the flower is made from both sides of the same DP. The tutorial for the flower by Michele Roos is HERE. I've made this one before and I'm sure I'll be making it again - I think they are FABULOUS.

I've also "made my own" DP by stamping my SU Gratuitous Graffiti background stamp on it in the same colour ink as the CS - Pumpkin Pie. The Night of Navy CS has been "thumped" with the matching ink to add more texture. And YES - I used my distressing tool again seeing it was sitting on the desk waiting to be shown some more love - LOL
