Hallo-wedding!!!! with caricatures and other neato stuff!!

This non-traditional bride and groom chose the perfect moniker for their wedding...Monster Mashley!! And I got to use my fancy Halloween calligraphy!
It was held at an appropriate venue too, Monster Vegan in Philly, whose decor gloriously amplified the wedding theme. I was set up under the gaze of some famous faces...
...in a room with old B sci-fi and horror flicks playing...not to mention one with a pre-Captain Kirk!

Here's a few of the guests...

What an amazing night!

Thank you to Ashley and Matt, for a wonderful night, and then leaving this feedback on my Google page!! I appreciate it so much!

I hired Emily for my Hallo-Wedding and she was beyond fabulous! Guests absolutely loved her and her caricatures and the one she made for us was SPOT ON!! Don’t hesitate in booking her for your special event! THE BEST!!!

Halloween FUNdraiser caricatures~

Way back in the spring, I was booked for this Halloween-themed fundraiser to benefit

Faithful Friends Animal Shelter,

but I had no idea there was gonna be LIVE MUSIC! Harness and 440 were fantastic! It felt like being at a high school dance, except we are all old now ;-) !

So....caricatures! Still getting accustomed to the new tripod easel.

Yes, of course I drew the Gene Simmons impersonator!!!   :-P
...and the bass player (after he removed the Darth Vader helmet)

So much fun! Thank you for having me!!!

Halloween Silhouettes at Jerry's!

I didn't have any gig this year on actual Halloween, so I decided to hang out somewhere and get some practice cutting silhouettes, in costume. The 'somewhere' was my local artists' haunt: Jerry's Artarama in Wilmington, Delaware. Yes, I wore my much-loved witch outfit, with a new (smaller) hat.
Most of my subjects were students at DCAD, which was right down the street, and very appreciative of my scissor artistry.

A Halloween luncheon...

...and part of the entertainment was my caricatures. It was held at a 55+ recreational center. Below, you see a volunteer (clown lady), the director of activities (mismatched lady), and myself  (caricaturist lady! I was Frau Blucher  again this year. ;-)
Most of the attendees were wearing orange and black...
But this lady threw together a costume!
Afterwards, I headed to a new place I'll be probably be frequenting frequently:

Jerry's Artarama just opened a branch in Wilmington, Delaware, which I found out from one of the guests I drew at the Zombie party this past weekend. On Halloween, they had a 20% off sale on everything, and if you showed up in costume, you were entered to win a gift certificate. Yup, I was still in costume, and yup, I spent some money! :-D

Update: 11-4-13 Some nice words from my client came via email today:
The feedback has been overwhelmingly POSITIVE---the members really enjoyed having their portraits done and they really liked you....thanks for taking such good care and being caring. I truly enjoyed meeting you and appreciate the links you sent.

A lenticularly frightening face for Halloween...

Happy Halloween! When this post goes up (it's automated) I'll be dressed up and drawing already at a morning party, wearing a brooch with this handsome countenance on it...
The really cool thing about it is that it's lenticular! I've always been fascinated with such images. (I've owned since teenage-hood a John Lennon/Beatles pin that can be seen in this post.)
What has this to do with caricature or for caricaturists? I recently ran across this Kickstarter campaign for a company that will produce anyone's GIF as a lenticular card. Imagine what this could do with a series of caricatures. or caricature business cards, etc?

Caricaturing for Zombies

Halloween, one of my favorite holidays, always includes caricaturing at a Halloween party (or two :-)
Last night, I found myself in a house of undead...
Drawing bloody Amish:
This is a woman who got progressively more ill throughout the party...
(she was bitten by a feral child, she said...and her injury was not store bought...she made it herself. Wonderful thing, that internet!)
A very few dared to come un-costumed:
The group photos were taken at the very end, so some people had already left, but you can see what kind of fun I had drawing these!!! The red Prismacolor marker got a workout.

The party hosts were deadly serious about decorating. ;-)
Every room induced groans ( and laughter!!)
But the masterpiece was their pantry door: (below right)

Unsettling but ingenious!

There were even custom-made (by the hostess herself) folders for my caricatures!
Gigmasters has really sent my way some stupendous clients.
Yay! and THANK YOU!!!!
