Today, Daytripper #3 hits the stands. We love this issue and now it's on the readers hands. It's on your hands.
That podcast on the previous post, on Alter Ego Comic Cast? Here the updated link with the actual talk. Fun stuff
Finally, also this week I contributed to a 4 page story inside DMZ #50. I liked the story and the idea behind it, and I'm very happy about the way it came out on paper. Also, I now have my name on a comic along with Jim Lee, Dave Gibbons and Eduardo Risso. Wow.
Strange fact: the artwork from Daytripper #3 was finished about one year earlier than the artwork for DMZ.

Alter Ego on the 10th
This wednesday, we'll be on the Alter Ego Comic Cast talking about our past and present work, focusing maybe on Daytripper since it's the same day issue 3 hits the stands. We talked to the Alter Ego folks last thursday, it was a night of heavy raining here in São Paulo, and just until half hour prior to recording the podcast, we had no internet at the studio and we kept wondering if we should go home and do it there. Little did we know that at home, because of the rain, the entire neighborhood was powerless, enjoying a blackout. The internet came back as we were packing to leave the studio, so everything worked out fine.

A piece of the interview
If you click HERE, you can read an excerpt from our interview for The Comics Journal #298, which should be out for sale on Wednesday, June 24th. We did this interview over the course of many days, and each days could be weeks or months apart. Most of it was done before last year's SDCC, and some of it was done at the beginning of this year to talk about all our current projects (Daytripper, BPRD 1947 and Umbrella) and to also talk about all the Eisners we got last year, which took us completely by surprise (the "getting all those Eisners" part, not the "being interviewed about it" part).
The reporter conducting the interview, Diego Assis, is a brazilian reporter, and I think this fact gave the questions an interesting "foreign" point of view. The interviewer is an outsider, and so are the artists being interviewed. Also, he had a much better view of our career both in the US and in Brazil, while an american reporter would only have an idea of what we have published in the US market.
One interesting detail caught my attention: we did this interview in portuguese, and I'm guessing Diego did the translation. You can say we have a much stronger "accent" on his translation of the words.
What caught Bá's attention was that they had Eduardo Risso's name misspelled - and we know he's from Argentina.
We have a brazilian literary festival coming up in a few weeks, and two weeks after that, the San Diego Comic-con, so I think we'll have to really bury ourselves in the work for the following month in order to finish up everything we need to do. the hardcover edition on PIXU- the Mark of Evil should be out now or soon, and in July, BPRD 1947 starts coming out. Keep an eye out for this releases, and enjoy our interview at TCJ.
Thanks for reading, and back to work.

The Twins on the Comics Journal
There's gonna be a big, long and extensive interview with us on the next issue of The Comics Journal and we were asked to provide a new image, never before seen or published, to use on THE COVER. We did try to get something from our beloved and secret Daytripper allowed by Vertigo, but secret things are meant to stay hidden and safe. So we had no choice but to make a brand new drawing.
It will be available in June and you can pre-order it here.
Here's a nice video the guys at Fantagraphics have made:

PIXU interview and preview.
We're focusing on drawing some pages, which is what we need to do right now. We want to work a little faster, and a little longer, and we want it to look its best, so we'll keep quiet for some days (or weeks). All for the sake of comics.
Two links related to our beloved group project, PIXU:
An interview with the four creators about working together and creating a complex horror story
A 17-page preview of PIXU, so you know what's in store when you have this beauty in your hands.
We just saw the design of the hardcover, and it will be awesome. It already is. We're so very proud of this story and we're thrilled it will be collected and in hardcover. Nothing says horror book more than a hardcover. Only maybe a dusty hardcover, but that will happen in time when you have your copy of PIXU in your shelf, and the years pass and you never open the book because you'll be scared of what is inside.

'Daytripper' on Newsarama
There I was, in San Diego, going to the DC booth to check with Bob Schreck what time was the Vertigo panel I was suppose to go to announce that Bá and I were doing a series for Vertigo. As I arrived, to my surprise, Bob had printed copies of the first issue of Daytripper in hand, and he was showing it to a girl. A woman, actually, but I call women girls all the time.
Turns out she was a reporter and she was asking him questions about the series, and since I turned out at that time, I was interviewed as well. Call it fate, I call it strange. It's okay, I'm used to strange. Have you met my brother?
Anyway, the article is up at newsarama, and it's the first time we (I) had to talk about what the series was about and how was it working on it. I think I did pretty good right there on the fly, and I'm sure I was a lot more nervous twenty minutes later on the Vertigo panel. Bob made me look good, though.
So, click here on the link and read alway.
Back to the drawing board.

PIXU crew at CBR!
There's an interview with all PIXU creators at CBR. It's a nice introduction to what our new story is about, and at the same time it doesn't spoil it for those who haven't read it. There are preview pages from all four artists, like this one from Bá:
Production on the second volume continues steady and on schedule. We're a little bit late on everything else, but it's only for one more week. We can't all be drawing machines like Becky, now can we?
If you still haven't hopped on the PIXU ride, you can get your copy online at Khepri.com. Trust me, you'll want to know what happens before PIXU II arrives.
Back to work.

Interview! Eisner! Voting!
There's a new interview with Bá about his work on Umbrella Academy. It has been on the Dark Horse site for over a month, but we just noticed it now. Check out for some insights on Bá's impressions on the series.
Also, the voting for the Eisner Awards have begun, so if you're a professional in the industry elligible to vote, and you might have liked Umbrella Academy as best mini series, Sugarshock as best online comic or 5 as best anthology, go ahead and place your vote at http://eisnervote.com/.

Online interview about Umbrella Academy
A Couple of months ago I gave this interview to Fanboy Confidencial about Umbrella Academy and comics in general and it's finally online.
It's a good way to close this year with something that has been so much talked about.
Click here to listen to it.
Enjoy.
