Another TTM Success From David Lough

Last month, I got a TTM success in from David Lough because I had heard he was now signing his mail.  I had completely forgotten about the TTM request I had sent him back in 2020.  Well, it came in on Monday. I got the above ruby red foil parallel from 2014 Topps signed, and it turned out greqt.
He also signed a 2013 Pinnale, 2013 Topps, 2014 Topps Heritage and a blue parallel from 2014 Topps.  I never give up on a TTM request, and this one took almost 4 years to come in.

I mailed to Lough on July 15, 2020, and got the cards back on June 17, 2024, for a 1,433-day TAT.

TTM Success - Buck Showalter

On Saturday I got a TTM success that I was really excited about.  I got four cards back from Orioles manager, Buck Showalter.  The above 2005 Topps gold parallel was the card I was the most happy to get back.  I don't know why, I guess because I have had it for so long.  You may be able to see that there is some damage on the card on the right side.  It was a victim of a common problem with mid 90s to mid 2000s Topps cards.  The over gloss on the card allows for it to stick the the other cards near it if it ever gets hot.  I was able to salvage this one out of a box of junk, and held onto it.  Now, it has been salvaged yet again as a TTM success.
I figured I would try to send a few other cards to Buck and see if I could get multiples signed.  I was lucky enough to get three Topps Heritage cards signed.  Heritage always looks good with an on-card auto.
I had gotten Buck before TTM.  That was a couple years ago on a ball.  I have since replaced that ball with an IP auto from Buck, and gave the TTM one to my friend, Frankie.
I have already inspired one young Instagram follower to send to Buck since he has seen my post about this TTM success.  I hope he can get a success like I did.

I mailed to Buck on 2/22 and got the cards back on 3/5, making them a 12-day TAT.  Not bad for a guy who is really busy right now.

Card Show Gifts From Ryu

I got a couple cards from my buddy, Ryu at the last two card shows that I have gone to.  The above 2014 Topps Chrome sepia parallel Adam Jones was from the January show.  I didn't get to talk to Ryu as much at that show as I would have liked, but he was very busy, and seemed to be pressed for time.

I like the sepia parallels.  I think, if they are in this year's chrome, they will look really nice with the borderless design.
At the February show, I got to see Ryu for a big longer and he had this 2014 Heritage chrome of Nelson Cruz for me.  He also had a few cards for my son, Chris, which was really nice.

This Cruz is numbered 774/999.

I was really happy to see Ryu, like always, at each show.  He is a really good kid, and always fun to talk to.  I wish we had more time to chat, but I understand.  At the last show, I was able to sell him a nice Ichiro pin card from 2016 Topps.  I hope it has a nice spot in his collection, because that card looked pretty cool.

Thank you for the cards, Ryu!  See you at the Easter show!

Christmas Package From James

My "to be blogged" pile is pretty huge at the moment.  So much so, it is mid-January, and I still haven't shown off all of my Christmas gifts yet.  I'm getting there, but I don't want to dump them all into one post; I want to try to give each person/package their own post and truly do the gifts justice. It is never the quantity or "value" of the gifts you receive that is important, but the thought itself that should hold meaning.

That being said, the best part of this gift might not have been the awesome cards that I scanned, but the letter that was included along with them.  You see, my good friend, James, and I have been trading for a year now.  He was the second person I made a successful deal with on Instagram, and we have been good friends ever since.  Of all of the people on Instagram that I consider friends, James writes me the best notes and includes them in each package.  Sometimes, the notes are my favorite part of the deal.

Anyway, along with another great letter, James also included some really cool cards that I wasn't expecting.  The above Delmon Young card is a fine example.  Young forever endeared himself to O's fans on October 3 when he hit the three-run double to put the O's ahead of the Tigers in ALDS Game 2.  The fact that I was there makes it all that much more special.  So, James giving me this card and adding the facts about Young, I will slab this card in a mag and will never let it go from my collection.
Another card James sent was this on-card auto of Herm Starrette from 2014 Heritage.  It was really funny that he sent me this card, because I think it was offered to me by three different guys in trades, and I never took the bait.  I wanted the card, I just never felt like I had enough to offer for it.  Thankfully, my patience (and James's generosity) paid off, and I now own the card.

Thanks so much for the Christmas package, James.  I was really happy to open it, and I'm sorry it took me so long to post it.  I hope the post has done the gift justice, because I appreciate everything you do!

Mail From _Ultimatecards - 2014 Topps Heritage Adam Jones Red Parallel

I got a huge stack of Orioles cards in the mail a few weeks ago.  I had a bunch of them, but one of the ones I didn't have was this Adam Jones red parallel from 2014 Heritage.  The cards came from my buddy Drew, who's instagram handle is _ultimatecards.

I can't remember what I sent him, but Drew hooked me up.  A lot of the cards were base Orioles, and a few parallels.  These color parallels from Heritage are tough to get, from what I've seen.  I hadn't seen the red parallel until now.

Thanks so much for the cards, Drew!

By the way, I added my Chris Davis haves list to Google Docs and put a link on my wishlist.  Go take a look when you get a chance.  I'd like to be able to add some other PC players at some point.  It takes a lot of work, but I should at least be able to add Nolan Reimold pretty soon.  We'll see.

More Cards From Scott F.

In the first trade package my buddy Scott F. sent me, he had included a few parallels and autos that I wanted to show off, but wasn't able to at that time.  I wanted to save them for a later post, and here it is!

Scott included this awesome purple chrome parallel from 2014 Heritage, a rookie card of Xander Bogaerts and Jonathan Schoop.  I recently organized my Schoop PC and found that I have quite a bit of Schoop's stuff, so this will be a welcome addition.
One of the autos that Scott sent was this 3/50 Lex Rutledge die cut from Panini Elite Extra Edition.  This is also a really cool card and looks much better in person.  I met Rutledge in 2013, and he was a really nice guy.  He had spent some time in Gastonia, NC, which is near Charlotte, so we talked about that for a little bit while he was signing autographs.
Finally, I picked up a little trade bait for my buddy, Max.  Since he is a super collector of Cubs cards, I figured he would like this Ken Holtzman card.  I haven't shown it to him, yet, but I'm certain he will like it.

Thanks for all of the great cards, Scott.

Ebay Pickup - Chris Davis 2014 Topps Heritage Box Topper

Here is another Ebay pickup that I got recently.  Topps rolled out the old embossed design from 1965 in conjunction with this year's Heritage offering.  These are similar to the 1965 Embossed, except larger and have writing on them.  I think they look pretty cool, though and have always liked the originals.

I busted one box of 2014 Heritage and didn't get one of these.  I got one of the crappy advertising panels, which I promptly sold.  I don't care for those at all.  I wish I had gotten one of these, instead.  Anyway, Ebay helped me out on both ends and I'm happy.

Ebay Pickup - 2014 Heritage Orioles Action SPs

A while back, right when 2014 Heritage came out, I picked up these two Orioles "Action" short prints.  I got them for really good prices because they had just came out.  I had buried the cards in my "to be blogged" pile and figured I better go ahead and post them before I get too behind and forget about the completely.
These shots of Davis and Machado are great on the Heritage format.  I was a big fan of this year's offering and it has made me really appreciate and want to collect the 1965 set.  I think that 1965 will be my next 60s set that I try to do, once 1969 or 1959 are complete.

Mail From Judson - 2014 Topps Heritage Chris Davis Blue Parallel

A while back, Judson (from the blog - My Cardboard Habit) sent me this awesome Chris Davis blue parallel from 2014 Toppe Heritage.  This card has been on my desk for some time now, waiting for me to blog it, and now I finally have gotten to it.  Sorry about the wait.

Judson is a really awesome guy and I feel like I owe him a great deal of Rangers cards.  I just sent him a package of a few Rangers, but I know it pales in comparison to the stuff he has sent me recently.

So, thanks for this card, Judson, I really appreciate it!

Cards From Mom

I visited my parents' house a couple weeks ago and when I got up that Saturday morning, my mom greeted me with a couple blasters of cards that she had picked up.  Mom has been asking me when I was going to post about the boxes on here, well, what better day than Mother's Day?

You see, my mom is the one who really got me into cards.  She would always take me to the card shop when I was younger and would spoil me with tons of cards.  I always enjoyed it, I mean who wouldn't?  The best part, though, was that Mom always bought some packs, too.  She had as big a collection as I did back then.  Too bad the both of us didn't know that those cards would be part of the era known as the "Overproduction Era."  Oh well, the memories of sitting in Mom's car, opening packs (which, is a habit that still carries over - whenever I buy packs, I always open them up in the car) and sneaking the cards into the house so Dad didn't find out is something I will always remember.
Happy Mother's Day, Mom!  I love you and thanks for getting me started (Mallory thanks you too!).

Ebay Pickup - 2014 Topps Heritage Chris Davis Black Parallel

You all know about the Miguel Cabrera black parallel that I pulled out of my box of 2014 Topps Heritage.  Well, it sold for $41 and I was able to use some of that money to buy this Chris Davis black parallel.  This Davis is numbered 16/65 and is a high number, just like the Cabrera was.  I was happy to 'trade' it for this Davis and some other stuff.

I really like these black parallels.  They look really sharp, especially with the '65 design.  I was also glad that I got this Davis as opposed to the two I missed out on the day before.  Those went for just over $25 each and I got this one for just over $21. I saved $4, woo hoo!

Spread The Word - I'm Back On Ebay

I took several years off from selling on Ebay.  I had moved, started doing shows, started a blog, started a COMC account, but finally, after several painstaking hours of listing stuff, I am back on ebay.  This is probably only temporary, but who knows, I might find a few more things to throw up there.

What prompted me to do it was pulling this beauty out of my 2014 Topps Heritage box this weekend.  I casually looked it up and was amazed to see what they had sold for, so I naturally decided to try to cash in.  I figured, if I can get a decent amount of money funneled into my PayPal account, I could maybe expedite some set pursuits or maybe see about adding HOF baseball #101 to my collection.  We'll see.
So, if you have time and money burning a hole in your pocket, please head over to Ebay and check out my wares.  My Ebay ID is roaddogg57 and I will give you the courtesy of a page link here.

Thanks for looking guys and good luck if any of you decide to bid!
