Merry Christmas Darlin' duex

Yesterday on this posting, I told you about miniature xmas trees I created for our staff meeting.  Here's tree number 2.

I call it my "Naughty or Nice" tree.  I found all of the decorations at the Dollar General store.  This cute little ornament was $1 and it MADE the tree!

This tree was a remake from a silent auction tree that needed a little bit of pizzazz!

Tulle is a great, inexpensive way to fill in those gaps.

This little Naughty and Nice tags were from toothpick toppers, I yanked the toothpicks out and glued the tags to chocolate kisses.

The second best find was a kitchen towel in the same them.  NIiiiccceee!

Which have you been this year?
Come back tomorrow for a view of this tree:

Ladybug, Ladybug fly away home....

Ever heard the song,
Ladybug, Ladybug, Fly Away home, your house is on fire and your children are alone.
That's a bit creepy, isn't it. So, this little ladybug took her babies with her.

These little ones are special because they represent our "little" family.
Look closely they all have initials to represent each of us and there's two identical babies for the twins!
Happy Saturday!

I used the "Live Simply" cricut cartridge
I cut a green background(my mom's favorite) then added a little rubon of leaves and branches.
 What ribbon should I add?
Entering this into
BBTB2 challenge ladybug/bee challenge!

Hold on Sunday, I ain't ready for Monday

Boohiss, it's almost Monday.
As you all know I am on a personal campaign to ban Mondays.  Check back tomorrow to  see where I'm going with my ban tomorrow.

Ya'll need to visit The Altered Paper Blog for some fun swaps that she hosts. I've entered into the 12 month swap and am really stretching and learning new techniques.  Go by and tell her Georgie sent ya!

In the meantime we'll visit a little tag I made for my swap partner, Mercedes from All Things Pretty .  I was uninspired, but then...magic happened.

Literally, this little fairy appeared on the tag.
No, not literally, but it was fun to say.

This is a new look for me..I've added more flowers to my stash and am incorporating them more.
What do you think?

Added some stickles to the edges of flowers.
Flip side....
The photo is from a RAK I won a few months back.
Happy Sunday!

How about a little romance with while we build a snowman?

This year I've decided to hone my craft by participating in more challenges. My first challenge for the year is to sign up for the Tag a Month at the Altered Paper .  Stop by The Altered Paper blog and sign up for swap.  I think you'll enjoy it!  I should be posting a picture of the tag I made...but silly me forgot to take a picture of the tags before I sent them.  Whoopsy--I hate when that happens.

Instead I will show you what I received in the mail.  I actually swapped with two partners this month.
1. Donna at The red apple junction blog
She wrapped her tag in this lovely doily delight, I wish I'd taken a picture without the tag so you could see just how special the wrapping was.
Oh, and the rose...

The second tag was just as delicious as the first....
ooolala
sent me this cute little note card with a tag and other goodies inside.

Sookie, the kitten was very interested in this package....I wonder, does Tina have pets?

sookie inspecting the goodies!
A closer look at this cutie! The card, not the cat.  Well. ok, the cute cat too.  For those that have been following me for the past year. Sookie, the kitten, named after our favorite book/tv series character has grown into a full blown cat.  She ain't no kitten anymore.

Here we go, here's a picture without the kitten.Look at the detail in the inking.

If you've been hangin' out this long...then maybe you can give me some insight on the canvas below.
I've been working on it for awhile. Setting it aside, working on it, setting it aside.

I'm not finished with it yet.  There are still some more layers I want to add.  I was considering diluting the cream colored paint and adding that to all the canvas except the bird.  Then adding some more stamping
and

else

By the way the bird is from a vintage bird identification book that I stole borrowed from my mom.
Give me some ideas. What would you do?

It's Dik and Dot! Oh my!

It's true I'm a gnome fan.  I've had a love affair with gnomes since I was a little girl and would visit my mother's bff and she had cuuuttee littlen gnomes in her garden.  This was way back in 1970, so her gnomes were cool, way before they became "trendy."

Dik and Dot, the gnomes.  Chickadee and Myrtle and Pepe, the ladybugs.

I've never been particularly interested in Salt and Pepper shakers, but when I saw these cute gnomes in a retail shop...I had to have them. We named them Dik and Dot after a couple of neighbors.  Just because I love they way Dik and Dot sound together.  The neighbor actually spells his name Dick, but I thought it was much cuter to name this gnome with an interesting spelling.

Also in this picture is a set of ladybug salt and pepper shakers I stole from my mother's home.  My cute mom, ya'll remember her, right?  The cutiest little 79 year old on the planet?

I took these cute little ladybug off her hands and decided to name them Myrtle and Pepe...my MR and my nicknames for each other.  We decided this one was Pepe...

He's lost one of his antennae in some horrendous accident, that we dont' even want to imagine. How horrible for Pepe!

Family portrait of all my kitschy stuff. We couldn't wake sleepyhead up for nothin'.

Oh, and here's a little bit of cricut cut cards....

Encouraging Words Magnet Swap

Happy Saturday Blog Friends!
Today I have a moment to sit and catch up on the wonderful blogs I follow and also to do a litte posting too.  This time of year is the busiest time of year for me. I'm visiting local schools, hosting Girl Scout events in the park, making radio appearances and generally keeping busy as a bee.  Check out some of these cute shots.....

come and play with me!

I know their moms are proud!

aren't these the cutiest faces!
Thank goodness for a patient hubby that doesn't mind making dinner and handling household chores, while I rustling up some Girl Scouts!  Thank you Mr. Horn....
our wedding day...only a few years back!

If you're a Girl Scout Alumnae(or former Brownie) remember that 2012 we are celebrating 100 years of Girl Scouting.  You can find out about some upcoming events by visiting your local Girl Scout councils website, go to Girl Scouts USA website to find out more.  If you'd like, leave me a comment about your favorite Girl Scout memory.  I love to hear your stories.

This week I participated in a swap with the very talented artists at Gingersnap Creations.  I had to make 4 magnets with encouraging phrases and then I'll get in return 4 magnets from different artists.  **excited**
I'm very happy with the final look of these magnets and may reproduce them in the future.
Believe good things will happen to you!
Somebody's gonna do it, why not YOU?

Be confident and proud
dream big dreams, have big ideas

My favortie is the  birdbath stamped image with the words, "Dream big dreams, have big ideas"  Don't we all need to think like that?  Here's a close up where you can see the glossy accents I added to give some dimension to the magnet.(A suggestion from the MR.)

These were magnetic frames from Michaels that cost me a whole whopping $1.49!  First I printed out on regular copy paper the phrases and cut them to fit the frame.  I added Adirondack Alcohol Inks to the frames, let that dry and then slid the copy paper in to the frames.  After that I figured out where I would place the stamps.  After I was all done, I just felt like something else needed to happen.  I pulled the paper with the phrases out of the frames and added distressed ink around the edges in Black Soot.  These pictures were taken before I added the distressed ink.  Take my word for it, adding the distressed inks around the edges really gave the magnet another dimension.

I love working with the alcohol inks--I need to buy some in all the different colors.  Sookie isn't too fond of them, I guess her little sniffer can really pick up the chemicals from the blending solution and her eyes get all squinted when she smells the bottle. Why is she sniffing the bottle you ask?  Because that's what cats do.

ready to sniff whatever is on the work table

After a few too many sniffs, the kitten is ready to party!  She even puts silly things on her head!  Sookie, you are now limited to a one sniff limit.

Have a wonderful weekend people! Take a moment to remember 9/11 and those that serve our country.  Hugs and kitten kisses,
G
