The day my Mom kicked me off the Christmas card list

For Realz ya'll!
(Now listen, stick around to the very end, cause I need your help deciding on something)

Recently I was having a convo with my mom about Christmas cards.
Do you ever have random conversations that you don't even know how they winding around to a subject? It was one of those conversations....Here we were unloading groceries and the next minute we were talking about Christmas cards.

I admitted that I didn't send many cards out in the past few years and Mom proceeded to tell me her system.
She has a list of each person/family she is sending a card to, as she writes the card, addresses and sticks a stamp on the envelope--she checks that name off the list.

That's terrific, I LOVE  a good system, #Ilovecheckmarks

So then, this cute little momma of mine tells me about the second column on her Christmas card list. The naughty or nice column.
The column that will make you or break you.
This is the column where she checks if you sent her a card.
(note to self, ask Mom if she will show you the list--It's a great need of mine to see it)

Then with the cutting her throat gesture, my sweet momma said, "Two years and no checkmark--you are off the list."

We both just laughed and laughed and laughed.
And, then seriously, I said, "I better get some Christmas cards..."

Here's where I need your help...
Which of these would you choose? 1, 2, or 3
BTW As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases.

It's not too early to purchase Xmas cards, is it?
I've narrowed it down to these 3--please help me decide.
(if you can't see the images below, copy the website url into internet explorer or firefox)

1. These have a cool retro vibe and are blank on the inside so I can write a nice note to my mom about how much I love her and wish her a merry holiday, yada, yada, yada.

2. What!! Scratch and sniff Xmas cards. No freaking way! I'm really leaning toward these.

or
3. A real classic selection. I love buying a box of cards with options. So if I really like you you'll get the cutest card and if you're kinda a friend you'll get the dullest card. haha

Time Travel Thursday July 19, 2012

Hello Blog Friends,
Welcome to my weekly Time Travel day.  Today I thought we would visit 3 generations of 18 year old young women.
1st my mother: Gerda, 1951

Then me, Georgie, 1983

Then my little girl, Heather in 2004
And, since we are talking about 3 generations, lets see all three of us together.
And, let's tie this into more dimples...just a little sneak peak.  Full photo to follow in the next few days.  Can't wait to show you!

Fly Home Tags

These are some tags I've made for some swaps.  The Altered Paper Blog hosts a monthly tag swap--(which you can still be a part of!)
With no further ado, since it is freakin' Monday and I have to go to work. (I still haven't banned Monday's completely)

I originally had a nest in place of the postage stamp....but it just didn't work.
On the backside of this tag...
 Tag 2
I LOVE these flowers--which I learned from another blogger.  Mine didn't come out nearly as cute as her's, but they still were cute.  Note, use paper with designs on both sides.  Underneath the tulle is a messed up heat embossed "mom".  But, I hated disliked it (hate is a strong word...) and covered it with tulle and then put some stickers on the net instead. Ta-dah!

The alpha stickers on this are originally a halloween set of alpha stickers.  Just so you know you can use seasonal items all year 'round!

Love this side, the big poppy is on the paper. It's a chipboard bird I added distressed ink to the edges.

Tag 3...looks alot like #1, but with a next instead.
I just saw a technique I would've used on this next...if I thought about it! (darn)  Crackle paint on the next would have given it more wood like texture.....

See ya tomorrow!

Ladybug, Ladybug fly away home....

Ever heard the song,
Ladybug, Ladybug, Fly Away home, your house is on fire and your children are alone.
That's a bit creepy, isn't it. So, this little ladybug took her babies with her.

These little ones are special because they represent our "little" family.
Look closely they all have initials to represent each of us and there's two identical babies for the twins!
Happy Saturday!

I used the "Live Simply" cricut cartridge
I cut a green background(my mom's favorite) then added a little rubon of leaves and branches.
 What ribbon should I add?

Hold on Sunday, I ain't ready for Monday

Happy Sunday Ya'll!
Today I will travel a bit up the road to visit my mom and sister who where in a head-on car collision last week.  Before you panic, they are both ok.  Remember I have the cutest mom on the planet and that cuteness  translate to resilience. Margie, my sister, has a jammed thumb and mom has a cracked rib.

They are both healing, but still need to take it easy.  Me and my twinny are going to visit today and do some housework.

I wish I could be there everyday for my mom and dad.  Seems like a lot of pressure is on my sister Margie.  What to do, what to do?  Send up prayers and healing thoughts to these two very special ladies!

Monday is a lame way to spend 1/7 of your life....and I'm sure glad we are here to say that.

Normally Monday's I rage on about the misery of Mondays.
But, today I give thanks instead.  Last night the Southeast United States had some very serious storms come through.  Thank goodness, the MR stayed up through the night to keep us safe.  Around 2am, he woke me up saying we had to get in our safe place.  (That's our half bath on the lower level of our home)

Sookie was very patient as we waited it out in the potty.  She was very upset with me because we forgot to grab the fish tank before closing the door.  Needless-to-say, as soon as we opened the door she went to check on her fishie buddies!

You have one more week to sign up for a gigantic giveaway...I'm honoring my sweet mother on her 79th birthday  and giving YOU a prize.  Go HERE to win

Please keep your thoughts and prayers going for the folks of Alabama.  Some of the news reports say that an entire town was wiped out by tornados last night.  YIKES!

In honor of my Mom's 79th bday! Come sign up for a Giveaway!

Hello Bloggy Friends!
In honor of my beautiful mom's 79th birthday I am giving away a huge, big, gigantic giveaway.

1955 wedding photo
Aren't they the sweetest couple ever? (I'm a little biased). Dad was stationed in Germany with the 101st Airborne Division, while my mother worked in Augsberg.  They met through friends, hit it off, but to my dad it was just a little romance.  He got stationed to another base and didn't tell my mom.  Word has it that my mother hunted him down at his new barracks.  (I guess today that might be called stalking) They were married in 1955 at city hall and have been together since!

Remember you can sign up for a HUGE giveaway. You will want to participate!

A GIVEAWAY in honor of my mommy!

Remember you can sign up for a HUGE giveaway.
You will want to participate!
In honor of my mom's 79th birthday we are giving away a gigantic amount of stash!
Now look, wouldn't you give away something in honor of this cute face?

Ya'll may not be as impressed as I am at this picture. So let me give you 10 reasons why!
1. She's 79 and looks this good
2. She's freaking cute taking her picture in front of a mirror--like a young kid.
3. She downloaded this picture to her computer and then posted it on Facebook.
4. Yes, she has a facebook with 131 friends and she's uploaded every single family picture to her facebook profile. Every single black and white from the 1950s and all the rest up until preset. A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.
5. She's styling with her scarf(she loves her scarves and extra special if they have paisleys)
6. Check out those legs!
7. She has had the same hairdo since the 1970s.  She figures if it works--don't change it.
8. The only makeup she wears is a little splash of color on her lips.  Other than that she's au natural!
9.  She's a techno freak. She loves to learn and I aspire to be like her when I'm 79
10. She's my mommy!

Remember, Sookie the kitten will be taking care of your prize until January 31st when a winner will be picked randomly!
